Really nice place. Clean. Friendly. Conveniently located. Glad they're in the area, which needed a place like this!

Sandy Hill Kennels - Honey after her grooming!!

I was so happy to find a groomer locally that was top notch from the first phone call through pick…read moreup! My puppy Honey is 6 1/2 months old and I needed to find somewhere close to get her groomed. After having other groomers in town not return my texts and phone calls I decided to call Sandy Hill. Not only was the gentleman on the phone pleasant. But he was able to get me an appointment for the very next day. I also like the fact that Sandy Hill requires proof of vaccines, rabies shots, kennel cough, etc. prior to taking on a new puppy. When I got there for her appointment at 1 o'clock they were already waiting for me. They took a picture of her for her file, petted her up a little bit so she would be comfortable and asked specifically what I wanted done during the grooming appointment. I was told that it would be about an hour and a half and that I would get a phone call when she was done about an hour and 15 minutes later, I received a call from her groomer, letting me know that she was all done and adding that she did exceptionally well considering that she's just a puppy. When I got there, the groomer brought her out showed me what she did and handed me a report card that also outlined her appointment, she also proactively made an appointment eight weeks out for me so that I didn't have to worry. The location is about 13 minutes from the center of Saxonburg, and is located off of Sandy Hill Road. The kennel and grooming complex itself was spotless, it was immediately evident that it was a classy, well taken care of business. I will for sure be taking honey back and having Christine groom her again!

When inquiring about the charge, i was told that grooming is a separate service and we should have known to inquire what the fee would be. The front desk has no accountability or responsibility for grooming pricing. I find that as a full service business, that is not a very customer friendly response and quite frankly, in other kennels i have used, the bathing was always included in the overall kennel stay. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

They said absolutely if she had all her vaccinations which she does. We arrived and they were so nice to her and us. We were given a link to keep an eye on her throughout the day, she had so much fun but was a bit shy! They took her to eat with them making sure she had a bit extra care. When we arrived they brought her to us with a gift bag filled with toys and treats for her and us. We were told she had an amazing day and was welcome back any time. We asked about how to pay and they informed us her first day was free. We were absolutely speechless, it isn't very often that a business cares and truly appreciates our business. We were also impressed at how they loved each dog that walked I. As if they were their own. I will definitely be taking her there for many of the amenities and services they provide. A huge thank you for taking the time and loving what you all do.

The dogs are on camera for the most part when the staff are there and i sense no stress from either my french bulldog or weimaraner. i recommend paying for some of the extras , like individual play time and walks as well as the going home bath to get that kennel stink off. In the end there buisness is well run, clean, and the staff are kind. Really appreciate them and the hard work they do for our pets in this community. See yinz soon! :)

Okay, let me begin by saying that I have a cat. I'm sure most people that reviewed have dogs, and I…read moreoften feel like places that board both cats and dogs focus like 80% of the attention on the dogs and the cats are just kind of there. I had thought this place was going to be different given that they actually list other services you can buy for the cat like most places offer for dogs (playtime, cuddle time, etc). Alas, it didn't turn out that way. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Drop off went pretty smooth. For it being my first time ever I felt the staff at check-in could've done a better job at explaining some of the additional services provided. I kind of had to prompt them to explain those things and what they meant. I had decided to get the nighttime exploration every other night to allow for my cat to stretch his legs outside of the cage more. After all the paperwork, I got to see where my cat would be staying and actually helped get him out of his carrier. Side note: he was completely freaked and refused to come out - a reaction I've never seen out of him before. But we got him out and I left for vacation. Cut to when it was time to pick him up. Nothing was really said about his stay. At other places I've boarded before the staff always tells me how the cat's stay was and how he did along with the report card they provide. Here they just provided me with a report card, and I just settled the bill then left. They gave me an almost full bag of food back (I'd brought food from home for my kitty), and usually when I'm gone a week and pick up my cat (at the other places I've been to over the years), I either get no food back or just a tiny bit. So the fact that there was nearly a full bag of food returned to me was alarming. I reviewed the report card on the way home (wasn't the one driving), and there was a little box checked that said "I didn't feel like eating". But all other boxes that were checked were that his behavior was wonderful and his bathroom habits were regular. I'm sorry, but how does that make sense given that he probably ate a cup or two of food all week? And on that form they'd made me fill out upon check-in, I had checked the option for them to entice him to eat if he wouldn't. Maybe they did try, but I feel more should've been done about that. Or they at least should've told me and explained that they'd tried their own wet food to get him to eat and he just wasn't interested in it. Even noting that on the report card would've been helpful. The other thing is, you remember how I mentioned I asked for nighttime exploration every other night? Yeah, I didn't get billed for that so I can only assume they didn't do it. Based on everything I doubt I will take him back. I will say the place smelled/looked clean so they do have that going for them. I think these places just cater much more to dogs, and even though they board cats, they don't do much with them. I had a boarding place I liked previously, but they stopped boarding cats which is what led me to this place. It's hard to even find a place in the North Hills that will board cats, and I was definitely less than impressed with Bradford Hills Pet Hotel.

She is now staying overnight at the emergency vet because this place does not care about animals. I have records that she was a healthy weight when I dropped her off and they returned her to me severely underweight and lethargic. I signed paperwork at drop off saying they would take action if there were any medical issues but they failed to live up to that. She clearly stopped eating at some point during their stay but they failed to notice something as basic as that. She looked visibly horrible when I brought her home. The people working here have to be either incredibly incompetent or just downright negligent. Now I'm just hoping my pet will survive all because they failed to pay any attention to them or take action.

Rosie is an 8 month puppy, and I realized she was just "too busy" to leave in the care of my older father. Drop off went as planned as explained on their internet site. I do suspect that they are strict with drop off and pick up times (as well as vaccinations) which was well explained in advance. I was more concerned with pick up and expected Rosie to be a hot, stinky mess. When I picked her up, they explained that she was shy for the 1st day or 2 and then had fun playing with the other dogs. She ate all her food one day but would pick the next. Completely in line with her personality. I expected her to smell like kennel, and suspect they may have given her a bath along the way. She smelled like a dog that had been shampooed about 2 to 3 days before. Appreciate the fact that they kept her clean and bathed her, if needed. She had dirt on her nose at pick up, completely in line with her personality. They also explained that she could be nervous for the next day or two after pick up. I reunited her with my older dog (left with my dad) on the day of pick up. There was hostility between the two dogs all day. I note that I did not give Rosie a bath that day as she appeared clean, and I was just too tired. I expect she smelled of other dogs which may have added to the hostility (and nervousness which MY DOG explained). I gave both dogs a bath the following morning and they were best friends again and hostility was gone. I would recommend this kennel and will use MY DOG again.
