Playita del Condado is a beach located close to Ashford Avenue bridge in Condado, Puerto Rico. I really liked that It is a smaller beach and that it is more calm being in a cove. It is a safer option for swimming and snorkeling over the larger Condado Beach. we enjoyed both with Playita del Condado being our favorite. There are some food carts and other vendors that set up on the side near Ashford Avenue, and at times as an occasional Police patrol for added safety. We were staying at the Condado Plaza Hilton which provides direct beach access. Lounge chairs and umbrellas are available for rent to the public but are included in the resort fees for hotel guests of Condado Plaza Hilton. We utilized this beach several times and it was really convenient staying at the hotel and enjoyed being able to be able to come and go throughout our stay.
The quieter, more compact sister of Condado Beach, Playita del Condado is known for the clarity of its waters. while you can enjoy windsurfing on Condado beach but due to unsafe conditions for swimming out there, Playita (means small in Spanish) Condado beach is the perfect choice for swimming and snorkeling. Be sure to bring along a snorkel mask to discover the vibrant marine life below. This beach is right at your left side as soon you cross the Puente Dos Hermanos bridge, entering Condado. The beach is small but certainly makes up for it with its clear, calm, aquamarine waters where one can safely swim and snorkel. The water is calm with shallow spots perfect for small children and adults that just wish to refresh, float, and enjoy an easy swim in the clear turquoise water. You can rent a Chair for $5 and an umbrella for $15 for the whole day which is till 5 PM, a reasonable price. Like Condado beach, there is no option for a shower or bathroom here as well. Across the road, there are two small food joints offering snacks items and drinks, the most famous one is of course Pina Colada. Note: there are two beaches, this review is about Playita del Condado. We stopped at this beach while visiting the Condado section of San Juan. The beach is rather small but because it is on a bay it tends to be rather placid, no big waves at all. While we were visiting the northern part of the island was experiencing rip currents. This was literally the only place we were able to go in the water. Luckily they had a merchant who provided Beach chairs and umbrellas. Nearby on the sidewalk there was a food vendor who had snacks and refreshments although if you wanted you could bring your own cooler. We loved the place and will definitely visit again.
Nice little beach with chairs and umbrellas for rent. There aren't any restrooms but that's okay if you're close by. It's a nice area to go swimming because the water is much calmer than being right on the ocean (this is an alcove area that leads to the bay so it's not as choppy). Definitely suggest going here with smaller kids if you need a safer swimming area than the regular beach.
Small laguna Beach. Great for kids and gentle swimming, paddle boarding, etc There are no bathroom facilities. Rent chairs and umbrellas. They told us the bartender from the Hilton sometimes comes a rare drink orders if they aren't too busy by the pool. It does get crowded because it's so contained, but still plenty of room to enjoy the water.
A tiny beach with clear water, fine sand and views of the ocean crashing on the rocks nearby. You'll enjoy enjoy the view of the bridge heading to Old San Juan and the resorts that line the beach. Lounge chair rentals are only $5 for the day and $10 for umbrellas. The warm water (in January) beckons you to wade, swim, or even snorkel in the calm waters.
A fairly busy beach in Condado that is kept very clean by surrounding hotels. Go early to avoid traffic and enjoy calmer waters than further East.
Great location for a quick swim in a very calmed open sea beach. You can park your car a couple of blocks from here or at the hotel nearby (it's like $4/hr). If you are not in this hotel, you can rent the umbrellas or the chairs ($10 / $5) for the whole day and enjoy the weather. They sell food in a small shop located here as well. Very convenient and within walking distance from some hotels in this area. Recommend!

Tucked right in the heart of San Juan, Playita del Condado is proof that size means nothing when it comes to beauty. This isn't one of those sprawling, endless beaches it's a protected, almost tucked-away cove, shielded by rocks that keep the water calm, clear, and ridiculously inviting. While much of Condado's coastline can get rough with waves, this spot stays mellow, making it perfect for floating, swimming, or just standing there with a drink in hand pretending you've got nowhere else to be. Now let's be honest about the vibe. This place packs out. Locals know it, travelers catch on quick, and before you know it, every inch of sand is claimed like beachfront real estate. You want in? You show up early, you bring your gear, and you guard your spot like it's beachfront gold. Blink, and it's gone. And then there's the unofficial ritual: grab one of those smooth, not-too-strong piña coladas nearby sweet, icy, and easy going. But if you came prepared with a little extra "motivation" tucked away? Well, now you're not just at the beach... you're living right. A little mix, a little sun, and suddenly the whole day hits different. What really seals it is that convenience factor. Being steps away from where you're staying? That's dangerous in the best way. One quick walk turns into an all-day affair, and before long, this little stretch of sand feels like your personal backyard. Playita del Condado isn't trying to be the biggest or the boldest it just quietly delivers one of the best beach days you can have in Puerto Rico. And honestly? Probably one of the best beaches in PR and we happened to be staying right across the street from it in an Airbnb so we maximized using it as much as possible while on vacation. It's small so make sure you get there very early or else you won't have a place to lay your towel or blanket. It's also nice to come at night and enjoy the views of the businesses across the water and listen to the waves. Bonus tip, bring cocktails for added pleasure. FYI: The Piña Coladas they sell here are very expensive and low in alcohol compared to most places on the island but it is nice to have one in a pineapple while enjoying the beach and water. BTW: bring everything you need to enjoy a nice day here because it's one of the most amazing spots on the island and if you leave you'll lose your spot. I miss you Puerto Rico!!! I knew about this beach from attending a conference at the Hilton, immediately adjacent to this call little beach. It's great for kids because of the boulders that keep the waves away, leaving calm water, great for snorkeling. The beach is a little messy (cigarette butts), but not so bad it interfered with our fun. There are beach chairs for rent from the hotel, and you can park in the hotel for a reasonable fee. There was also a drink stand across the street that sold coconuts and other treats. read more
