I used to live around the corner from this place, and twice a week I would walk in, order a pizza (or sometimes I'd mix it up with a calzone) almost always with prosciutto cotto, and I'd watch as they chefs deftly 1) made the pizza from scratch, 2) kept the wood fire going consistently in the huge brick oven up front, and 3) rotated and cooked the pizza (or calzone... which is literally just a folded over pizza - sauce inside, no ricotta) to perfection. I miss this place more than I would hypothetically miss my right hand or my sense of smell (this may be an exaggeration, but who knows).

We've basically tried everything on the menu between the eight of us and our 3 dinners here. It's hard to pick my favorite dish, but the steak tartare was so fresh and focused on the taste of the beef with its minimalistic presentation. The Spaghetti alla chitarra al ragù di pesce was very different and the first that I've seen on a menu, but oh so delicious! The Tagliata di manzo con rucola, parmigiano e patate al forno is quite memorable, with its fresh taste of grill on the medium rare sliced steak. The tiramisu here is a must have and does run out, so make sure you have the owner out one aside for when you're ready for dessert. There is just something special in the food here that make it so delicious, the service is attentive and warm, and that tiramisu is really something else! That mistake ended up being a blessing in disguise as the location on the piazza with the statue of Giotto made for the perfect backdrop with Italian families enjoying the beautiful weather. We were greeted immediately, and sat on the piazza for that little extra touristy flare that worked perfect for our group. After recently returning to Florence I had the opportunity to give this bar a try and was blown away by the nightlife and attention to detail with each shot. There are 3 components to Ebys- the Latin food bar across the street, the Ebys bar, and the shot window located near the bar and outdoor seating. There is usually a long line while everyone waits for the owner to hand-craft a specialty shot. We ordered the Mexicano shot and were blown away by his attention to detail. Just when we thought it was over, he pulled out an additional ingredient. There's almost a layer of comedy to how elaborate these shots are. He also explained to us that before taking the shots we have to do a little bow, bite the apple, and then take the shot. So fun! Definitely one of a kind. If you want to order a regular drink, you can go inside. We ordered a Negroni, aperol spritz, and some beers which were great!
