This was my first time on the Gulf side of Florida and in St. Pete's Beach. I decided to stay in this area because I wanted to take day trips and this was the perfect location. Liam and Tanner at the front desk or so kind and helpful. They were great to talk to and extremely friendly! The hotel itself was nice, and my room was very spacious. It even had an old-fashioned fridge and couches in front of the TV that were movie styled. It was a very fun, happy, vibe that was 50s retro inspired.If only the weather was warmer during my visit, I felt like I really could've maximized my time at the hotel. They really made great use of their space with Life-size games, mini golf, and not to mention the beach was just steps away. Look it...It's a huge YES! Cleanliness is an absolute must for me and I can tell you this place knocked it out of the park! Floors counters bathroom and beds were pristine. Appliances are an adorable retro theme. The decor takes you back to a time where life was simpler and fills your senses with nostalgia. I couldn't help but smile while in the lobby that was decked out with the look and feel of times past. Big shout out to the very nice and professional gals in the lobby Cherish and Eva. Great customer service If you love vintage cars - this is your go to place - I promise. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. We had a very minor issue with our keycard but it was immediately resolved literally within 5 minutes. Oh, and did I mention happy hour??? FREE beer and wine is never a bad thing! Lastly, we were able to meet one of the owners who was truly was happy to have us as his guest. They've thought of everything So, if you are ever in the area check them out. read more

Alright ... So take my 4-Star review with a grain of salt. I was in St. P on a very cold and rainy day, so I did not want to spend a lot on a fancy place, since the weather was so bad. I paid about $150, all in, for this place. The free parking was nice, compared to other places. The resort fee was not nice ... because of the weather, the pool was not open, no tiki bar, no beach chairs and other than sitting in the room, there wasn't anything to do. I asked them to remove the resort fee because there were no resort activities open. They would not. In fairness, their fee is lower than some other places ... but $24 seems steep for what 'resort' amenities are offered, even on a nice day. This place is going to be one of your cheapest options in St. P. It's also one of the oldest. This has probably been around since the 1950's and is one of the few remaining old St. P beach style hotel/motels on the strip. It feels old ... but is clean. The decor was not to my personal style as everything felt a bit tacky and cluttered. Kind of like when you drive through a neighborhood and there is always that house with all the solar lights, gnome statues, signs and garish lawn furniture ... that's kind of like this place. Some may like the 'kitchy' tackiness but for me it was a little cheesy and cheap feeling. The thing I hated most ... other than the hard beds which sagged in the middle ... was the bright white flourescent lighting in the rooms. Nothing makes a hotel room feel less cozy than bright white lights that have all the coziness of a bank's lobby. The step-in tub shower would be a close second. I hate to complain at this price point. This is a good value of all you want is a room, or suite, to sleep in and will spend most of your day on the beach, which is only steps from the parking lot. It's old, dated and a bit tacky ... but it's right on the beach and walking distance from pretty much anywhere you want to go. There is no front desk person on call after 10 p.m. so be aware that the hotel is unstaffed at night. There are more modern resorts nearby that will be 30 - 50% higher in price. If value is your biggest concern, this place is fine. If comfort and atmosphere is more your thing, you may want to spend more elsewhere. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this family run establishment. Kudos to them for providing nice, soft towels ... keeping the place clean ... and not charging for parking. read more

The Plaza Hotel completely raised my standards for what a hotel should be. Every detail felt intentional, from the retro cars, vintage phones, and colorful decor to the iconic teal appliances in the rooms. It was playful, nostalgic, and effortlessly photogenic without sacrificing comfort. The pool area was the heart of the property with a pool bar, games, plenty of seating, and an atmosphere that made you want to stay all day. The staff was genuinely kind, welcoming, and always happy to help. The location couldn't be better. You're just steps from the beach and an easy walk to great restaurants and bars, so once you park, you barely need your car. This isn't just a place to sleep. What a nifty retro location! I took my friend to St. Pete Plaza Beach hotel to experience summer evenings in florida on the beach. We wanted to go shelling and St. Pete is my favorite place to do that. We parked and checked in, the little check in desks, the bumpers of 57 chevies and the checkered floor, beer tap and tables are all reminiscent of the 50's and conjure feelings of nostalgia. The pool is lovely, plenty of chairs & chaise lounges. There's grills and large Chess, There are dunes area with chairs to watch the sunset or have a wedding at, a tiki bar, with an awesome bartender. Room rates during the week are amazing, but I've been told that weekends and Spring break are their high times and then they get a lot higher in price, which is understandable. The staff is wonderful! Tanner is first rate at all times. Never see him grumbling. read more

My husband and I were able to nab the last king room on our trip from the Pandhandle to pick up our kids from summer camp. The room and grounds were extremely clean and staff were constantly busying themselves. We enjoyed a very relaxing Friday lounging around in the pool and Gulf. We did not visit the tiki bar, however we were able to enjoy the bartender's choice of New Wave music by the pool! The bar got pretty busy in the later afternoon if that's something you're looking for. The staff were accommodating, kind and friendly. We loved the fact that this older motel is brought back to life. It super contributes to the nostalgia of St. Pete Beach! I wish our home, Panama City Beach, had done the same! read more

Really enjoyed the nostalgic theme of this place. Very charming 50's 60's art deco rooms. A lot of little touches that made my stay comfortable, convenient and relaxing. What this place is DIY/do it yourself! Clean your own bathroom make your own bed sweep and mop your own floors, and if you use the mugs or glasses do your own dishes. If you don't want to sweep or mop it's not a problem live with sands on the floors and in bed. The check in went well tho it was a big bummer and beyond disappointing I didn't get an oceanfront room. This property is very small two story building only have four oceanfront rooms, I don't know if you can see sunset from the first floor oceanfront. My first day was very sad and disappointed I didn't like the room everything look outdated. The beach was dead my boyfriend would say quiet there was no strips of shops. The second day was much better! The staff here are undeniably friendly I think that is what this place is all about, most of them are amazing. I did have three bad incidents towards my last days. The beach towels are paper thin at least old,I would ask for the thicker newer ones if they have, normally they are all nice about it except one time he said these are complimentary (not actually they require deposits) ?I'm looking at him shocked dumbfounded, we are staring at each other, his eyes were telling me to take it or leave it. I was lost for words, aren't the towels always complimentary when staying at a hotel?!!! Here if you don't bring back the towels they will keep your deposit. Second they didn't honor check in offer free glass of wine or beer. Chris's tiki bar dismiss me dismiss my boy friend said never seen it don't know what it is. I brought this up to a front desk girl on my last day she was very snappy and again she was really nice all the time except this time. The housekeeping never showed up at my room except my last day the check out day she did NOT knock on my door she just walked in and she ran out ran away. Outdoor decorations are colorful and cute. He just said the person will sure to be reprimand I met the assistant general manager in my last days, don't remember much I was in the pool drinking, he was a dear and so nice he offered to clean my room!! The hotel charges 11.00 per guest who want to visit you and swim. Parking for a second vehicle is 45.00 a day. We were disappointed to find out this info at check in. Pool was very dirty and cloudy at 5 pm when we wanted to swim We have stayed on the beach dozens of times and never had to pay for guests to visit and swim at any other hotels. I did not see this info on . The pool remained cloudy through its close at sunset. We have a pool at home so we are fully aware that this is not clean . Lesson learned. Room was very clean. Property is well kept. Just disappointing not to be able to swim in a pool. read more

We had a fantastic time at this hotel. Just LOVE the retro vibe throughout, especially all the cool things in the lobby. How many ways can you retool an old chevy!!! Such great creativity and imagination. We loved the crocodile mini golf and all the other games we didn't have time to play. The best part was being right on the beach. Staff was super. The full kitchen in our room worked great for us. Room was spacious (gotta kick out of the "antique" bright red pay phone in the room that actually worked). Pool was great. And you just gotta love the location -- it was the first time we were at St. Pete Beach -- just beautiful. And finally, the price was right. much less than other places in the area. Was there with friends for the first time in March 2021. It's like a throwback on time. Had your parents ever taken you to a hotel in Florida in the 60's? No? Well now you can have that feeling. A truly one of a kind family hotel right ON THE BEACH. And a 2-6ft. Pool alongside to match. Has all sorts of games on the property. A chess set, a miniature golf putting area, a volley ball setup on the sand, a tikki hut for the adults near the pool. A shuffleboard game and a few other things I may have missed. What was especially nice is the rooms are super clean, very cool to the touch of the A/C, a nice large TV above the fridge in the kitchen area. A microwave and dishwasher as well in the kitchenette. They do have a washer and dryer but it's outside the lobby area near the soda machine. There is free coffee in the lobby from 8:00am on. Half priced wine and cocktails at the tikki hut (forgot the time frame) but late afternoon for an hour. The staff are extremely helpful and super polite. There for you. What a treat. Friends took room 201 on the other side, no beach view from the room but the view from their chairs on the upstairs walkway. Each room has two outdoor chairs. The four beachside rooms each have a tiny balcony and gated area of their own on the first and second floors. On site parking with the permit on the dash. Sooo many things going on here. It's not the Hilton or the Marriott but it's not their prices either. This is a very unique place that has to be yours at least once in your life. Super quiet once in the room. No complaints about anything except the shower may be a little too tight...but great water pressure and remember, it was built in 1951 and latest owners since 1988. Turn left a mile or so when you exit and see this huuge fish tank at the RUMFISH Grill but some of our entrees were disappointing for dinner. Go 7 miles left to Tyrone Blvd. to a FIRST WATCH restaurant for a phenomenal breakfast or lunch only. There are a lot of hotels and eateries nearby and enough to do. But enjoy the huge beach area in front of this hotel whether on the sand or on one of their many Adirondack chairs on the sand closest to the hotel. Can't say enough about this place. I know we'll be here again because my friends loved the feeling....as it was in their childhood many years ago. We're now seniors! Enjoy the stay and all the property. read more

Now as to the room: The entire resort is decorated retro style which extends into the room. Our bed was semi-comfortable but really not the bed's fault that I have back issues. Their pillows could definitely use improvement, yet not a reason to not give them the rating they deserve. The bathroom was definitely small. Two large people will have an issue squeezing into the tiny bathroom. The touch of the flamingo toilet seat was very cute. Initially we thought that they had forgotten our towels but all the towels were arranged on our bed. This resort is very nice if you have children. The beach area has little play areas set up with sand toys readily available. The walkway to the beach has sufficient Adirondack chairs in various heights and sizes. This resort also has its own tiki bar and beach volleyball court. One can rent chairs, umbrellas and cabanas right on the private beach which is part of this resort. The sand is beautiful white pressed sand. Make sure to get out early in the morning for shelling! Definitely a solid five star rating for this three-star category resort. read more

Had to change our own bedding including taking off dirty bedding of 2 sofa sleepers. Second room was not ready when it was supposed to be. Housekeeper said it was ready but it wasn't for a couple hours later. They won't allow late checkout past 1 the day we left even with all the inconveniences on our part. Would really like partial refund, I don't think anyone cared or was not aware of the dirty bedding other than one housekeeper because no one tried to make it better for us. read more

This is my favorite place to stay on St. Pete Beach (SPB). The pool isn't big time, so let's get that out of the way. But this is the real deal old school family run smallish Florida motel type "resort" experience right on St Pete Beach. Plenty of tiki huts, laundry facilities, shuffleboard, hammocks, games, toys, mini-mini golf course etc packed into this place. Plus a library and happy hour room. Friendly staff. Homey. And kitchens with Publix and Walgreen's across the street and full sized fridge / freezers for your leftovers and ice. :) Even a shade spot little beach bar hut and Chik File A room food service.. As well as other delivery places. Keep it local peeple. There's a dock across the street at their sister property on the I tercoadtal (and I believe they even loan fishing gear..), their rooms are well appointed for families with kitchen gear, utensils, strainer etc. so you can eat in, and the partial beach and full beach views are pretty bad ass. It's a fairly quiet section of Beach between the Don and public beach area and the more crowded Spring Break section up by Tradewinds to the north. This is NOT a five star fancy hotel with big time frou frou decor and amenities. It's a Florida family vacation getaway spot to relax and enjoy special time with your loved ones in spacious and comfy home style rooms. If you know how to embrace that kind of experience there is no greater romance. :) The owner, Rob, is a super nice guy and involved in the community. There isn't really room service but they have a delivery set up with Chik Fil A from across the street. No joke. It's little things like this that, if you know how to enjoy them, will make you appreciate this St Pete gem. Just know it's not going to perfect or ultra-luxury. It's going to be comfortable and will provide the perfect setting for you and yours to explore and enjoy the beach, kick back and relax, and be free from any kind of snobbery or attempts to keep up with the Joneses. You can walk to EVERYTHING including Publix right across the street. So you have loads of options for restaurants or you can keep it simple and cook something (if you book one of their suites with kitchen area), or just order in. Just enjoy and don't sweat the small stuff! :) It's St Pete Beach and the Gulf Coast of Florida. Relax. They were so very kind and humble;) When we arrived we were checked in quickly and given all the info we needed for a great stay. They went out of their way to help us find the local restaurant we were seeking. Our son and his friend loved the ping-pong table, and my husband and I loved the large connect-four game and the mini-golf course. What an amazing family friendly classic family owned St. Pete Beach hotel. The staff is attentive, always game on and totally focused on providing a positive experience for all guests. The hotel grounds are meticulously maintained with numerous games and activity (the hotel definitely meets the criteria of a "resort"). The property sits right on a an extensive private beach....the kids go beach pool beach pool..all day long. We have stayed at Plaza Beach numerous times over the last five years. We extensively researched the family owned hotels and chose Plaza Beach for our first St. Pete Beach stay...we validated our choice walking the area. Almost all of our vacations have been beach or resort based and our first choice is always Plaza Beach! Checked in.... no clean towels in room, dirty kitchen sponge and small very tiny bugs crawling everywhere... kitchen and bathroom. Put dirty towels and trash out in the morning like we were told to.... sometimes we'd get them replaced sometimes we had to go to office. Would stay there again but only in a pinch! read more
