So when a friend asked if I wanted to see a Broadway musical, I said yes -- and I'm so glad I did. The performance completely blew me away. While the venue may not be as grand or ornate as the Wang Theatre, I really appreciated the layout and the friendliness of the staff. I parked at the Wells Fargo building right behind the theater. I prepaid $10 through Ticketmaster, and the process was very easy and convenient. The parking structure was also easy to navigate. Be mindful of any Padres games happening at the same time, as traffic can get extremely heavy. Luckily, I left home early and avoided the worst of it, but my friend wasn't as fortunate -- she ended up stuck in traffic for quite a while. I would definitely come back to see more shows.

The actors were great. The lines to get in are long but they have a process that works and it gets you through the line quickly. The cement border around the large tree made for a great spot to sit in the shade. There were breakdancers in the middle of the quad. I didn't enter any of the buildings. There were employees bustling in and out during my two hours there. The train runs right next to it. Will be back for further exploration.

There was mentioned that it is open on alternate Fridays, but there are no dates listed so I had to drive from Escondido all the way to Vista, which was about half an hour from my house just to find the doors are locked. It would be very nice to post a calendar or something that shows the dates that the Civic Center is open. This was very frustrating as I called several different numbers, and there were only voicemail messages asking me to leave a message which was not helpful.

It also includes a 73,000ft² Civic Center plaza and the revamp of Lincoln Park. The Civic center/ Lincoln park re-design will be spread over 4.8 acres. It will include a dog park, walkways, children's play area, and landscaping. The whole area feels really safe and I really liked the design.

I've also never seen bikes either so it's a safe pedestrian walking trail. The park is very well maintained. They had many flags up for the week of the 4th. You can definitely get some good pictures here. The parking is easy and the restrooms are clean. I saw new pieces of artwork this time but the Bunnyhenge and Ronald Reagan statue seem to be the more permanent fixtures. If you walk towards the front of the civic center, they have a nice display of desert plants.

My eldest daughter and I were there this past weekend to watch their Pro pickleball championship matches. It was an amazing event! Anyway, I had to drive through the City of Rancho Mirage to get to the event and out of the city to head home. What a beautiful city within the Palm Springs vicinity! Some of the communities are gated. I'm guessing they may be retirement homes for the local residents. Streets are very well maintained. Palm trees are planted all over the place. It was a very nice drive through into the city and out from it. Pleasant and quiet. This city may be a good choice for retirees. P.S. I noticed a lot of the street names are named after celebrities. Sure enough per Google, "Rancho Mirage is home to a number of celebrities past and present, including Don Sutton, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Sammy Davis Jr., Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, Billie Dove and Gerald and Betty Ford."

It detours to drop some runners off at Edison HS, which basically adds 10min to the bus ride. . Had I known, I'd prob have sought nearer parking for the SCM and just bike the rest of the way. . Somewhat peaceful ambience, albeit loud neighborhood.

This review is solely for the 911 memorial. Everyone has a story of where they were on that tragic…read moreday. I was here in Long Beach watching the news and getting ready for school when I watched as the second plane hit the 2nd tower. That memory has been with me since. While on a weekend trip to san diego we visited the air and space museum and were surprised to see a cruiser on display that was actually at ground zero! When I got back I thought to myself "I wonder if there's other artifacts that I can see around town". A quick search showed that there were pieces of steel from the towers here. So on 9/11 of last year, we drove out here to see the memorial and have a moment of silence for the victims. The memorial is located at the bottom of the staircase in a pentagon shaped base and honors all lost in the towers, flights as well as first responders. In the center stands a steel beam that was part of WTC donated by NYC Fire and Police. It's quite surreal seeing an object from that dark day in history.
