Very busy plaza off Las Ramblas. There is a beautiful fountain and many cafes with outdoor dining. We had lunch here during the week, it was delicious & great for people watching.

Plaça Reial is a beautiful landmark in Barcelona. My friend and I visited during sunset/golden hour and the light reflecting off of the buildings was beautiful. It's essentially a square with many bars/cafes on the perimeter. There's a beautiful fountain in the middle of the square. The buildings are residences but the square is open to the public. Overall rating: 10/10

A nice plaza/square with various restaurants surrounding it. Apparently it used to have a statue of a man that was not respected by the locals and was always defaced. They replaced him with a fountain, which is located in the center of the plaza. The tour guides use the fountain as a meeting point.

It's not a far stretch to proclaim this to be my favorite city square in Barcelona. After all, it has the requisite buildings of historic nobility with uniform porticos and terra cotta decorations. There are other joys like the Fountain of the Three Graces in the center (photo: http://bit.ly/2D3i9Eu), the surrounding palm trees, and two of the ornate street lamps designed by a young Antoni Gaudí (photo: http://bit.ly/2I2qQmt). Jamie W. and I always find ourselves here after either meandering through the Barri Gòtic or searching for a sangria break after swimming through the swarming masses on Las Ramblas. Our favorite stop is Les Quinze Nits where on our most recent trip, we nursed espressos and breakfast yogurt on a beautiful Sunday morning (photo: http://bit.ly/2oKe1oK). That also meant we could peruse the flea market where the book sellers were holding court (photo: http://bit.ly/2oT4Gdl). It's also quite a club hopper's delight at night since there are at least three nightclubs that saw my toes trip the light fantastico during my more tender years.

Nice place for tapas, beers & people watching Couple of blocks off the start of Las Ramblas, this square almost reminded me of St Mark's Square in Venice Cafes circle the main square, offering beers & tapas; there are also performers who rotated around the square as well in their "turn" to perform.......playing music or doing feats of gymnastics & will then come around begging for gratuities after they perform.....annoying! Other than that, have to say I wasn't all that impressed - it was nice but way too touristy

First I saw Plaça Reial was in a movie, I found the architect around this area very interested. So it didn't take me long to put it in my check-list. The funny part, in my trip, I didn't really try to look for this place yet, I was already there. I was just wandering around in thier long street from plaça de Catalunya to the harbour. I just walked to the opposite side of the Marcet de la Boqueria, followed the alley and then this square was just right there. The place is brilliant, fully of fine restaurants. It was great place to just chill and have a meal, it is quite romantic place. I was here alone, so I didn't go for the food here. I did spent some moment just enjoy the surrounding here. Although the place was full of people, I could heard the music played by local performer, it just made me feel like I was in a movie. It was just brilliant. And the architectures just simply beautiful. I guess I was here in the perfect timing, I was here around the sunset time, nearly evening, so the lights were turned on, this place just looked amazing. There also many less fancy places around, so sure will find something first the visitors need.

Very beautiful square. Enjoy the view of big palm trees and a fountain. For terraces and tapas though, I prefer smaller squares with cosier terraces and less tourist hordes :-)

Entertaining in the evening, just not many 'good restaurants'.... check Yelp reviews for each and choose wisely!

Gorgeous area spoilt by too many tourists and cafes with outdoor seating. Takes away from the history of the place.

Sign up, pay the $300 and cross it off your bucket list. Pro You are up in a hot air balloon. How cool is that? Con Expensive; early morning; You do not fly over Barcelona. It's definitely not a cheap experience but you'll find that with any hot air balloon ride. We were picked up in Barcelona at the right time and place, and taken out to a hotel/cafe about 45+ min away. We had a quick coffee and met up with the other couple that would be up in the air with us. We got back in the van and drove about 5 minutes to the site. Our balloon was there but the guys were worried about the wind so they did a test and we ended up having to change locations to a second area near a small town about 20 or so minutes away. Then the fun of filling up the balloon begins! It's a very interesting experience. The whole time in the balloon is maybe an hour but I suppose that's all you really need. It's very peaceful and serene. I was kind of hoping that we would see something a little bit more interesting. Once we were done, we had some sandwiches and cava and were taken back into the city. It was a very long morning but overall a very enjoyable experience. Our guides were fun and taught us a lot about ballooning and the fun people they've met/experiences they've had. Very important note - if you have a smaller bladder, there is NOWHERE to go after the cafe.
