Of course I bought there excellent intro deal as J am a curious soul who knows a lot about movement and these women had a special something. I went to Mandy's Restorative class and was struck by how pure and focused it was backed by serious anatomical knowledge. As my fat transformed into muscle, I discovered that I could no longer bend and my body became very taught. After discovering that I become a hunchback when I work out, I decided I needed to be more mindful about adding lengthening and mobility to my healthier lifestyle. In the past month, I've attended a half dozen yoga classes in 4 different styles. Ryan's Saturday 9:30am class (Balance) has been my favorite by a HUGE margin. As a yoga newbie, I've felt very lost in several classes, including a "basics" class that stated it was "good for beginners". I didn't always feel welcomed or supported, or even noticed. I spent most of my time looking at other members to try to figure out what I needed to do. Yoga Reclaimed was the most welcoming. Ryan was wonderful in his instruction and humor. He gave us permission to ask questions, to adjust as needed. We moved through a pose, then were offered additional levels of movement to try, to fail, to play with. I loved that today he instructed us to wobble- it felt very freeing to not limit myself an easier pose just to be stable and poised. I loved that he SHOWED us what we were working towards before we tried it, but also showed us many different progressions we could try. With permission to push myself and wobble around, I discovered that my body could achieve significantly more than my mind imagined it could accomplish. I wish this studio was closer to my home, so I could reasonably attend more often than just Saturdays. Highly highly recommended!!

The men and women that work there are very kind and gracious. Everyone was well meaning, I think. However, the "teacher"/"guide" that I spoke to to discuss my intentions and what not for my experience my first day there said and I quote (because it left such a yucky taste in my mouth) "we sell spirituality here." Spirituality is not something to be owned or monetized. This is wrong! I also went to a talk given by another "teacher" there who spoke that suicide was a sin, and playing jazz music was existing on a lower level of consciousness. Sure, I am not giving you the context in which these things were said. But they were said none-the-less. This is all said from a place of ignorance, I realize that, but words have power, we need to be careful with our language and both those statements are hurtful and dangerous to preach, especially from a place of power as a "teacher." Yucko!!

I did have snacks to supplement bc I got hungry between meals and at night - yoga was interesting and relaxing although sometimes religious-y Overall very friendly staff, well priced, clean accommodations (loved the cabins- helped me disconnect better than the dormitory housing), great food, lovely yoga sessions (didn't make to all bc i couldn't wake up). There is definitely a religious aspect which did make me a bit uncomfortable but it wasn't forceful or anything.
