I spoke to Patty at TLC last April and was quoted a price for what I thought (since I asked for annual contract pricing) was for 2 visits and a lower price should I need any additional service. The a/c check went fine and I paid $325 thinking it was for an annual contract. Yesterday was my furnace check. I called at 10am and was told a service person would be here by 12:30-1:00. Well...it was after 2:00. No big deal. Sean cleaned the filter & checked my gas fireplace (2 years old). It took about 1/2 hour. He then asked me for $325. I couldn't speak. From my spring phone call with TLC, I thought I had an "annual" contract that included the spring & fall visits for a total of $325 - not $650!!! Totally outrageous. $325 for 1/2 hour?!? I could have done this work myself. Live & learn. Oh - when I looked at the contract emailed to me in the spring, it had expired, so I couldn't even review the original paperwork. Make sure you get the contract mailed to you. Don't let TLC rip you off. And Sean (service guy) even solicited side jobs for himself, saying he moves outdoor furniture for TLC customers and helps with small jobs. No thanks! I work hard and am so upset with having to pay so much for such a small job. It's crazy.

Sunday, July 8, 2024 we developed a blockage of both floors and determined it was outside the house. The Roto-Rooter team that covers much of New Jersey out of a number of offices responded within hours, provided a free estimate with no travel fee (Drain Doctor and Zoom Drain wanted $150-199 just to show up, as if they can do any work without leaving their parking lot!) and after unsuccessful snaking, super knowledgeable Gabe brought in the technology (and they offer it all) in a timely fashion- they jetted the blockage partially clear, enough to use video technology to inspect the entire pipe, where we learned the pipe was cracked, destroyed by age, leaks, and roots! They brought in their amazing excavation team and Master Plumber, and even more incredible technology to replace the entire cast iron 4" pipe from crawl space to city line at curb WITHOUT digging up yard,or tearing up the steps and concrete walkway that covered the old damaged pipe! They dug both ends, cut out a small rectangle of sidewalk at curbside, and pulled a brand new, pristine High Density Polyethylene 4" pipe(which is universally felt to last 100 years-Google it- I am not lyin'b ) through the old pipe which gets busted completely out of the way during the process thanks to thousands of pounds of hydraulic pressure! This saves you an easy 10 grand in excavations! Richard 1 and Richard 2 of the Jersey team are both long term RotoRooter employees, so knowledgeable, so good at what they do, and by 2:00 Wednesday, around 48 hours from the time of my first call, the job was complete, site cleaned up completely and thoroughly, leaving two happy condo owners. I am so glad we STARTED with the pros at Roto-Rooter New Jersey, who have great people, all the technology from simply snaking uncomplicated blockages all the way up to TIMELY excavation as needed! All ready for our upstairs owners' renters who are arriving Saturday!
