The wait was surprisingly short despite going for lunch on a Saturday during Halloweentown. Unfortunately after we were seated the service went downhill. It took 30 min for our order to be ready. When we asked to check on it we were brushed off with a "oh we're super busy"; the waitress didn't even pause. Food is standard pub fare; nothing exciting. The chicken sandwich was two chicken tenders, not even a complete piece of chicken which felt low effort. We were maybe 3/4 through our meal when they asked if we were finished and if they can clear our table even though we were clearly still eating. Felt like they were rushing us despite the restaurant not being full. After we were done, the check came immediately but then no one came to collect the credit card. Altogether very poor service. I really thought I'd like this place much more. It had all the desirable ingredients (for me anyway): large airy space in what looks like a converted old warehouse, lots of windows with natural light, a rustic but not dumpy vibe, a handy location on St Helens main drag, and a fairly large (if basic) menu. But a series of small annoyances left me feeling a tad grumpy rather than enthusiastic. Everything started promisingly - I was seated right away, the waiter strolled over quickly and the menu looked good. After that it became a waiting game; 15 minutes to get a glass of water and a drink order in. In that time I saw two other tables who'd walked in after me, get their entire meal served to them. I know it was lunchtime and they were fairly busy, but still. I ordered the Blackened Salmon Sandwich, which, surprisingly, came on a bun, like a burger, with the bun completely overwhelming the small-ish chunk of fish hidden inside. It came with some wilted lettuce, a sad tomato and tired raw onions. On the plus side, the salmon was great, perfectly cooked, with good texture and flavors, though swimming in way too much tartar sauce. My side salad was nothing to write home about either, with iceberg lettuce, dry cucumber slices and rock hard tomatoes. Shame, cause the place is pleasant enough, and the portions of food being served around me were huge. Ok. First of all, I have to commend the staff during Halloween town. This place is packed and we watched the staff work With immense speed and precision that you would think that it would mean sacrificing courtesy and service. Not at all. They are absolutely amazing. Food wise, we ordered the. Broccoli cheddar bites and it was amazing. It's like a fried casserole. 10/10, Definitely recommend I had the mushroom burger and my wife had the Plymouth burger. We have been coming since day one! We have enjoyed most things on the menu except their steak (low quality meat and fatty). We're in the area for a long weekend visiting family and came with a large party for a Sunday early dinner. I ordered a beer and the 2 piece halibut fish and chips with tots. I don't like Cole slaw so I didn't eat that, but the fish was well breaded and fine. The tots were nice and crispy. I liked my beer, but I'm not entirely sure how often they clean their beer lines. My sister had the gumbo and the same Mac & Jack Amber beer and we both had severe nausea, terrible stomach cramps, and experiences I'd rather not share publicly. We should have paid more attention that our beers were a little cloudier than an amber beer should be. Our waitress was great and attentive. She was friendly and came around to check in on us often enough and changed one of the tvs to a game we wanted to watch. There were a lot of tvs so it was nice to be able to watch some March madness. Today is the last time I will be going here because of the food. Previous times I have eaten there were subpar experiences and today definitely was as bad. I had a "grilled" chicken Caesar salad and it was horrible, chicken clearly was a frozen piece of something that didn't even resemble or taste like chicken that was thrown on the grill for a second, lettuce was wilted and the dressing was oily with no taste, it was horrible and I opted to go hungry rather than eat it. I have gone to Plymouth Pub twice now and both times the food was excellent and service on the spot. The first time I had the fish tacos which were delicious and very filling. The next time I went I got the traditional Taco Salad with ground beef. It had the old school deep fried tortilla bowl and just the right portions of lettuce, beef, cheese, guacamole, and salsa. I had wished it would have had either black beans or refried beans but it didn't. Also, got a beer while I was there. It was one of the coldest tap beers I've had in a long time and was delicious. We've been meaning to check out this restaurant since it opened last year, but it has always been super busy! So yesterday we were thrifting in the Saint Helens area and saw that it wasn't very busy, and popped in for dinner. The ambiance and location are great; it is on a corner lot, and it feels very comfortable inside due to the warmness of the wood that is used extensively throughout the building. It is tastefully decorated and there are several televisions with the game playing, and the tables were spaced far enough away to comply with social distancing. My wife ordered a cobb salad and I ordered the patty melt and subbed my fries for a salad. The patty melt was fine; however, the patty was way under cooked to the point where blood and grease poured down my hand and sleeve. I was not asked how I would like my burger; I figured it would be cooked well since it is hamburger and not steak. Instead, it was cooked to below medium rare, and was cold in the inside. My biggest mistake was not sending it back, but in my defense, I was so hungry that I scarfed down half of my sandwich and took the rest home to finish cooking it. So really, it is on me at that point, and will have to insist in the future that the burger be cooked well (I don't understand this fascination with rare burgers; you realize it's a lower quality meat?) My wife's salad was quite lovely though, and she was very impressed with her meal. The service was excellent, and the interior and restrooms were very clean. Prices were very good for the quality and portion size. I would love to come back for breakfast sometime, since they serve it from 7am to 11am. I said yes please, I can not eat that. Upon receiving the bill the hummus plate on there. First, let's talk about the menu. Everything we've had has ranged from good to great, but my favorites are the Reuben and the halibut fish & chips. Both are top-notch, every time. The burgers are also great. Portions are generous. Presentation is not stuffy, but not "just pub food." Drink menu is fun and drinks are made well. The service here is the superstar. The staff is fast, friendly, responsive, and cooperative with each other. It doesn't matter if you're inside, outside, or at the bar - you're treated well and made to feel like they're so happy you came. This is for the owners because we want you to succeed! Speaking as someone who was a waitress and bartender and obviously a diner, here are some things I observed and some suggestions. Put a menu on the window so people can review from the street. For that matter, why not put out signage that says "grand opening"! Everyone who walked in, including us, was confused on what to do. Put a sign up that says "please seat yourself", if that's what you want people to do. I also agree with another reviewer who emphasized customer service. We weren't greeted and were just standing there. I had to walk up to register and ask if we should just sit down. Not sure if someone called out sick or what but there was not enough staff. Only two waitstaff for a lunch rush is not enough. Or hire a busser to bring drinks and clean up tables. Keep silverware and napkins in cups on tables; menus tooone less thing for waitstaff to do. Were the waitstaff pouring beers too? You have a beautiful bar! Staff it with a bartender and they can pour drinks for diners. Some things I'm willing to forgive and let go of: we didn't get our drinks and had to ask for them when our food was brought out. Also, I'm not sure how I feel being charged $2.50 for a club soda. Is that actually what you charge for carbonated water or was the waitress new to the food industry? In regards to the food, it was good. I won't even get into that. I mostly just want to see this place be awesome so we can come back! Our experience as customers was not very good but I know there are growing pains. I just hope you listen to your reviewers who want to see you succeed! I look forward to coming back and changing this to five stars! Edit: As promised, here is my updated review! We didn't take any pictures, but their breakfast was really sad. Cheesy biscuits and chorizo gravy. It looked like meatballs in red sauce. The biscuits were small, round and barely edible. For $16 dollars you'd think you'd get eggs, potatoes and a good size biscuits, but nope 8 tiny little marble size dough balls (hard as a rock) in a flavorless sauce. Ridiculous! I got the fried chicken Benedict with polenta. Small tasteless polenta cake discs, the hollandaise was broken, eggs over cooked, and the chicken were chicken strips, seriously! It's breakfast and for $16 dollars you put chicken strips on my Benedict. Stay away this place is not homemade like they say and absolutely tasteless and over priced. read more
