I can't say enough good things about Ichabod's Restaurant. I came in today with out-of-town guests who are visiting us for Christmas, and Ichabod's absolutely delivered on every level. When you have family in town for the holidays, you want to take them somewhere that feels welcoming, comfortable, and has good food and this place checked every box. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and genuinely family-friendly, not rushed or chaotic, even with how busy it can get around the holidays. It's the kind of spot where you can actually relax and enjoy your time together. The staff was on top of everything from start to finish. Friendly, attentive, and clearly experienced (I overheard one say she had been working there since before one of the regulars kids were even born, 30 years I believe), they made sure drinks stayed full, orders were correct, and everyone at the table felt taken care of without being overbearing. You can tell the team communicates well and actually cares about the experience they're providing, which makes such a difference, especially when you're hosting guests and want to catch up. The food was excellent, we all had breakfast this time, it was well-prepared, and satisfying across the board. Everyone at our table left happy, full, and smiling. Ichabod's really shines as a community staple--a place that feels like home, except they do the dishes. I have lived in Scappoose for only a few years, but love this place. We have so many memories tied to this restaurant already. When our dog passed and we had no desire to cook, we picked up biscuits and gravy. Promptly seated after entering on a busy Friday, the waitress asked if I'd like coffee or water. I had decided to try the country fried steak breakfast before entering. I gave her my order and in less time than it took to look at a few emails my breakfast arrived. The portion was generous, the eggs exactly as requested. I've been here multiple times and I've had their chicken fried steak and French toast- all delicious! This time I took new-timers and we all had some sort of sandwich. I had the Club Sandwich with tater tots and I will say, I felt like it had a a few too many slices of tomato BUT it was still delicious! Their ranch is also delicious! I was told the Philly cheesesteak with onion rings was also good. The Western burger looked like it may have been missing the bbq sauce but the person enjoyed it either way. Services is always great. We are always checked on, making sure we have enough coffee and making sure we aren't kissing anything. I will say, the wait time can vary. Most of the times we've waited like 15 minutes or less, of course if you're with a big group it'll be more wait but I cannot stress how worth it it'll be! Ichabod's never disappoints! It was a busy Friday afternoon and the place was packed but they got us treated quickly and food was great. They also serve alcohol! The ambience is friendly and comfortable. This place was awesome. My best friend took me out yesterday for my birthday and we had five people in our party. The bill was about $80. Which is not bad for five people. My omelette was bomb. I had the club bomb which had the chicken, bacon, ham, and the cheddar and tomatoes. It was yummy. My grandson had the same thing and then my other grandson had the taco salad. For $17 I got biscuits and gravy, some tater tots and a cocktail. The drink; cinnamon whisky and Angry Orchard cider had a fancy name that led you to believe it'd be a hot Christmasy drink. Being that it was really cold out and we were on our way to cut down a Christmas tree, I ordered it. What I got was a cold beer mug with cider and what tasted like Fireball. I drank it but it left a lot to be desired. My biscuits were large and quite good but the country sausage gravy was a tad thick. Not that I can do better, but my mom can. However, it was fine and I left with a full belly. The place was clean and adorned a small Christmas tree. If I had to describe it, I'd call it a diner. One you stop at when travelling through. Terrible service!!! Waited 5 minutes to get a table which is fine. Wanted Corn beef and cabbage. Was told there was plenty of it. Got our drinks and waited over 5 minutes to place our order. Our waitress was helping other people that arrived after us. Then they ran out of corn beef and cabbage so we left. If we had been able to place our order "on time" we would've gotten some. So, I had the everything omelette. It did not disappoint! Bacon, sausage, ham and bunch of veggies, it was a full meal for sure. Driving through Scappoose at lunchtime, decided to try this place. Basically a large diner with good comfort food. I had chicken tenders with sweet potato fries. The tenders were good, the sweet potato fries were really good. One co-worker had a Reuben and enjoyed it, the other co-worker had a burger and liked it. Prices are good and the wait staff was very friendly. Not a lot of choices in Scappoose but I would recommend Ichabod's. read more

I was directed to this restaurant in Scapoose Oregon. I had onion rings with a French Dip sandwich. The sandwich was just ok but the onion rings were so bad I couldn't eat more than 1. It was non tasting and way to cooked. Almost burnt. I won't be going there again. The service was ok but never came back to see if it was ok. Very disappointed!? read more

Decided to have the French dip, which was all cheese and vey little meat. Bland tasting! My husband got the triple decker Rueben and it was a sad sandwich. 2 thin slices of pastrami and it also had cheddar cheese on it. Honestly it was absolutely disgusting. The sevice was great..and so was the coffee . I hope my new sweater is not ruined. My sleeve came in contact with something on the table surface that did not get wiped off. I am very upset about this and noticed it after we drove off. My husband and I ordered the eggs benny. Mine was a classic order with one pancake and my husmand's order with baby shrimp. We each ordered one pancake but he must of looked hungry because the server brought 2 for him. The pancakes are a nice size but my husband could eat only one. The eggs benedict portions are impressive and fill up the whole plate. I should say the hollandaise sauce fills up the whole plate. The sauce is to an excess and I think they could save money by not smothering the bennys so much. We come to visit at least four or five times a year. It is a 35 minute drive for us, but the scenery from Portland to Scappoose is nice and the service and food once we arrive makes the whole deal worth it a few times over. There are not many places within reach that give you the small town feel. Everyone from newborns to great grand parents gather here to eat. We have only ever been for weekend breakfast and highly recommend the biscuits and gravy, the chicken fried steak and eggs and the eggs benedict. The coffee is also nice - diner style and to top it all off the staff are friendly, courteous and attentive. It has been eight years that we have made this pilgrimage and we will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. read more

Really disappointed the last few months. The food is ok...but the service has completely tanked. I'm not going to sit at a table for 10min just waiting for a menu and coffee while the waitress chats and they are not busy. The food isn't that great for that. Being ignored is unacceptable. I used to love Icabods and going every Sunday for breakfast. They are not open on Sundays or Mondays anymore. The new owner needs a talk with her staff..there's other places in town I can be treated with respect....I recommend heading there. read more

I like breakfast. I especially like CANNED hash. So I asked our bubbly server if by any chance they serve hash from a can... To my delight she said yes! She also told me that they add fried onions to it to take it up a notch - Boy Howdy! It was awesome. I also had the hash browns with onions too! Booyah! Perfectly crispy fried h'browns that paired deliciously with my sunnyside egg yolk! They also serve English muffins... The totally forgotten bread option. Some folks said the food was bland, I did not have that issue. Just wanted to point out that not everyone wants to coat their food with salt- so I appreciated the fact that it wasn't overly salted or seasoned. It's also why there are shakers on the table FYI. Hot cakes, baby. As in: actually hot. And just the right fluffiness, not too cakey, tasting like they should, I'm thinking probably real buttermilk. When the cool but not frozen pat of butter instantly melts on contact: pancake samadhi. Also: very reasonable prices. A busy place on Saturday morning but the wait was short. Coffee is okay, not great but not bad. Service: excellent. My cup rarely reached half empty. And yes, when we're talking about coffee, it's half empty, not half full. read more

Definitely good, inexpensive, American diner food. Exactly the kind of generic comfort food that you would want and expect, with all day breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, and some chicken/fish/steak entrees. The staff is usually very friendly and accommodating. As I said, the food is reasonably- to well- priced, typical over sized American portions. Only caveat is that it can get busy from the senior citizen crowd, weekend mornings or late afternoon/early evenings, so just a head's up. read more
