    Uber Lawns & Landscape

I hired Uber Lawn and Landscape for weekly mowing and landscape bed maintenance over the past two…read moreseasons. While there were a few positives, the repeated problems ultimately outweighed them. To their credit, they hand-smooth the mulch after installation, and the beds initially look very nice. However, they don't properly lower or edge the beds along patios, sidewalks, driveways, and stepping stones, so mulch washes onto these surfaces every time it rains. I raised this concern last year, was assured it would be corrected, and then had to closely monitor the work this spring to make sure it was finally done properly. When I asked the owner, Sam, how the mulch was supposed to stay off the patio and stepping stones when the dirt was level with the top of the hard surface, he didn't have an answer other than to say "this is how we normally do it." The bigger issue has been the repeated damage to my lawn during mowing. Last year, the crews frequently mowed when the lawn was wet, drove the zero-turn mowers quickly, and made sharp turns around trees. The result was bare soil around nearly every tree where the tires had torn up the turf. At the end of the season, I walked the property with Sam. He acknowledged the damage, said they would seed the damaged areas around the trees that fall, and said he would speak with the mowing crews about slowing down and avoiding tight turns. When spring arrived, the seeding had never been done, so I had to pay them to seed those areas myself, along with a large area where new topsoil had been added. After three weeks of watering, none of the grass they seeded germinated. By comparison, grass seed that I applied myself in another area grew well under the same conditions. Because we were preparing to sell our home, I hired another company to hydroseed the damaged areas so the lawn would recover quickly. About a week later, Uber returned to install mulch and pushed wheelbarrows directly across one of the newly hydroseeded areas, damaging the young grass and forcing me to reseed it again. Unfortunately, this became a repeating cycle. I would reseed damaged areas, the mowing crew would return, and some crew members would once again drive over newly established grass or make sharp turns around trees that tore up the lawn. I spoke with Sam several times, and I also spoke directly with members of the mowing crew. To be fair, some crew members were careful and did excellent work. Others were not, and I repeatedly found myself repairing the lawn after they left. The final incident ended our business relationship. One crew member drove very fast, made tight turns around nearly every tree, scalped the lawn in multiple places, left a tire skid approximately 15 feet long where the grass was completely removed, created an area of bare soil roughly two feet in diameter from scalping with the mower deck, and drove over newly established grass around several trees. At that point, I told Sam I did not want that employee mowing my property again. A few days later, I terminated my prepaid contract because I could no longer continue repairing my lawn after each mowing. Sam refused to refund the unused portion of my prepaid mowing and landscape maintenance services. He also told me that the damage I observed was "typical wear that occurs when mowing a lawn." Prospective customers can decide for themselves whether bare areas around trees, long tire skid marks where grass has been removed, and repeated scalping of the lawn fall within their expectations of "typical wear." Based on my experience over two seasons, I cannot recommend Uber Lawn and Landscape. If you do hire them, I would strongly recommend avoiding prepaid contracts and carefully inspecting your property after each service.

In June of 2025, I received an estimate for a driveway install for $8100, which included materials…read morefor 5/8 crushed run gravel totaling $1900 for that material alone. I expected a five week window for the install and five months later it was done. After the installation, I saw that I would be charged $800 for a roller rental yet the driveway was never rolled. They just drove a skid steer back and forth over it. They did admit fault and took the cost of the bill but I also found that the materials used were not what was in the estimate we agreed upon, but that they had used a cheaper material. When I talked to Luke, the crew member leading the job, he assured me they used the proper material. When I sent photos proving them wrong, I received a call from Sam, the owner, who admitted that they changed materials from the original estimate and that those materials only cost $1300. He claimed we still owed full price because his labor costs miraculously went up the exact difference in material prices. He told me that the estimate sent to me, with individual line items stating exact cost to the penny of materials, labor and equipment was just a general idea and that whatever changes they made were irrelevant because I wanted a $8100 driveway and that's what I got! I claimed breach of contract because changes were made from our original agreement and he said he just claimed to install a driveway and that's what I got! Needless to say, I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and he said he didn't care. He just wanted his money. He even admitted that on other jobs they do with landscaping, that they might promise a customer 18 trees or plants installed with so many yards of mulch yet they will only install 15 plants and use less mulch but still charge the same because he only charges by the job, not the scope of the promised upon estimate. So he admitted that he cuts back on materials and still charged people full price! That was his defense! That he cheats customers! He then became irate and accused me of trying to nickel and dime him once the project was done. I am sorry, but $600 material markup is not nickel and dime. It is half a week's pay for me. The job was done in two days and both days I arrived at 2:45 pm, after work, and the site was empty of anyone working, telling me it was a day's worth of work or rather an 8 hr job. He charged me $75 dollar an hour MORE for labor alone since he claimed labor was the price hike. Very shady and dishonest, by his own admission. Buyers beware!!!

He was friendly, professional, and very thorough. He spent a couple of hours with us, and as he was doing the inspection, walked us through different areas of the interior and exterior of the house to point out issues (overall minor thankfully) that we should be aware of moving forward. At the end of the inspection, he took his time going through the final report with us to make sure we understood everything and that he had addressed all of our questions. We received an electronic copy of the report the same day. My partner and I both felt really comfortable asking questions and didn't feel the slightest bit rushed. Before David left, he even provided us with some local recommendations (e.g., restaurants, places to check out, etc.) knowing we are from out of state :-) We couldn't have asked for a better experience. My real-estate agent was equally impressed and took down David's information so that he could refer clients to him in the future. We would 100% work with David again and highly recommend! Thanks again, David! You were a life saver!
