My first visit was pleasant and reassuring; in the evaluation I explained that I had fibromyalgia and had undergone cervical spine surgery and was very reactive, so caution was needed. On my second visit, Scott spent a lot of time on my neck. Apparently he did something to a cervical disc (two other PTs have since explained to me how this happened). By the time I got home I was in severe pain that only got worse over the next several days. I saw my internist who immediately knew I had a pinched nerve and sent me for an MRI that confirmed a bulging disc and nerve compression. Eight weeks on (and after a ruined, agonizing trip to Europe), I am waiting for a cortisone injection and hoping desperately to avoid surgery. The office called me a while back to see why I hadn't returned and I explained. I haven't received any followup call or apology -- it seems fear of lawsuits rules. I don't even know what to say as a warning; I'm sure the damage was unintentional, but it's done, and it's probably permanent. Just -- be careful, I guess.

No facility is perfect in every respect but you have to understand what goes on there. I've seen the aides working and always using the utmost of care and patience with everyone, even those that don't deserve the kindness they are receiving. I've seen families make demands which can be outrageous. Now, my take on this: The staff is very attentive to all needs and run a clean, attentive operation. I've heard residents yell to nobody in particular to 'Get me out of here!', 'I want to go home', 'Who the hell are you?'. Patients with mental deficiencies are handled in the best way possible with the maximum of patience. I could never have the same level of patience as these aides possess. The food is properly prepared according to the dietary needs of each person. The aides maintain a clean room and bed for everyone and patiently answer questions as the family asks. I noticed that at all levels, time was spent with me to assure my questions were answered completely. I found the highest level of professionalism and courteous response from all departments. Nobody ran from me upon seeing me approach from down the hall knowing I probably had questions to ask. Breda showed outstanding patience with me to make sure I understood the answers and requirements from Medicaid which can be a nightmare at times, same with Elise. Veronica always put me on the right track to getting my questions answered and issues resolved making the contacts for me. Vivienne in rehab made sure my friend received the proper rehab, Lopita and Daria, the head nurses for the ward, made sure my friend got his meds and attention when needed. Even the nurses and aides in the most difficult ward, Apple, maintained a high level of expertise in handling some difficult residents. There were others but it's needless to go on. Yes, there may be problems that occur, as at any home, but it must be remembered that there are about 160 residents here that all need some level of attention. The home does not go into a panic when a resident yells that his drinking water isn't cold enough. The place is well run and much better than the other homes I've visited. I must rate this home as 5 Stars, representing the highest level of care. R.

I came to PR recently and spent 12 days in rehab. The staff was competent but some were indifferent…read moreat best. After two days, my ear buds were stolen. The food was awful. The kitchen was inattentive to dietary needs. The head of nursing is a liar. I had a tb test which needed examination after 48 hours. She said it was done (note: days later, another admin apologized because they did not examine the test site in a timely manner). Another admin said the facility would reimburse me for the lost ear buds. Still waiting. Finally they did everything possible to delay my release, so they could collect the maximum payout from Medicare. This joint is primarily a money making machine. Avoid it if possible. Oh, one more thing: my room had a broken bed. Took two days to repair it. A harbinger of things to come. Some good people there, but avoid if possible.
