I had been a PNC customer since I moved to Pennsylvania in 1998. My first job in PA was with PNC so that's when I signed up for their banking services. Fast forward to about a year or so ago I received a $1000 deposit from UC to my PNC checking account and I withdrew it to use for whatever reason. I received a second deposit of the same amount and transferred it to another account. After these two transactions, PNC informed me that my account was overdrawn by $1000. I have no idea how I was able to withdraw $1000 from my account if it wasn't in there to begin with. It was deposited and I transferred it. I'm assuming there was a glitch in their system but whatever the heck happened, apparently it was MY fault and not THEIRS. Needless to say, I no longer bank with them. I have been a customer at PNC for over 40 years. My credit rating is over 800. My husband and I were declined for a home equity loan because we didn't submit w2s which we were not told about, and the guy servicing our loan never communicated or updated us about the status of our loan. I had to call the 800 number to find out what happened. We will be withdrawing all of our money and moving to Dollar Bank and submitted a formal complaint about the guy we worked with. Absolutely the worst service I've experienced. I was trying to make extra "principal only" payments to be able to pay off my car sooner. The customer service rep advised me to mail a check because processing an extra payment on their portal doesn't allow "principal only" options. So, I took her advice and mailed a check, notating on the check "principal only payment," as also wrapped the check into a regular size piece of paper that also stated in large black sharpie...."PRINCIPAL PAYMENT ONLY". I mailed the second check the next month and did the same. I logged onto my account and of course neither payment was processed as Principal Only. I called, because they don't have a chat option of course, to get help fixing it. The gentleman assured me he would back out the payments and have them applied correctly. He did this, and then I get a letter in the mail suggesting I stopped making payments on my loan and that I still owed them money. I ignored those letters, assuming it was automatically generated, idiotic or not, by their system. I was right. I then mailed a 3rd extra payment in the same manner as before. Again, not applied correctly. I was so irritated by their incompetence, I scraped together the money and just paid off my car right then and there online. I don't understand how their people are so incompetent and their processes are so antiquated, but I am certain of one thing. I will never do business with PNC again, and I will tell anyone who will listen about my terrible experience with them. Prior to all of this, I had a name change and was trying to get information about how to change my name on their records. I was quickly told I would have to go to a local branch to get that completed. The Rep obviously didn't bother to look at the State where I live. If she had, she would have noticed that there isn't a PNC Bank in the entire State. So lazy! Instead of giving me all the options, she just tells me to go to the local branch. Eventually, they sent me the forms I needed as well as a fax number to send them back to. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH PNC AGAIN. What a relief to be done with them!! The very worst bank we have ever dealt with. Asked within the first year of loan to adjust payment date and was denied which cost us so many late fees. Now trying to pay off the loan and it's is a joke. Worked with a manager (Daniel Nesbitt) and he was the rudest and was so put out because we did not have a local branch to run over the numbers, as I had ordered a customer payment history and I needed some explanations. He gave me incorrect information, I think to just get me off the phone and when I told him I was going to file a request for explanation he told me I was just wasting my time because they would give me the same ending. Heloc, look elsewhere. Having never dealt with PNC, I can say I would not recommend this bank. The process to get a HELOC with PNC has been poor at best. I dealt with the local branch, met with loan officer and provided all the documents requested. More and more documents were requested and I complied. Then came the appraisal, done by xome, the drive by appraisal came in about half of the actual market value of the home, comps were not comparable and at this point I should have put the brakes on the loan process, but I didn't... After 6 weeks of, we need this and we need that without the bank acknowledging the poor appraisal, I finally walked away, my loan officer at the local bank ghosted me soon after I initially applied, so I give the local branch zero stars. read more

The staff here is excellent. They have a person dedicated to greeting you and allocating someone to your needs. There are always tellers available, and they always have a positive attitude--not just a lack of a negative attitude, but an actual genuine desire to help you. At ar. 10 am - I stopped at the aforementioned Bank PNC - Squirrel Hill - 5800 Forbes Ave - 15217 - today Jul. 21 - 2021 (I have been using their services for a long time) and asked the short guy - evidently - manning the front desk if I could do a simple change of address procedure - since it didn't let me do it on line - whereupon - he agreed but said that he will have to finish with his current customer. After he finished with his present customer he disappeared for a long time into the back of the bank. Another teller - then - offered to help me. It was not busy at that time. Then the first, short guy manning the front - appeared and started to lecture me about the necessity to make "an appointment" before stopping at the bank. Why then did he originally - agreed to change my address - (it would take him no more than 5 minutes) - then he - evidently - changed his mind quickly or what? Hate this bank, member for 6 years, loans paid on time with interest, totaling 2000 just in interest, account gets overdrawn 6 dollars during hectic wedding weekend can't get the 36 dollar fee waived because within 12 months I was already refunded a late fee when my card was used in Southeast Asia & disputed that it was fraudulent. So the one time in 6 years that I actually make a mistake PNC doest care they need their 36. Never again PNC. Been a member for almost 8 years now. Bought a new cell phone last weekend. They shut off my card without telling me, not sure why, was not overdrawn. Then continued to spam me with 17 calls about suspicious behavior no matter how many times I confirmed the purchase. Didn't find out they froze the card until the weekend after trying to order out. Can't call customer service because it's a weekend. They make their sourcing providers work holidays and be ready 24/7 but won't do the same for their own customers. Do not bank with PNC. Especially, do not take any loans from them. I took an auto loan from them with certain disclosures. On the day of the purchase, they went against their own disclosures, including the fact that they have their own book value calculation of a vehicle, which is considerably less than the dealer/KBB value. I ended up paying additional 2k from my own pocket. Not only that, they are very sneaky, and I just realized that after initial month, they just increased my interest rates by 2 % !!! I had a $41.98 payroll check. The check was trough pcn bank. I am a single mom, who has had a major hardship due to covid. So my checking account through independent is in the negative so they could not cash the check. So I went to PNC to cash it. I provided 2 forms of ID. My drivers license expired on December 3rd. I can not get an appointment at the secretary of state yet to renew it. Due to my expired license that is out of my control, they would not cash a $41.98 check. Horrible bank. I was charged for a $450.00 payment from a Car dealership that I did not do business with, This put a negative balance on my PNC account. I called the Dealership and they said more likely than not one of their customers accidently put the wrong account number that matched mine. They had also checked to see if someone was using my name, and they had no record of my name or last 4 of my social. I called PNC after hours customer service and did not get any help at all. I even heard the CSR Laugh a little hearing me somewhat frantic due to some autopays the next day that I will be responsible for plus the overdraft charge. My question was how can someone that does not have my name and social was able to take a payment out of my account, Are there not securities in place. When PNC approached me to apply for a line of credit I was suspicious and very hesitant. There was little about their LOC program online and the language of their solicitation was overly vague. I didn't need any loans at the time but Leslie, my rep was informed and personable and overcame all my objections. I applied and quickly secured six-digit LOCs for two of my businesses not expecting to need them. Then one of my businesses was identified as a perfect franchise model so we used the LOC to fund that endeavor and make a few improvements to the model business. Then the Coronavirus struck and the other business was able to continue to function when cash flow slowed to a crawl. Throughout the process PNC had my best interests at heart, I am so glad Leslie swayed me to open these accounts. Nothing but positive feelings towards PNC, they have been hugely helpful! I was a customer for over 20 years until they charged me $158 for a $40 over draft. The problem is, it took them 10 days to send me a letter to inform me that I over drafted and then charged me every day. Considering that you have my email and phone number it would've been nice of you to inform me immediately that my account was overdrawn. TLDR; this bank is fine while you are living in the city that you opened your account in. Don't expect much more from there on forward. This is the most disappointing bank I have ever used, I must say. After not being provided any notice ( through emails or any of the other mode of communication a bank usually sends information through), about the fact that my PNC would become dormant, I am essentially told that the remaining balance could possibly be sent over to the state. Regardless of this detail being included in the initial agreement, wouldn't you expect that there is some sort of prior notice that a large amount of money is being sent to state? I mean I would think this is the most basic common courtesy. Furthermore I was told that these sort of "courtesy" calls would be given to customers from their "personal" branch. I mean, why in the world would I need a personal relationship with a bank to deal with matters that concern an online bank ( stressing on the word 'online' - a word used to access things world-wide not PERSONALLY). I cannot believe I am yelping about a bank, but here is why. About 6 years ago I was with another Squirrel Hill bank. I swore up and down that these guys new what customer service is...The I moved to PNC. I was wrong about my bank. At this branch: -You get a greeting EVERY TIME you walk in. If the desk welcomer isn't there, through ESP or something, a non-teller employee will shoot you a very happy greeting. -A bank sans tellers? Not here. On heavy days with 80 year old women cashing in their change and annoying housewives withdrawing their weekly doctor allowance, you will not be waiting more than a few minutes because they always got people working. Also they are freaking so sweet your teeth hurt when you're done. -Forgot your account number? Give 'em your debit card and they will fill out a deposit slip for you. -Ascetics...This place looks like Gringotts from Harry Potter, but no ugly goblins here. The staff is clean-cut, void of open lesions and make you want to work there just for the dress code.. -You're family not a customer. I get calls from them about once every 2 months (not annoying, but don't feel ignored) to diversify my money. Want to say "no", no worries. But, PNC feels like they actually care...yeah! they care. -Lollipops!!!! Oh yeah!!!! As if saying "We will do everything for you to the best of our ability, but have a treat on us" this bank (and I think a lot of PNC banks) give you an old fashioned lolly to take with you. All banks conduct legalized fraud, but PNC does it under the radar. This review has been a long time coming, but unfortunately, you won't care what I say until it happens to you. :) Let's start with ATM's, you wanna use one? Then you better use a PNC or an extra $2.50+ fee will be added on top of what ever the other ATM charges you. That's right, lets say your in Tokyo (only 1 bank in the heart of Tokyo will accept your card anyway, all others will fail ) and they say $5.00 fee (in Yen), well PNC will tag on their own $2.50+ just because they can. What dicks you say? well let me also say another thing about international travel. DON'T USE YOUR PNC CARD INTERNATIONALLY. PNC uses Visa which they decided to set a 3% charge too. So spend $100 PNC will take $3, ON EVERY PURCHASE. My previous international travel bank Fidelity has since sold out, but before they only charged a 1% fee. Before you laugh and giggle about pocket change then picture this. International at that you can only pull out up to $200 from, sub-track 10% (3%+ ATM Fees) of that and realize that it goes directly into the pockets of your financial institution, of which your money is supposed to keep afloat while they rob you blind any which way they can. Sheetz ATM surcharge free? Think again, Sheetz won't charge you, but PNC will. read more

I wasn't very impressed with this bank. They will charge you fees if you don't have enough money in your checking account doesn't meet certain min. required balance. So the business bank accounts are not technically free. The upside is that this bank is very good at financing its customers with Line of Credits. They have probably the best unsecured line of credit programs in the city. The reason is because they have all the money!! read more
