CHILDREN BEWARE! Think twice about opening a child's account here…read more My wife opened an account in her name for my son. A few years later, we moved out of town. I called the credit union to close the account, which only had 12 cents left in it. They refused to close the account over the phone and told us we would need to drive three hours back to O'Fallon to close it in person. I was told that if we stopped using the account and brought the balance to zero, it would close automatically. Unfortunately, my son--being a child--forgot to cancel an automatic withdrawal from one of his $1 online games. After about a month, the credit union had charged $100 in fees ($25 every two weeks). They called us on March 10, 2026, asking for payment. At that point, we still believed there were only 12 cents left in the account. After about an hour on the phone, they agreed to reduce the fees to $50. I was instructed to download their mobile app and pay the balance ($65.03) using our checking account, which we did the same day (March 10, 2026). The next day, I received an email stating the payment didn't go through because the credit union had closed the account. The email said: "Your transaction was rejected during review. The date of the transaction is: 3-11-2026." Remember, they wouldn't close the account when we asked earlier unless we drove three hours to do it in person. When I called again, they told me the account had now been closed and that I could no longer use the mobile app to make a payment. Instead, they said I would still have to drive three hours to pay in person. On top of that, they charged my son another $25 fee to close the account. WOW what a scam. The credit union ended up wanting $125 in fees for automatic payments totaling about $20--it took all of my son's Christmas money. Nice place for a child to learn how the banking system really works. This is exactly what happened, and here is the account number so they can't respond with a lame reply like, "We don't know who you are," or "We will look into this and get back to you." 6548090062

Who knew Capital One had a café Located inside of West County Mall. I came across this gem one day…read moreand been hooked ever since. The staff here are always so nice and polite, and this is a great spot to get away from all the noise when you want to relax or get a little work done. I ordered a honey lavender iced latte. It was smooth, creamy, and not too sweet. He honey and lavender mesh so well and you can taste all of the flavor. They sell pastries as well. I ordered a ham and Swiss croissant. The croissant was fluffy and flakey, and the warm ham and cheese brought comfort to my belly. They were out of the marmalade that comes with it so i wasn't able to taste that. If you use your capital one card, you get 50% off your drink. You also get access to their meeting rooms and private bathrooms. There is plenty of seating inside.

Concept is interesting - part cafe, part bank, part workspace, part bank. The space is modern and clean, and set up perfectly if you want to sit and get work done. Lots of seating and outlets with free wifi. I didn't get to try the coffee and got the matcha instead which was pretty refreshing. The menu also included light food options like sandwiches and pastries which are convenient if you want something quick. Another big perk is you get 50% off drinks if you have a Capital One or Discover card which makes it a much better value and a reason to come back.
