So, I never really had much opinion about utilities companies in the past. after all, we kind of need electricity, water and gas to lead our lives, right? Well, one day, somehow I noticed somewhere that PNM offers a free checkup at a home to learn how one can reduce energy use. I mean...I don't think I used much energy (well...other than embarrassingly blasting some air conditioner and heater during certain seasons), but I thought I could learn a thing or two to save me even some small amount of money. Plus, it's free...why not right? I also was wondering if it was a total scam, too...and I'm happy to report that no..it's real legit! It was pretty painless registering and signing up to have a PNM employee come to my house and audit to help see where I could make energy more efficient. I sat back after signing up...not even sure if it was a scam...and a few weeks later..it was the day! Happy to report that PNM actually communicated/confirmed the day before/of the the appointment time, too! The day of a PNM employee showed up and happy to talk to me, go through my home and found ways to help suggest/replace some light bulbs to make my electicity use more efficient! He also took the time to help give me some suggestions on where I could look into to reduce energy use as well. Best of all, he came over..helped me replace all the inefficient lightbulbs (gosh..some of those were super dirty bulbs that were there and never replaced when I purchased my home several years back then!!). At the end...the walk through..and a checkup took maybe an hour ish or so. I was pretty happy about it and wished I knew more about this service (and how I could have (and sadly missed :() gotten some rebates getting some appliances at my home even a few years back!). The guy also gave me free light bulbs (and even helped replaced them!), some electrical outlets, night lights and showerheads that make water usage slightly more efficient, too! While I don't know much whether PNM charges me too much or too little (and going solar is still something I'm contemplating), I would have to say, I was really happy with this FREE home energy usage checkup service by PNM! If you are a PNM customer and had never done one...PNM does it for free for you! So might as well get it (and save some money along the way!). read more

Thinking it would be best to notify PNM of a possible fire hazard with wires in a tree/hedge near our house, I called PNM Customer Service. After a wait of over 5 minutes, which wasn't too bad, I got a rep on the line who quickly seemed to take an odd line with me, interrupting me and telling me that given my description, the request would probably get pushed back to her. She said I needed to hold while she tried to form some sentences about my description. What a strange way to put it. Was she writing with AI? If the lines were not sagging or broken, there was no urgency, I was given to understand, even though one cable had seemingly broken a branch already by wearing against it, and a smaller wire was snagged upward by the trunk. Okay, not completely dramatic, but a problem if a fire breaks out under these dry conditions. The rep said we didn't even know if these were power lines instead of, say, telephone lines. True. I guess I'll have to do some more investigation. But the whole tone of the conversation was condescending on her part (she assured me it was not). A little kindness and humor would have gone a long way with me, but instead I was left to feel ridiculous for calling in the first place. So much for trying to be a good citizen and dealing with a company to whom we pay good money monthly. read more

I called to deactivate my service cause I moved, I was still charged I called to sort it out and they claim no call was made so I still need to pay for a entire month that I was not in the apartment. they make a mistake and I must pay. I asked for a usage investigation and nothing. PNM you guys really need to take in costumer consideration or do more to make things right for people in neighborhoods when you guys are planning on putting power poles straight thru a neighborhood without any notice, putting big obstructions in spots that could cause collusion, tree+electricity=no no,taking lighting away from stop sign/street signs for quick check from privately owned companies reconsider the placement and equidistant for these poles off of mulberry/spence before it becomes a bigger issue then it needs to be, only in low income neighborhoods do they continue to do this and get away with it read more

The tech that came out DID NOT turn back ON my solar system (which he apparently had to physically turn the knob, per my solar company rep I spoke to when PNM told me to call them because "it was their fault" ), and my December bill is $322!! Over 3x more than I have EVER paid in the entirety of my homeownership. I have spent the last 48 hours trying to get someone to take accountability. The rep I just spoke with told me that after speaking to her back office, NO credit will be issued, because I can't "PROVE" their technician shut it off and they are not willing to issue a credit, even though last years bill was $68..... and that SHE was going to go above and beyond to get me the installation fees for the digital meters refunded (that I was explained were free) a sum of a whopping $15, credited back to me, but only if her managers agreed?!?!...... I mean, the technician turned the solar system off (then claimed that was something they don't do during a meter swap) yet that is the exact date my panels stopped producing. .......Seems like someone is going the extra mile to screw people over and take more money! Talk about not having money for the holidays because NO ACCOUNTABILITY is taken on the corporation's side. I am a disabled Vet. PNM turned off my power because of an error of theirs, and caused over $1000 worth of medication and food to go bad. They had the power off for over 48 hours in August in New Mexico. The temperature almost every day has been over 100 degrees, and they took 2 days to fix an error that they made. I am appalled at the rude, and inconsiderate actions of every employee I've talked to. read more

The lights have always been on didnt think twice about it wecwere told to transfer to our names once we move in so move in day comes goes on the 16th pnm was checking meters my bf says "sh%#"" we didnt call let me go talk to this guy and see the fastest way to do it " then the power turns off and he cones back and it was on illegally (how ever thats done i dont get it but anyways) appearently over the past year or so it been on illegally a few times but simple solution call in the am and start service and it will be fine cool sigh of relief that sounds painless we call that afternoon and are told to email our lease and then calll well we sendbit to the given email adress around 7am .might i mention at about this time we watch a big pnm truck with a latter come and watch a guy climb up the pole infront of our house and disconnect our line from the pole ok a bit extrieme but ok back to the sent email about 11am....nothing .....call nope dont have it....so it gets sent 3 more times.....crickets. so we call oh! Wrong email heres the correct one.....crickets we finall call again at almost 5 and justvask the first perdon to answer whst the email address is to send your leases......3rd person 3rd email.... Wow we get a confirmation almost immediately that it was recievec (really they dont know the correct email). Also at this point we have already paid a deposit as well we are informed that it is high priority and if they had gotten it earlier someone would of been out that day but it was too late.....(grrrrrrrr) so someone would be out first thing in the morning. We go stay at my mom's for the night my father in law was at the house at 5 am to wait we got there at about 9 he told us the girl came and said the box had been tampered with so we couldn't get it turned on .....well ya we know it had been tampered with no they are saying that it was newly tampered with we tired to explain the situation with the squatters and that we weren't even home no one would even hear us out why would we try to steal electricity when we just paid a deposit and it was getting turned on in a couple hours .....we weren't even there so now they say we need to get an Inspection and get some permits pulled so here I sit with my 2 year old in the middle of August with no power no air conditioning watching 800.00 $ worth of food go bad in my fridge. Because of what? Why are we being punished we had no control over any if it and no one would even let us explain the situation no time no caring just very rude and short treating us like we are criminals. No stars for PNM. They have been overbilling us for months, using budget billing as an excuse. Anyone who sees this review, check your statements and your usage. Who knows how much this company is making because people aren't checking their statements. We have called every month to try to get this corrected, and every month, it's the same story - you'll see the correct amount on the next statement. They know that there's nothing we can do to choose a different service, but maybe enough people with the same issue, and a good attorney would open their eyes! read more

Been without power for over 40 hours, can't get through their customer service number. The most frustrating thing is their text updates keep on pushing back the timeline on when I'll get power back. I would text #out to the number and get a time. The time would pass and I would do that again. Gotten 6 different times and they failed 6 different times and counting. Power was suppose to come back at around 6 pm on Tuesday. It's Thursday and they're probably lying about the power coming back on this morning. A honest restore time would let me plan better. PNM customer service lives up to the low ratings they have. Motor Vehicle Department, Cable, Phone, Gas Company, and any service you need to call, makes PNM look very bad. This is a monopoly, so I doubt they care. They rarely read the meter, but state they do. Meter reader is the same class as the ones that answer the phone. Very poor. If they actually hired qualified employees, someone else would want to hire them. PNM keeps the worse. read more

Sold my late wife's home in the city of Santa Fe so I have been dealing with the transfer and cancellation of utilities. Water was transferred as part of closing. The title company sent them a check that was too much so the water people are mailing a refund - in 30 days.. Gas and electric were a bit more complicated because I have accounts for my own home where my wife and I lived. I usually pay those on line from my bank account. Couldn't do that because neither had a way to distinguish the two accounts. Gas worked fine over the phone. I paid the final bill with my credit card, The guy at PNM told me that they do not have a way to accept credit cards. I welcomed him to the 21st century. It wasn't too much effort to write and mail a check. I vaguely remembered how to do that. It only took me 20 minutes to find a stamp and another 20 to walk the round trip to my mailbox. The PNM guy seemed a little too proud of this shortcoming and a little too condescending that I didn't already know they didn't accept cards. When I see the words "customer convenience," in PNM ads, I'll know that it doesn't refer to the process of paying their bills. I think I'll switch o another electric company. I have been paying online since November of last year. Now all of a sudden they call and tell me that my payment was returned for none sufficient funds. I wrote them and sent copies of my bank statements showing them that my payments were never returned. I still have to pay return fees. The people at my bank can't understand why PNM is doing this. They have not responded to my letter. It's been a month since they received it. I have to make payments at Wal-Mart because when you have two NSF's you have to wait a year before you're able to pay online. They sure stick it to you don't they.??? read more

We were valued cuatomers and paid our bill on time every month for 6+ years. Then we moved and a finaly bill was sent but in our move it got over looked. So what did PNM do......ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for a good outstanding customer. Was PNM mad because we stopped our service? Who knows? The point is PNM had our contact information and phone number. How hard was it to pick up the phone and remind a loyal customer that their bill was over due. Apparently it is very difficult. Really incredible how bad their customer service is. My bank declined an automated payment, so I called to pay by phone (after Kubra 'EZ Pay' encountered an unexpected error. If you can at all avoid dealing with PNM, I strongly, strongly encourage you to do it. PNM only deals with its customers by phone, despite having an office in downtown Albuquerque, and good luck getting a chance to ever talk to someone on the phone who can do anything about whatever problem you might have. $3.03?! Are you kidding me? I've been avoiding making the switch to renewables because I expected this huge increase on my electric bill, but $3.03? I wish I would have investigated this sooner. PNMs Sky Blue program allows you to select up to 90% of your total consumption to be sourced from renewable resources such as solar, wind, or biomass. It costs 1.7 cents per kWh. My average bill is about 80 smackeroos and for only 10 cents a day I can offset 90% of my negative karma with clean renewables. Go to your PNM account online and there's a link that can tell you your cost. If you are into renewables check out what they are doing with smart grids and in Mesa del Sol with their state of the art solar system with battery back-up. Lots of cool stuff. They also frack and burn coal so don't lets get all cozy just yet. But at least this is a good start. read more

PNM decided to turn off the power to my rental home without notifying me on one of the coldest days and nights of the year (17 degrees). Then when I call and ask to have it turned back on, they say it will be the next day. So, not my home is at risk of freezing tonight and all they say is, "not there problem". Worst customer service. My husband took over the bills and thought it was set up for auto pay. Apparently 3pm is their cutoff time for turning back on same day. We called and payed at 3:15. I called them and explained that my mother just got out of the hospital after having part of her kidney removed because of cancer. She also had to have an aneurysm repaired. She is now on oxygen because we can't keep her levels up. I asked if there was anyway they could get it done tonight and they said no. I offered to pay extra and still NO. This is the first time we have ever been late on a payment. I cannot believe there is not some type of protocol for situations like this. Talk about a HEARTLESS company. Less than half a star. They cut off power to my house because wind damage caused a dangerous situation. Within 18 hours, the electrician fixed the problem, and the City inspected and approved the work. We were told a crew would be there by the end of the day (Friday) to reconnect our power. It didn't happen. There is no customer service on Saturday, so we had to call the emergency line. We were told that there's only one crew working on Saturday and since we weren't part of a larger outage, we weren't considered an emergency! We called a second time on Saturday, and Bobby finally got a crew over to do our fifteen minute job. We were without power for 47 hours! read more

PNM cut my power on July 10th because they got a call saying that there were power issues. The house which has had the same pole since 1994, was never cut. The call comes from the previous owner of the house that I purchased it from because we're in on going legal battle. Without giving me a heads up, PNM comes to my house and cuts the lines. The only reason I found out, is because I pulled up to my house as they were finishing cutting the power. They told me I needed to get a new pole, and have it inspected to get power returned. Mind you, were in a pandemic, this happened on a Friday around noon. Today Monday, July 13, I had a new pole installed (roughly $2k) but I still can't get power because I have to wait for permits to be submitted and for the inspectors to come look at the pole. The electrician stated it could take up to 2 weeks. So from July 10 until roughly the end of the month I'm not going to have any power. Oh I have a 4 year old daughter, I am from Phoenix, AZ and have no family here. I can't afford to stay in a hotel for 2+ weeks and still pay for the rest of the work needed for electrical. All PNM could say is it's a good thing it happened because it was dangerous. Well we're now hitting 100+ degree temps and I have no electricity for my daughter which I think is even more dangerous. I called 4 times in one week about the lines arching. The electrical power lines are sparking causing power surges to all my neighbors. Sparks are visible and loud. This can cause a fire.
