Three strikes...you are out. Earlier this year, TLC came out to reinstall 3 sinks after countertop installations in my kitchen and two baths. They quoted me approximately $165/hr for labor on the phone. On the day of the work, two men showed up and said that since there were two of them it would now be $100 more per hour than originally quoted. The good news, they said, was that they would be done twice as fast. It ended up taking them over 4 hours to complete the work, with one man just standing around watching the other. Naturally, I was outraged with both the last minute change, the amount of time the job took, and the bill of $1200. To their credit, TLC did refund $300+. Around the same time, I had TLC come out to replace an electrical outlet in my kitchen. While looking in the electrical box, Robert told me that my box was out of code. My breakers were 25 years old and they should be replaced every 25 years. Foolishly, worrying about safety and fire potential, I agreed to have TLC update and upgrade my box to the tune of $4500. I did this without first doing my own due diligence. After the work was done, Robert and the electrician who actually performed the job apologized to me because they saw a broken panel in the box. I was told this after the work was already completed without the panel being replaced. To fix that problem, it would require a lot of additional work to satisfy code requirements. The additional work was originally quoted at $9000, but eventually Robert came down to $7000. Feeling that I had been misled by TLC, I asked Robert a couple of times for a written estimate that included the reason for and the scope of the additional work. Since, I had already paid $4500 + tax for a job that apparently now did not satisfy code requirements, I wanted to understand what and exactly where the damaged panel was located. It was not readily apparent to the naked eye. I was not about to authorize any more work without fully researching and understanding its necessity, and without consulting professional sources as to its veracity. What I eventually received from Robert was a text message with a brief description of work and an estimated price, however, it provided none of the detail I asked for. When I pressed for more information, I heard nothing more from Robert. Feeling compelled to pursue this matter, and knowing that my knowledge is extremely limited when it comes to electrical matters, I employed the assistance of a relative who has been a highly respected custom home builder in Santa Fe for almost 50 years. After inspecting my electrical box and the limited information provided by Robert, he was unable to find anything out of place that required attention. To substantiate that, he sent one of his trusted electricians out to completely survey the situation, and I was told the exact same thing by this electrical professional. In fact, I was also told that I never needed to do the original upgrade to replace the breakers because my electrical box was never out of code in the first place. Finally, in early August (2026), I needed to have an outdoor electrical outlet upgraded. TLC sent two electricians out to dig a trench and run a conduit from an existing working outlet to the outlet in question. They informed me that the possibility of injuring an irrigation line existed, but they would inform me if that happened. One week after the work was completed, I noticed that the area where the work was done was very wet. They had broken an irrigation line and never told me. I had to hire an irrigation specialist to come out to replace the line. A call to the company regarding this matter has gone unaddressed. Truth be told, I would never have used TLC for this job if I had known what I know now about my electrical upgrade. I have made many mistakes by reusing and trusting the integrity and honesty of TLC. $4500 was a big price to pay to learn that you cannot always trust the professionals. I refused to pay that much and told him to call his manager. It took three phone calls to get the price down to a reasonable amount. This saved me over $150.00. December 26, 2025 Today, Lawrence Sanchez Replaced our water heater. He called ahead of time to let me know that he was on his way. He showed up and completely replaced the water heater within two hours. Very friendly and professional. The only thing we need to do is wait for the city to come by and do the inspection. I had called another plumbing company first but TLC Again , was quickly available to take care of us. My neighbor also uses TLC and is very pleased with the prompt service And quality products. I know nothing about replacing a water heater and was surprised that it was only him and no other help. He does only water heaters, so he is a professional at it. Chris and his buddy quickly changed out the capacitor and were both friendly and professional. I was just happy to have AC again. I tipped them both $20 for a job that only took about 10 minutes, but it was well worth it. The markup price for the capacitor is high. That is the only negative thing about this visit. read more

The heater problem was minor and just needed a new internal electrical igniter. In just a short time, it was fixed and working again. The guy who came who did the service was friendly and knowledgeable, and didn't mind all my questions as he was working. No customer service whatsoever. Talked to me like an idiot when I asked questions. We were talking and my 15 pound dog was touching his leg and he knee'd it away. I would never let him in my house again. He recommended a replacement circuit board. When we received his estimate it had no labor, parts etc. and he flat refused to provide any of that. I called TLC directly and they refused as well. Imagine getting your car repaired and they won't tell you anything about it but the price. Total bullsh*t. We went with someone else and it was just the motor which should have been an easy diagnosis. So not only did they want to charge us $1200 for "something" it would not have even fixed the problem. After I wrote my review, TLC had a couple of employees follow up with me. The first guy was supper aggressive and insulting. I told him I had to hang up on him. The next person was a woman. Very nice. They must use her to clean up after the first guy. She sent someone to the house to see if we could do something. The "fixer" looked at the work and basically said there is nothing TLC can do about their work. He assured me that the salesman Riley is very good at what he does but has never installed a water softener and is incorrect on where they can go. I was assured that plumbers do not know where the pipes are and TLC has about a 10%-20% chance of finding the pipes to the house. Takeaway: So, even though the plumbing company said they can install a water softener box in a location and at a tremendus investment, they really can't and I have to live with it. I assured him I will be calling MicroPure, Inc. (who I should have hired instead of TLC) to see if they can fix it. The Fixer asked me to call him / TLC before hiring MicroPure. read more

A guy from TLC came out Saturday and diagnosed needing new blower motor for my Carrier system. Then said he would call carrier supply to see if they have one and then possibly come back to install that day or maybe Monday. So I thought that was weird so I called the TLC and the girl said he had put in his notes that he would be by Monday afternoon to install. So really he already knew the plan for installation. Sunday night I get a text overnight that he will email me a quote then order the motor and then be by Wednesday or Thursday to install. Is this normal? I've used TLC for switching my swamp cooler over twice a year, and they've been fine. However, I just called them out because the swamp cooler was leaking, payed 170 bucks, and now it's leaking again, causing water damage to my roof. When I called about having them come out, the woman was passive aggressive. I told her I work during the week, and she said I had to compromise somehow. When I said I'd be there between 3 and 5, she responded with, "we don't pick the specific times. Maybe you missed that part." Then, when I complained and asked for another person, she hung up on me. Terrible company! Such a ripoff. I have always changed my filter on my water softener for 6 years. Now the canister will not come off. I called last time and they told me I would have to pay $225 to have someone come and change the filter for me. That is ridiculous! But I couldn't get it off and no amount of calling for suggestions was of any help. They were not there to help, only to charge me $$$ to help me loosen the filter cartridge. Then their water softener guy came and said it WAS hard to remove. My manual shows a nice METAL valve system. Mine is cheap China plastic button. It is NOT releasing the pressure. If you are looking for very high prices and shoddy workmanship this is the company for you. They installed new water heater and did a very slipshod job. The inlet water pipe is leaking at the heater, they installed a safety strap around the heater and screwed it into drywall with no anchors so the screws have pulled out, they gouged a hole in the drywall so a drain would fit, and all they would have had to do is turn the heater a little to clear the wall. They installed a water heater before this one and it started leaking around the bottom seam. Under warranty but still charged me a huge fee to install the warranty replacement. Never use them or recommend them again. read more

I need to have my swamp cooler started up and once had a good experience with TCL so I called them. I bought new pads and he showed up on time. did the work and after suggesting I might want to replace tubing with copper, I said I'd like to see if what was already there would work. it did not appear to be leaking when he left. However the next morning the supply line had leaked a lot in my laundry room, even managing to get inside seal plastic crates and foul dog food. I called TLC and he suggested he install copper tubing for additional $250. I deferred as I'd had it before and it split within 6 months. I called my brother who was able to come the next Friday morning. He said the fitting wasn't tightened and likely pan on roof not filled completely before TLC left. Brother Paul said they often try and upsell customers that do not need and make more money for themselves. So despite a previous postive experience I will no longer use TLC. read more

TLC Plumbing performed work on my property that was not only substandard but fundamentally dangerous. Specifically, they installed a sewer pipe into my main culinary water line, creating a severe health hazard and cross-contamination of my home's drinking water. Property Damage & Negligence: * Illegal Installation: After hiring an independent, licensed plumbing company to inspect the work, it was confirmed that TLC's installation was illegal and violated state building and health codes. * Structural Damage: The company caused unnecessary destruction to my backyard and my home's foundation by digging excessive and unnecessary holes. * Abandoned Equipment: During their attempt to clear a line, they broke a professional snake cable inside the pipe and abandoned it there, leaving the system non-functional and open without informing me or resolving the issue. This company is scamming. They gave us a quote of nearly $6000 to replace the pump on our septic system, thinking we had no choice but to go with them. We found another septic maintenance company which was great, who did it for less than $2000. TLC had a song and dance about compliance w OSHA requiring them to have a three person crew and some getup w harnesses and tripods, charging $140/hr for each person. I looked up OSHA requirements for septic systems and found nothing like that. We were also charged the $140/hr for three people just to diagnose our system. It takes three people to do that? Plus a crew member was rude and basically also full of it trying to convince us that the $6000 estimate was justified. A couple months ago, we called in TLC to do some plumbing work for us, which had been in need of getting done for a while. We needed a fixture in our front bathroom shower fixed and the faucet in that bathroom fixed. Both were done well; great work, TLC! However, we also needed the kitchen faucet replaced. We had purchased a new faucet and they replaced the old one with the new one we'd purchased. However, they reversed the plumbing of the hot water and cold-water pipes to the kitchen faucet. The kitchen faucet is one of those single handle faucets. Now, whenever you turn the faucet all the way to the right, as you'd expect to get cold water, it comes out hot. Likewise, turning the faucet all the way to the left, to get hot water, results in cold water instead. It is frustrating to have the kitchen faucet reversed. TLC got two jobs out of three correct. But my advice to you is, if you call in TLC to do a job, double check their work before they leave your home. read more

TLC technicians looked around for things to repair that we had not called them for and tried to pitch these additional costs to us - we fell for 2 of these pitches. They also overpriced every single part need for a repair job and added additional, unreasonable costs. Example 1: A WEBSTONE EXPANSION TANK stand was charged $503.00 while the exact same part is listed $128 online, nearly 4 TIMES the retail price! Example 2: A 15 AMP MECHANICAL TIMER W/2 GROUNDED OUTLETS costed us $69.32 while the same part is listed $9.99 on Amazon, 7 TIMES the retail price of the item! Example 3: TLC charged us a "LEAK SEARCH DIAGNOSIS" of $214.25 for the small leak in the attic, EVEN THOUGH having found it myself earlier, I lead the TLC technicians directly to the leak! Adding to that, no detailed bill was sent to us. We called to request one, and when we finally got that bill, we saw how badly they had taken advantage of us... We called TLC to complain but they were inflexible on the price. We discussed and showed this bill with another plumbing company and they could not believe how much we got ripped off. BUT there is a silver lining, because there are places like YELP that brings a bit of justice and expose companies like TLC... Bad karma and greed come at a price and swing both ways! We are renters and our landlord lives in Europe. Furnace went down and landlord said she was good with us calling to get it fixed. We called TLC to have them come look at the furnace and TLC stated they needed the landlord to call, which has never been said to us by any other repair place on any other issue. ***** A perfect example of how to run a service business! We had a water emergency at 11pm on a Friday night this week. A water line which feeds a toilet fill tank burst, and the wall "shutoff valve" failed to stop incoming water at the wall, because the valve was stripped. I called Academy Plumbing's emergency 24 hour phone number which was forwarded to a tech (a joke) who dumped me to voice mail 5x in a row, without picking up. Then Whitehorse Plumbing's 24 hour emergency line just rang over-and-over with nobody picking up their "24 hour service" line. Careless and inexcusable, in my opinion - not an indicator of a quality company. Then I called TLC. First ring was answered by the answering service. They indicated I'd get a call from Stevie in dispatch. This call came five minutes later when Stevie clarified the problem, and told me she'd have someone there in 20 mins or less. She explained the pricing / fees and I booked the service. Two techs arrived (Joe Goris, Mr Judocus) in separate trucks about 18 mins later; both techs were professional, polite and did the work to contain the water and replace the interior float parts, the braided water line and faulty water shut off valve at the wall. I cannot say enough good things about this company. Professional, efficient, and a "customer centric" attitude of "we are here to fix your problem." Impressive. I was very happy TLC that night, and I wasn't concerned about the invoice. When they finished, Joe handed me the bill, and said "we know you both just moved in, so we wanted to give you a break on the bill." Welcome to Albuquerque and we hope we see you again. In my mind - that's how you build customer loyalty. Every single employee represents your company every single day. In our experience - every point-of-contact with TLC felt like we were valued and appreciated as a customer. I'd be proud to own this operation. A 24 hour coverage system in place with processes and procedures, a responsible and professional crew, plus a staff who take ownership of the daily business operation. Like a small time plumber might - who cares about a long term relationship with a new customer. A business you can count on when you need them ... unlike the other plumbing outfits who advertise 24 hour service - but don't deliver on their promise. Five years later I am having issues with my cracked sewer line again and now my wood laminate floors are ruined from flooding. I have called to speak with the drain tech manager and have not even been given a call back yet. I would not be in this situation if they had given me a proper inspection of the sewer lines and now I'm stuck with this house. When they reviewed their notes on my account and invoice, nobody even mentioned in the notes that they had made such a huge mistake and that they promised to help me out with issues in the future because of it. They completely left out on my invoices that it was their mistake and "charged" me for all the work but then "reimbursed" it. (I was never charged because they knew they had messed up big time.) Nowhere in the invoices did they take responsibility for what they did. Update: Thankful that I got a callback today from the drain manager asking to scope the line and possibly helping me out. This company sells the most expensive water softener. I was told I needed a commercial unit for my home because my well water is so hard. $11 thousand dollars was the price tag but honestly the Kinetico softener is bravado-may even be a scam. It takes tons of salt and tons of water to flush it which dump half of the salt with way too much wasted water for one resident in a drought, straight into your backyard. The anmount of water was so extreme they came annd put a tank in the ground because it was flooding my foundation. And I still have serious hard water spot's on all my faucets. Frankly I'm worried about my brand new dishwasher, washing machine and new hot water tanks with this level of hard white build up on the fixtures. I asked the manager to remove it and give me my money back. If he doesn't respond soon I'm going to the attorney generals office. I sent them photos of my faucets- so far no response. read more
