PLEASE READ IF CONSIDERING DREAMCATCHER MEADOWS FOR YOUR WEDDING…read more I'd like to start this review by saying that the venue itself is absolutely gorgeous and deserves 5 stars. However, this review is about the service provider who we had a lot of difficulty with after the wedding (and potentially before if our wedding planner hadn't taken over communication on our behalf). The day after our wedding, Jill sent my MIL (who had offered to cover the cost of extra rentals) an invoice for $3,166. In her email, she told my MIL that it was very generous of her to cover "the outstanding invoice and last-minute rentals". Just to clarify, there was no outstanding amount left for the venue rental fee (we paid it in full BEFORE the wedding) and the "last minute rentals" were all items we'd discussed 2 weeks before the event. I emailed Jill with some questions. Just to be clear, I never said to Jill that we didn't want to pay (on the contrary, she'd already charged my MIL's card without giving us a chance to review the invoice so not paying was out of the question). We simply wanted clarification on the items listed in the invoice. Unfortunately, all we got in return was a long emotional diatribe about how happy everyone was, how many last minute requests they accommodated and how we left decisions until the day of which caused unnecessary panic (still don't know who was panicking and why since we'd discussed everything ahead of time). None of the above items were addressed in her email except for one. Not only that, there were accusations in the email against us which were blatant lies (we have documentation to prove everything). Among them: - Jill was unable to take a damage deposit as she apparently didn't have a credit card on file. That's not true since the contract had a specific section that clearly stated the credit card information being provided was for a damage deposit (which we completed and sent back to her). If she didn't this information, why didn't she simply tell us instead of bringing it up on the day of the wedding? - We were accused (several times) of not sending her a list of rentals 7 days before the wedding. However, our wedding planner sent us a copy of the email she sent Jill 14 days before the wedding which clearly stated which rentals we required. The final straw was when she called my MIL and told her she no longer wanted to communicate with me and my husband. We, the clients, who signed the contract and paid $6,000 to use the venue are no longer welcome to contact her and try to get clarification on the items my MIL paid for. In addition to all of this, please be aware that we often felt like Jill's main objective was to promote her business. - She asked my MIL if we would put HER business's logo on OUR wedding favors - what kind of vendor asks a couple to put their logo on wedding favors?! We're not there to provide free advertising! - Jill also pushed us to write a review before the wedding. Again, who expects a review before goods/services are actually provided?! - After all this mess, she still had the audacity to tell us she would be majorly disappointed if we're not willing to share our pictures with her. She even asked our videographer for pictures! Just because we used her venue for our wedding, doesn't mean she owns the wedding now...we're not obliged to provide her with any pictures or videos nor was it stated in the contract. She shouldn't be reaching out to our other vendors to acquire goods that she has no right to. In a nutshell, the venue is gorgeous. John is very easy-going, helpful and a pleasure to work with. However, beware before signing a contract that communication with Jill will tough. We spent our honeymoon dealing with Jill and the invoice she sent my MIL all because we asked a few questions (which remain unanswered) If you decide to have your wedding here, please make sure you write every single thing down. Don't let Jill push you into writing a review BEFORE your wedding and don't feel obliged to let her take pictures. It's YOUR wedding. YOU decide who takes pictures and YOU decide what you want to share. The rooms were what you would expect for a place that was trying to have enough beds for lots of guest. Great patio/deck area!!! Loved the hot tub and that they had a grill! Only complaint was that all of us that read the description had no idea that we didn't get the whole house. There is someone staying below and then someone staying next to it. But even with not getting the whole place we still had plenty of room. Lots of linens and towels! And everything was clean and ready for use. They left us a personalized note and book of Instructions and recommendations. Overall I would stay here again.

Positive attitude about taking time away from family vacation to take photos? Check. Clean and pressed clothes? Check. Fantastic local photographer to conduct the shoot? Check! It's become a bit of a tradition to take family photos when on a vacation to a unique and luxurious location. Heading up to Whistler, I figured it was time once again to capture the family for posterity. It had been two years since our last family photos and while three of us looked more or less the same, The Boy had grown about 15 inches. Funny how that happens. I started my search for a photographer on Yelp (of course) and contacted a photographer who got back to me quickly saying that she was unavailable, but recommending that I get in touch with Darby Magill. Perfect--a personal referral and one from a peer--how could I go wrong? I emailed Darby and she got back to me right away. Over the course a few emails we discussed settings, pricing and other logistics. Darby suggested we meet in Rebagliati Park just a short walk from Whistler Village. From there we could wander and look for interesting settings. That sounded like the perfect plan. We're a causal group and liked the idea of capturing different settings during the hour-long shoot. In her final email Darby wrote "I'm short with a big black bag :)" and sure enough, when we arrived at the park, Darby was easy to pick out from among the tourists. Just as I suspected, the down to earth vibe that I felt in Darby's emails was immediately apparent in person. Safe to say that we all liked and felt comfortable with her from the beginning. Over the next hour Darby snapped shots of us in numerous settings--underneath the large natural growth trees, next to the river, along a walking path and, perhaps my favorite, under a bridge that was painted with fantastic urban art. I appreciated the different poses and angles that Darby explored and the particular attention she paid to the dance of the light that poured through the trees. I honestly have no idea how many pictures Darby took, but the portfolio she uploaded had over unique 60 photos, each presented in color and greyscale. Throughout our hour together we visited with Darby, enjoying learning more about her and her business. The photos themselves are terrific (with perhaps the exception of a certain teenage boy who decided he had something against smiling--so much for that positive attitude check box above.) Still, vibrant imaginative, lovely and fun. Darby provided all of them on an easy to access password protected website so we could review and share and print. A great keepsake from a great vacation and a time capsule of who we all were that summer of 2014.

We recently took a family vacation in Whistler, B.C. over New Years and there was a display in our…read morehotel for Photography Whistler advertising family/event photos which could be scheduled during your visit. The display photos were beautiful and were taken in breathtaking venues so we called. Jeff Boyce (owner) was very accommodating with our schedule and we had our family photos taken that week. When it began to drizzle at the beginning of our appointment, we all thought he would cancel but he assured us that the pictures would be fine and we wouldn't even notice the rain- or if it did show in the pictures, the lighting would make it look like snow. Although we were doubtful, he was absolutely correct! Jeff was patient and allowed multiple "family combinations". The areas he chose for our pictures were absolutely beautiful and we all have said that his pictures were some of the best we have ever taken - friends and family agree. Jeff was extremely reasonably priced, took amazing, creative shots and delivered the finished product on time and as promised. I would highly recommend that anyone vacationing in Whistler book a session with him. And if you are lucky enough to live in the area, book him for any event you have!

We stayed in a Private family room that had a double bed on the bottom level then there were stairs leading up to the next level with two single beds. Shared Bathrooms were down the hall and were clean. One of the best things at this Hostel is that there is a huge kitchen that has every utensil/spice/whatever you could need in a kitchen and also has a comfy lounge area. It seems to mainly be used by the ski club and then renting the rest of the rooms out. The only problem with this place is that it closes in the middle of the day so if you arrive too early then you cannot access the accommodations and are forced to leave your luggage in a storage area, there also seems to be some fairly strict rules. Overall it is one of the most affordable options in Whistler and one of the closest to the Village so its definitely worth staying here if you don't need a party atmosphere.
