I absolutely love this place! I've tried almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. It's been around for over 30 years, and it's easy to see why-everything is made to order with fresh, delicious ingredients. The menu offers so many authentic dishes that it's hard to choose just one favorite. The agua frescas are amazing, and their chips and salsa are hands down my favorite. The service is just as great as the food--Jess is always fun and friendly to chat with, and the owner, Gloria, is wonderful and truly takes care of her customers. The vibe is super chill with good music always playing, and they even have a fun karaoke night on weekends from 8pm until close. Parking is easy too--if the lot is full, there's extra parking next door by Wienerschnitzel. Whether you're dining in, picking up, or ordering takeout, you really can't go wrong here. Pocos Mexican Restaurant has recently become my go to spot for delicious Pozole. The service is friendly, the food is delicious and its a great spot to come with family and friends. My mom was looking for a authentic Mexican restaurant that made cocido soup, and we searched on Yelp and found Poco's. It's a very popular place and well known in the community with a lot of patrons coming. The food was quite delicious and reasonable with very good quality. I ordered the guacamole, and fish ceviche and it was to my liking. The fish was very fresh and seasoned well. Also, the salsa and chips are good you just may want to add a tiny bit of salt but it still was solid and chunky just how I like it. The guacamole was also good without the tomatoes and chunky like I like it! My mom definitely recommends the cocido soup with the half beans and rice as the side. She said her food was very tasty and the beans were soft and good for her taste buds. The ambience is not modern or updated, but it's decent. The service was ok the waitress only spoke Spanish, but her other colleagues helped her out to understand the order. Later on more workers came that did know English so it made the experience better. Overall, they were all pleasant. I will be back to try more food for sure! They have a menu with so much! No complaints with the food either. They have a parking lot where you can park. read more

I've dined in a couple times at Poco's Mexican Restaurant and there is so much good to be found here, that surely out weights the bad aspects. Service is always attentive and nice. There is karaoke on Thursday to Sunday nights. Free chips, beans and salsa when you dine in and order takeout. Free parking lot too. So much good about this place, right? Dining area needs a bit of TLC (mainly dusting off) and the general restaurant location may seem a bit sketchy to you, if you aren't open minded or accustomed to the San Fernando Valley. Pozole : 10/10 It had a very authentic flavor. The color was perfect. That perfect red looking color. If it lacks in color to me it tends to also lack in flavor, but not here! The tostadas that came with it were soooo good. Would definitely get this again. Great size too. Michelada: 7/10 It was a good michi. Wish it was a bit colder, but it was decent. Chips and salsa: 3/5 hmmm still not sure about this. It was good but it wasn't super good. Godorniz al gusto: 10/10 Bird was perfectly cooked. Little crispy skin and the sides that came with it were delicious as well. Served with a good amount of grilled onions. I don't mind them, but I know there are some onion haters out there. Poco was my choice as Casa de Papi was closed. This was my first and last time at Poco's and here's why... Mole is a favorite of mine... I've eaten my fare share of it for over 35 years... what they offer for Mole just isn't acceptable. Yes the overall taste was right, it just didn't have any viscosity, it was just watery and runny. If Oaxaca's moles is the original and the source, what Poco serves is the antithesis opposite. When you order Chicken Mole anywhere else in Southern California, you get a good if not a great portion of chicken. At Poco's there's barely any meat in my mole, and for what they charge, THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED! Just look at the "only photo" I posted. I got my wife the chicken fajitas. It was a larger portion of chicken, then what came in my Mole. The Mrs. informed me that it barely had any taste. They don't offer Black Beans, so rice and veggies was what I picked for the Mrs. Sadly the veggies also had no taste, the rice was good however. For one of the boys, a meat burrito, and I hope it's tasty. My concern is that it looks on the thinner side. Generally anywhere you go, it's a plump one handed, or a fatty that needs two hands. From what I can tell it just seems on the smallish side. If you conspired it to other establishments such as Casa de Papi, Mission Burrito, Tapatio, heck any food truck, it would have been plumper! Overall taste of what we ate, "meh" and if this place is a seafood speciality shop, what I asked for was a no-brainer! If you ask any restaurant"where their food influences comes from"... this place can't tell you... and from the food, neither can you. Bottom line, if "Casa de Papi" is closed, or the line is too long at Sol 'ye Luna, Poco is a place you just might want to skip. I grew up eating and loving Mexican Food, that Los Angeles is known for... there are places where you go drink at, places you go to be seen at and places you go eat at... Sadly this establishment isn't any of them. Extremely over priced , receipt didn't have prices I asked for a receipt and lady said " another order was summited and the receipt erased" there's always a duplicate. The receipt given was the same one where the waitress took the order, just the name of the food and that's it. There was no price to based the charge on. No way of telling what the prices are.
