Since my last review, Taco Reyes had to shut down because someone had crashed into their front window and rendered the place temporarily destroyed. They immediately rebuilt in the same location, but it was only now that we were able to return. I see many differing reviews, mostly 3-4 stars, but I have to say, we LOVE this place. I don't know if their having to rebuild had anything to do with improving what was already great food, but this visit, the food was better than ever. We usually find their rice and beans to be a bit bland, but we never cared because we were too busy filling up on the tacos, chips, salsa and guac... but THIS time... I completely polished off the rice and beans. They really added a lot of flavor to both items. The rice was really flavorful, and the beans really had a nice punch of flavor, too... more than in the past. As for the shrimp tacos, I always get the same delicious, stuffed with loads of shrimp tacos served on freshly made corn tortillas. I avoid their hot sauce cuz it's way too hot, and I nix the cilantro cuz I just don't like it. I still get the chopped onions but ask that they only give me a small amount (they usually put on as much onion as there is shrimp, and that's just too much for me. I do, however, add lots of guac and the milder salsa (the chips salsa), and my tacos are then perfection. The 3 tacos, coupled with the rice and beans, we loved every bite of food we had. I'm so glad that freak accident of someone crashing through their window didn't ruin their business forever. It was a pleasure finding them back in business, better than ever. Now if we could just find our way to getting here more frequently, that'd be ideal !! read more

As much as I love Taco Reyes, I can't love them anymore. Before their "remodeling". Their carne asada nachos was $13. Went the other day, the nachos are now $20. They are still very tasty, but it's taking a big bite out of my pocketbook. I know everything is expensive now and I am taking it into consideration. I'll move Taco Reyes to the bottom of my list and maybe in a couple months I'll go back and Hopefully the price will be better. read more

honestly this place has great food and but terrible customer service. tell me how ordering 12 tacos = 1 small bag of chips that at most has 15 tortilla chips. They state it's their policy but if I ordered each item separately I would then have 4 bags of chips that makes absolutely no sense. But if you eat in person you can also have more chips? There are a lot of great taco spots in this part of the valley, so you know if you're going to give one five stars it has to be something special... Taco Reyes is for sure deserving of each one of these stars. At the end of a strip mall, bookended by a gas station and a bar, this place shines as bright as the food it serves. You want tacos? They have tacos... chorizo, cabeza, pollo, pastor, asada, pescado, camaron, carnitas, and chicharron... there's even a combo where you can pick any 3 served with rice and beans. Tacos include onion, cilantro, and salsa and the balance is exquisite... these are the best tacos in the area, and that is really saying something. Even though this is Tacos Reyes, they don't shy away from other great Mexican food... they have burritos, nachos, quesabirria tacos, gorditas, huarache, quesadillas, pambaso, sopes, mulitas... it's really amazing how much they have on the menu for such a small place! And everything I've tried here has been wonderful... and I have yet to try it but my buds all swear by their birria! To drink they have Mexican soft drinks, horchata, and jamaica. And if you're looking for an adult beverage, they deliver to the bar next door, so put in your order at Taco Reyes, ask them to deliver it next door, and pull up a barstool and order a cerveza! This place came with a great recommendation from a friend. The carne asada burrito I ordered, while filling, came with a side of mild allergic reaction for me as I now have minor little rash bumps on my forehead that weren't present prior to eating it. I also found the food too salty for my liking. Maybe I ordered the wrong item for me, and will have to try a different thing next time. Some of the positives here are the lady working the register threw in an extra bag of chips with my order (so kind), and that there's ample parking in the back, on the Topanga side near Baskin-Robbin's. And now for your frugal auntie tip: if you want to order for pickup, call them directly and place your order instead of ordering online. This is one of my go-to taco spots and I find myself coming here more often than I probably should since it's down the street. The staff is always very kind and quick, which I appreciate. The place is cute and has a bright atmosphere, thanks to the colors and lights. It's on the smaller side, but there are lots of self-seating options to choose from. The tea (lol): disgruntled former employee smashed their car into the shop's glass store front. Currently, the restaurant's store front is under construction. Although, the restaurant is still open (see my pic) serving up the best Mexican food in the San Fernando Valley from their back parking lot (enter parking lot from Topanga Cyn). Everything is amazing here. Love the Queso Birra tacos, chicken and carne asada tacos, carnitas gordita are some of my favorites. Service is always good, direct and efficient. I have been going here for years and so has my mother. Tonight will be the last the prices keeps going up and less food for the price I just paid $23 plus dollars for nachos and 2 tacos on taco Tuesday. My mom asked to have the chili relleno sauce on her burrito and the lady asked the chef and said no no no with an attitude. What happened to the customer gets what they paid for and or asked to be made a certain way. They used to have a guy Sebastian that worked there and when he was there everything was great. That said, I can confidently say: the meat and marinade at this restaurant are next level. Absolutely incredible. This is, without a doubt, the best Mexican cuisine I've ever tasted. The flavors are simple, but bold and perfectly balanced. You can tell a lot of care and skill went into every bite. It's not flashy--it's just really, really well done. I went there after hearing about this place from a friend. The staff was nice and the place was clean. I got the carne asada burrito, my wife got tacos and a carne asada quesadilla for my kids. The burrito was pretty good and the red salsa was a nice spicy level. However, the tacos and quesadilla were okay, as the quesadilla was oily. Rotten meat more than once! The food truck isn't ok! This place is overpriced AF! one time I left my burrito in the refrigerator just for a couple of hours. I then took it out of the refrigerator and when I opened it I noticed a very light smell and I said no it's still good I mean I had got this burrito. Anyways nothing happened that time. But I did notice that it smelled a little off. I happen to be somebody that can like smell the milk go bad before everybody else. It didn't smell bad we're like you wouldn't eat it I just did stop and go hmm is this bad and then smelled it again and was like no I think it's still good. I shouldn't have done that. Anyways this happened to be my favorite Mexican food truck. And I ended up in the bathroom the entire next day with diarrhea. I just figured maybe I was stupid that day I don't know but like a month later and I got my burrito that I left to get again... And that same night although I didn't smell anything off I ended up getting diarrhea really bad and stomach pains for 2 or 3 days. First time trying this place after seeing many times on Yelp. They don't have crispy tacos so I opted for the taquitos. The rice and beans were good. The rice however has a slightly lime-ey taste to them. Not a bad thing just different . I ordered two chicken one beef, but three chicken came out instead I didn't bother to say anything because the chicken was really good. White meat , not dry !& tasty. Next time I think I will ask for the Crema on the side because it is just a dribble over the lettuce and you don't get to taste it because I don't eat the lettuce. The Horchata was pretty good. A little less milky than other places but great flavor. The hot sauce was yummy too. I would come back. read more
