The cruise narrator knew tons of intricate details about the history and places we passed, especially about Cumberland Island. He explained the history of the horses on the island: their origin, breeding and band habits. He gave lots of detail about the Carnegie's and the incredible mansions on the island. He also answered lots of questions from the cruise participants. He was engaging making jokes and quips throughout the cruise. Clearly he has not just done this many times, but has studied and visited the area's history.

We boarded at 6:15, and were promptly on our way at 6:30. It was a very fun guided tour that taught us a lot about the area's history. We didn't see the wild horses, but we did see dolphins!! Captain Bill is fun, experienced and knowledgeable about the waterways we traveled. We saw lots of wildlife, learned about boat safety and got to go really fast (my favorite part). They have day trips then some evenings (maybe just weekends) they have an adults only "rum-runner" cruise...BYOB. We took that one! The ship is a replica of the Flying Dutchman and they just started giving cruises and will stay here in Fern. Beach (not a visiting ship). They are working out the bumps of a new adventure.... like music needed to be louder, the pirate speaker on the history of area needed a Mike so he could be heard. The ship's suppose to have 18 cannons but they had one cannon. My husband said the seats weren't right....they were too short to sit on. The three pirates and captain were all very personable and I hope this endeavor becomes very successful.

It went from a hard downpour to bright sun and heat, and I was so happy that the tour wasn't canceled. We saw beautiful birds and lots of turtle heads amongst the lily pads, but no alligators. We learned that they're timid during the hunting season, so we were prepared to not see them, but I will definitely be back to experience more!
