Beware of this podiatry group. I had a knee injury and was told to see a podiatrist about my feet…read more I was very disappointed with the service I received. I was prescribed some custom orthotics worth over $900 which was fine but when I made a follow up appointment because my osteo was telling me the orthotics were unsuitable and throwing my hips out I was rudely kicked out of the practice and told I was unable to see anyone due to a payment processing error that was made by them. Even after this was rectified they did not follow up with me for 3 months by which stage I had stopped wearing the orthotics due to severe pain issues. The most disappointing part was I had them reviewed by two other podiatrists who blatantly told me that the design of these orthotics was unsuitable for my specific functionality and would most likely cause me more problems in the future. Very disappointing.

Sadly, instead of helping, I seriously injured my toes on both feet by having them take on the job of balancing. I suffered for over a year. In the States, I saw a podiatrist, who gave me injections and some temporary relief. My Bestie in Melbourne insisted that I see Paul Karak while I was staying with her. He treated me with dry needling and adding pads to all of my shoes. HE LITERALLY CHANGED MY LIFE. I walk without pain and when I returned to Seattle, I started to receive dry needling (Also known as Intra-Muscular Stimulation) for chronic shoulder pain. 15 months later: my feet remain completely healed. My daughter and husband are also receiving this therapy for their pain and we all have increased range of motion!

Having sustained a common, yet painful injury thanks to either (a) my elite sports training, or (b) wearing rubbish shoes*, I hobbled off to meet the lovely Emily. Emily put me at ease right away and provided excellent, common sense advice without the judgement I feared. She has offered easy to follow at-home exercises to help with the pain and pointed me in the direction of 'sensible shoes' that don't look like my 82 year old granny should be wearing them. However, there seemed to be an undercurrent of a certain arrogance typical of some Caucasians. During one of the treatments, we talked about a cat I had as a child that was killed by a cruel person. Out of nowhere, she asked, 'Do people in your country eat cats?' I was shocked. I had thought she was well-educated and would not ask a question reflecting such outdated perceptions from the 1990s. Her words truly hurt me. After that, her attitude towards me became strange, making me feel uncomfortable. Every minute I spent in her clinic after that was agonising. Such harmful language has made me feel like I can no longer communicate with others. Just because I come from a different country, should I be asked such strange questions? This is a severe violation of the ethical standards a doctor should uphold
