Omg so rude! I went for my birthday early Monday! Just was looking around with my boyfriend. I'm Mexican and he's white and this lady worker in her 40s cracked her neck looking at us, I'm assuming the blonde manager, asked if "are y'all okay?" in the most hostile way! Even my white boyfriend felt the hostility. I felt like we were judged for our clothes. We left soon quickly after that. Very unwelcoming. So yeah maybe don't wear athletic wear haha ! Absolutely terrible customer service. I wish I could give them zero stars but Yelp won't let me. The woman at the counter wouldn't sell to me and 2 others because one of us didn't have an ID. We drive back home to get the other's wallet, left the other at home, and the 2 of us returned. She proceeded to not sell to us because the third friend was not present. Apparently it's a state law? Very inconvenient. The same woman a few weeks back misread my ID thinking I was underage as well. Poorly staffed establishment and terrible hospitality!!! Shop elsewhere. read more

Nice selection of wine and hard to find spirits (especially LTOs) but I've now been to Pogo's three separate times and feel like it's no accident that I've had terrible customer service each time. I've not once been greeted or welcomed in. Not once been offered help and after my last visit where I wandered the aisles aimlessly looking for a specific bottle of something and passing not one, not two, not three but FOUR employees completely ignored me. I guess doing inventory during lunch hours is more important than an actual customer. With liquor stores being a dime a dozen in town, skip Pogo's. The parking is terrible anyway. read more

My 27 year old daughter was in the store with her19 year old sister over the holidays to purchase beverages for a dinner party she (the 27 y/o) was hosting that evening. She was told that because her sister was underage they would not allow the 27 y/o to make the purchase. My daughter questioned the clerk but was given the same response. She was so taken aback that she left instead of asking for a manager. I assume the clerk thought she was going to give the beverages to her sister - which she was not - but either way that is none of the clerk's business. Do they also withhold selling alcohol to those that they suspect have a drinking problem? If Pogo's policy is to judge the intent of someone with a valid ID to make a purchase please let me know so my family can take our business elsewhere. read more

I love this place! They have an amazing selection, in the cutest little corner locale, with the friendliest most helpful staff. It very quickly became my favorite liquor store after my first visit. There hasn't been a time they didn't have what I was looking for, and they give great recommendations too. *They're taking ALL the safety precautions with COVID going on too...masks required, directional arrows on the floor, distancing markers at checkout, limiting contact between employees and customers. This use to be my go to place for all things whiskey/bourbon, but then they decided that retail pricing doesn't exist. Let's charge 5 times what retail would be, that will make our customers happy. Very disappointed in what this store as become as a result of people in the area (Park Cities) being dumb enough to pay secondary market prices for bottles or bourbon that The store gets at less than retail from its distributors. Was in recently and saw a bottle marked up almost 5 times the MSRP. It's not by happenstance they know they can get away with such egregious pricing. Pogos you get good bottles and your staff is friendly and knowledgeable but your no better then any of the other skid row liquor stores marking up bottles. read more

I always find items here that I do necessarily see everywhere else. Pogo's also has special releases and rare finds. Where to start? I decided to give Pogos a tey this morning in a fool's errand for Blantons. Of course they didnt have it but the sales clerk steered me to EH Taylor small batch which they prices at 99 dollars. being new to whiskeys I asked a whiskey fb group with many seasoned experts in it about thisnbottle. They all immediately and nimerously said NO WAY . Retail should be closer to 45 . And indeed I found the bottle a little further north at another liquor store for 45. At what point does pricing for demand become price gauging? Pogos had DOUBLED the retail price! What a shameful way to traat cuatomers. Avoid this tip off of anplace like the plague. read more

I've been a customer with Pogo for a couple of years. I've purchased a wide selection of bourbon at fairly retail prices. But when I called and asked about a couple bottles of bourbon I was looking for and was told the price, I thought it was a joke when they wanted $65 for a bottle of Eagle Rare barrel pick which retails at $30 everywhere else and $400 for a bottle of Elijah Craig 18 that retails $100-120. I completely understand raising the prices for due to being a small store but this is ridiculous. read more

Holy shit, this place is amazing. This is the beverage store that God would go to if he imbibed the good stuff. And I do mean the good stuff. This location has some rare beer releases that are very hard to find in Texas. For example, this is one of the only stores in Texas that I've seen carry bombers of Twisted Pine Cucumber Ale. And that's just the beginning here, because the true fancy stuff is the hard(er) variety. They have several of the limited release Koons designed bottles of Dom Perignon, bottles of Louis XIII, and rare vodkas and spirits that I've only heard about. Interestingly enough, there's even an original Daniel Johnston framed up by the Louis setup. Even if you don't want to buy the fancy stuff, walking through this store is a trip through a boozy Wonderland. 10/10. Would fantasy shop again. read more

My first visit to Pogo's was the most unique liquor store experience I've ever had. Consider me stupefied by the insane collection of beverages they carry, the vast majority of which I've never seen in any other liquor store. The beer selection was also unique with options I've never seen. That alone is a reason to check this place out; you're gonna learn ya somethin' about fine liquor here. I want to focus on one wall of product that blew my mind, and that product is mezcal. I have turned into a mezcal junkie and the offerings at Pogo's brought me to tears. SO. MUCH. FINE. MEZCAL. Never have I ever seen such a collection of rare (and very expensive) bottles of mezcal. They had some "reasonable" bottles, one of which I bought ($50/750). It was completely worth the money (Alipus Mezcal Joven - San Juan). If I win the Powerball tonight, first thing I'm doing tomorrow is emptying the Mezcal section at Pogo's. I'd like to thank the employee I asked about Mezcal for giving me a short and pertinent description of the liquor and the back stories to every bottle they have! Pogo's is like a permanent (and large) trunk show of libations. They routinely carry obscure and/or non-mainstream labels as well as a few carefully curated usual suspects. Knowledge of the staff is beyond compare. Whether you're looking for a drink-now pinot, gift-worthy scotch, or an age-able Bordeaux, you'll have access to more sage advice than you bargained for. When (not if) you buy a case, you get 10% off as a Cork Club member, as well as points that can be used toward stemware purchase. Keep close to social media for events like winemaker visits and tastings - they pop up with little notice but include vertical tastings and small-name vineyards. Often for free. read more

Horrible experience. We came from out of state. 21 and 23 years old. Both got denied even though we had our drivers license to prove our age. Worker was unhelpful and unwilling to even scan our IDS. This is my favorite liquor store in Dallas! It seems small and unassuming from the outside, but they do not disappoint. If you're looking for any unique or rare wines, this is probably your best bet in Dallas to find it. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful with finding the right items for you. The prices, while not the absolute cheapest, are not absurdly overpriced either. They always do great free tastings on Saturday's - we've sampled $200 bottles of chateaneuf du pape French wines and even a sip of a several thousand $$ bottle of cognac, amongst other things. read more

Every time I have been to Pogo's, I have been there to check out the beer selection. Each time, I have been one of 2 customers in the building with many employees lolling around the front desk. I spend minutes in the beer area looking for beer and never has anyone asked me if I needed help. Only one of the times has someone asked me if they could help me and this was as I was leaving. I said "I'm looking for beers from Martin House." "Oh, we don't carry that beer." Me, "I saw that you have their sign in your window." Him, "Oh yea... but we don't carry it." Great. I don't know how they compete with Spec's, which has outstanding, competent, attentive work staff for beer, wine, and liquor. I'm sure the well-heeled, wine drinking Preston Hollow clientele support this nearby store. If you are a beer drinker, go to Specs as I do. read more
