    Cross your fingers that Uptown Dumpling succeeds in this spot located on the NW corner of Frankford and Preston. The food and ambiance are both 10/10 so there's hope the jinx is over. Let's start with the ambiance. The restaurant is exceptionally designed. It feels intimate because the seating has varied sections separated by artistic partitions. There's a lot of movement in the architecture-curved walls and columns that makes the space graceful and stylish. My only observation that was not quite right, is that the counter of the bar is too high for the bar stools. Sitting at the bar, which is gorgeous btw, feels awkward and has the "child at the adult table" effect. I've eaten here several time and the food has consistently been delicious. The dumplings are delicate, golden brown and perfectly pleated. The interior pork is plump and savory. Yum! I also loved the Uptown Spicy Chicken and the Kung Pao Chicken. I would skip the Egg Drop soup (bland) and I also was not a fan of the Uptown Fried Rice Cake. The texture was mushy for me. Overall this restaurant is a little slice of heaven right here in North Dallas.

    Food: After hearing glowing reviews (through social media and WOM), my partner and I decided to give this place a try. We ordered the Uptown Fried Rice (with shrimp), the Pork & Shrimp Xiao Long Bao, Taiwanese Braised Beef Noodle, and Pan-fried Shrimp Dumpling. The dumplings and fried rice were fine--they had a decent flavor to them. However, the beef noodle soup fell a bit short. The broth tasted like soy sauce more than anything and lacked the richness that I've enjoyed from other beef noodle soups. Service: No complaints. Came for lunch on a Sunday, with no wait for a party of two. However, the food did take a bit to come out of the kitchen. Waiter was attentive. Ambiance: Casual, modern. Parking: Ample parking. Located in a plaza. P.S. The floor in the men's restroom was very slippery. Take heed!

    We visited this restaurant for dinner on a Friday night. There was a 10 min wait and during our wait, we saw water dripping from the AC vents on the roof on the wait area chairs. Kinda gross and I hope the restaurants takes care of this. But with food, we still loved the steam soup dumplings, wontons in spicy sauce, the uptown special chicken, salt and pepper tofu, Dan Dan noodles and stir fried broccoli. The uptown fried chicken was beautifully seasoned and crispy. The dumplings had the right umami it deserved. The Dan Dan noodles was also nice with the right spice and texture of the noodles.

    I was highly intrigued by Uptown Dumpling given the chef is highly acclaimed. (Btw, it's located in Plano, not Uptown! But no complaints as parking was a breeze). Although named after dumplings, the Peking Duck caught my eye! And it did not disappoint. The skin was incredibly crisp, while the meat remained tender and juicy without being dry. When making the reservation, they asked to notify them at least an hour in advance for the duck, which we did. My only complaint is that the accompaniments didn't quite match the serving size. For a whole duck, the portions of cucumber, green onion, and duck sauce were very sparse, whereas on the other hand, the portion of granulated sugar was excessive. Reading other reviews, I am not the only one who feels this way. Next, the soup dumplings were very solid. The wrappers had a nice texture, the filling was flavorful, and there was a generous amount of soup inside! As a bonus, they use organic meat in their filling. The pan-fried dumplings were also excellent! If youve never tried them before, they're similar to xiaolongbao, but the dough is leavened and crispy on the bottom, but the filling is also soupy on the inside! We also ordered the duck fried rice. It was slightly greasy, but the flavor more than made up for it. There was a good amount of duck throughout, the portion was generous, and it had great wok hei. Definitely one of the better fried rices I've had in DFW. The interior is gorgeous and would make a great spot for a special occasion or date night. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation, especially if you're planning to order the Peking duck, as the restaurant was packed.

    5/5 stars. I finally tried Uptown Dumpling and it completely lived up to the hype! Chef Hao's Michelin-rated background really shows. The food quality is incredible for the price, and the space is beautiful. We ordered family-style and every single dish hit the spot. Their soup dumplings were excellent! Paper thin wrapper and loaded with soup. We had to get the HUGE Juicy Xiao Long Bao. It's basically 4 or 5 regular soup dumplings in one. The rest of our spread: The Wagyu & Black Truffle XLB, Pan Fried Beef Buns, Half Roast Duck, Signature Crispy Prawns in Plum Sauce, Wonton Soup, and Beef Pieces. Everything was delicious! Wontons in the wonton soup was chef's kiss. I'm cutting back on drinking right now, so we got the Jasmine tea. It was incredibly fragrant and came in a proper teapot. If you do want alcohol, their new happy hour deals are crazy good! Mondays and Thursdays feature half-priced wine bottles, meaning you can grab a bottle for as little as $20. I will definitely be back. Exceptional food, service and great vibes.

    The space for Uptown Dumpling has been many restaurants through the years, but this one - Uptown Dumpling is by far the best one! Let's start with the interior. Gorgeous! The designer put much thought into the details is this space. Tucked away a booths, warm interior, rich colors, and it doesn't stop there. Their to-go bags are beautifully designed. For the first time I was excited about bringing food home just because of the bag. We didn't have reservations so we sat at the bar - and it worked out well. Our bartender/bartender was delightful, engaging, offered excellent suggestions, and stay on top of our service the whole time. Such a pleasant experience. The food - delicious! We ordered the veggie spring rolls (cooked to a perfect crispness), mushroom dumplings (my first time to order dumplings and I loved them!) and chicken chow mein - delicious! This was such a great experience overall I look forward to coming back!

    I had a great experience at Uptown Dumpling! Our server, Matthew, was incredible. We told him it was our first time visiting, and he did a wonderful job explaining the menu and helping us decide what to order. The restaurant itself is well designed and sectioned off in a way that allows your table to have a more intimate atmosphere! We started with two orders of the soup dumplings, and they were absolutely delicious. I also ordered the hot and sour soup, which was flavorful, comforting, and perfect to start the meal. For my main dish, I got the chicken fried rice, and the portion size was huge, I was able to take leftovers home! To finish everything off, I grabbed a milk tea to go, and it was such a refreshing way to end the experience. Between the great service, delicious food, and generous portions, I'll definitely be back!

    Delicious food+ value = home run! This is our new favorite Chinese restaurant. The food was spectacular, and service was outstanding. Our waitress was so attentive and genuinely very friendly. Off in the distance, I could see hostesses working hard to make sure everything was running smoothly. I saw a lot of people come in from our table, so the restaurant filled very quickly for early dinner. Interior decor looks nice but only complaint about the atmosphere was A/C seemed to be blowing full blast on a not that warm day so it was colder than I would've liked and this made the food get cold quickly. The food was too-notch! We started out with the Pork & Shrimp Xiao Long Bao- the soup dumplings. They were delicious and perfectly chewy. Very satisfying texture and taste. For an entree, I had the Sichuan Dandan Noodles. These were absolute perfection. They are handmade noodles that had a perfectly springy texture. It comes tossed in a creamy sesame and chili sauce which was culinary bliss. I am very sensitive to spicy foods, so I asked to have this modified to be mild and it was fine. My husband got the King Pao Shrimp. He loved it, and it looked amazing, but I didn't try this dish based on the heat level. I seldom drink sodas, but I didn't try order a Sprite and it was served cold without ice- somehow, this was the best sprint I've had in a very long time and the carbonation was excellent. Overall Uptown Dumpling was solid in nearly every regard. Definitely coming back here soon!

    We've only been here once but I can see this being a place we visit multiple times. My brother and his wife discovered this place and it is worth the drive from McKinney. I love that they have soup dumpling options that are not just pork. What I really liked are the Wagu & Black Truffle dumplings and fungus salad (we ordered 2 of these). Their Peking duck was absolutely delicious. This is the first place I've been to that has wraps instead of buns, and it was so good. It comes with the usual toppings. The real star is the duck which was absolutely crispy and juicy, with no gamey taste. Definitely must try. The dishes that were ok are the cucumber salad, crispy spicy chicken, and prawn in plum sauce. The honey beef brisket was a miss for me. While absolutely tender, the sauce was not a hit at our table. Service was amazing and attentive. Our server was aware of our dietary restrictions and made suggestions accordingly. Must try.

    The service was impeccable! From the moment you walked in the door to paying. We had a party of 4 and waited at the bar for about 15 minutes. I had the Lychee Martini that wasn't too sweet nor tart. Tasted great. The other had the Asahi beer which is pretty common. We started with the one large Xiao long bao. It was good but we enjoyed the smaller ones better. They do not serve you a separate juice for the dumplings that you customarily receive. You make your own with the sauces in the table. We shared the uptown chow mein and noodles were cooked great. Next we had the uptown beef, it was so tender! The white rice they serve with it was perfect together. Fried rice was standard. Lastly, Taiwanese braised beef noodles. Noodles were good, however the broth was too beefy and no other flavors. I get it's suppose to be, but it was lacking a spice to finish it. Definitely worth going back.

    Service wasn't the best but food was good. The decor is stunning! Absolutely love the ambiance. I ordered the Taiwanese beef noodles and portion size is huge!!! The dish came abit luke warm to me but if they made it hot, I'd enjoy it more. Still, it's a delicious bowl of noodles. I would order it again and epic for $15 only! The huge xlb was also delicious but a little hard to eat. Still, I'd order it again.

    I really wanted to like this new place. I made a reservation for 5:30 PM on Friday night. Since it's a new location, I was hoping to get the feel of the ambience of all that work they put into the construction, instead, they put us in a room of four tables with no ambience with nothing exciting and a set of people at one of the tables that were on their phones constantly on video and loud. As for the food, we shared the Wagyu beef and truffle dumplings, which were too salty, the Mongolian beef dish, which was great, and the beef and broccoli dish, which was very bland. I will say the second Star I gave because of presentation. Everything comes out in nice dishes and they really spent a lot of money on paper goods to make things aesthetically pleasing. Again, I wouldn't know what was going on in the dining room because I never got to see it. Our server did a good job. My advice to the management is that if you have somebody who has made a reservation to come experience your restaurant put them in the dining area, if somebody is a walk-in, put them in those little rooms that look like bedroom rooms. I was very disappointed at that. I will not be returning. And unfortunately, I've already had friends who asked me about the restaurant and I already told them what I thought.

We were a small party so we only tried some dishes: Shu Mai, Shrimp Har Gow (eh), Chicken Feet, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Soup Dumplings, Fried Shrimp Balls, and Tofu Pudding for dessert. The stars of the show were the siu mai, the Baked BBQ Pork Buns and the Steamed BBQ Pork Buns. The siu mai was packed with fillings and it was so good, might be the best one I've ever had. The Baked buns were good but the buns might be a little too heavy. However, the steamed buns were so airy, light, and fluffy. I've never seen a bun that fluffy, it was like touching a cloud. It was still good when we reheated it at home, too! My boyfriend also loved the chicken feet, it was packed with flavor and very juicy. On the other hand, the soup dumplings were okay they didn't have any soup in them. The shrimp har gow wrapper was really thick, making it not as good. The tofu pudding was delicious. It's silken tofu with sweet ginger syrup, usually served with chewy balls but they didn't have that here. It was served hot and it was my childhood so I had to get it :) It looked like a lot of food but the bill came out to be around $50+, which wasn't bad given that we had a lot of leftovers for the day. I would definitely come back here!

In the bathroom products by the bar boxes and products. Huge piles of just junk. The food. I ordered the Peking duck. It came with a duck soup. The soup wasn't hot, not even warm. The Peking duck with accoutrements wasn't any better. The veggies were limp as if they had been sitting out all morning uncovered. The pancakes were very dry and lukewarm. But they got progressively colder. Last third of the basket was ice cold. The duck, was not hot. It also wasn't freshly made. It had been sitting out. It didn't have the crispy snap skin should have. It was super greasy. And because it was cool that grease was just sitting on the skin like a second coating. I paid but ate nothing. I won't be back and don't recommend.
