What an amazing place. A not so hidden gem. I'm from out of town and can't sort this place when comparing to Houston. I want to place it with Morton's or Maestros but it's its own beast. The staff is so friendly and seems like a family. The prices are 10% under comp eateries. It's as if the owners took the best part of all fine dining and combined them. Here it is a relaxed but respectful environment with food that you would think comes from a Michelin rated spot. The clientele is eclectic and younger. I'm 47 so I am not like those around me but can see the client base. I'm not sure if it's the minimal menu (please take this as an anti Cheesecake Factory comment) or the items compliments that are setting it apart. What I mean is the steak by itself is amazing. Truly a top 10 steak (ribeye at $48) or the accompanying sauce that it setting it apart. I advise take two to three bites from different stations of the meat. Then take the same bites with their paired glaze. Make your own decisions. You aren't telling the full story if you didn't pair it with a great house Bonanza cab (actually on happy hour except for Fridays). The verdict. This place will be one I will always take clients to when visiting Dallas. The verdict on me is that I'm a steak based reviewer so I might be wrong on all other aspects but the only likely wild card here would be the salads and seafood. I'm not here at a steakhouse for anything else. My wife can write that review. Last PS is that Dave the bartender is nice and accommodating and will let you explore the space . He is matter of fact but possibly could be a friend if not already to all. Watching Dave now live with his regulars says that he balances all customers very well. Negatives. Parking is just slightly odd. There is plenty of it and valet is free to customers. Let's not worry. No rush to get here at 5. The regulars and common come in around 6 as all others do on a Friday (this was my second night after being here for Thursday) Food has arrived. App is the carpaccio and holy shit wow. Not some boring small plate that exudes poor people suck. It's above average size like it should be . I'm not sure why the garlic bread is hear other than a nod to old school. My steak is in a to go box (nicely wrapped with utensils and yes that matters when you travel). This is my steak and if it sucks I'll remove the review. I'm kidding as it's a to go. We went for a weeknight date night. Was about 5:30pm. Plenty of room and no need for a reservation. The host didn't even ask, which I found refreshing. Nice place with white tablecloths, but not overly so. Still casual enough. Prices are great for the quality of food. We both had the filet. Was delicious! The sauce that came on it was divine! The only thing I didn't like was the steaks come with fries and you can't substitute. Who doesn't let you substitute? I would have preferred something else. Server was very nice and attentive. Skip the corn, sounded tasty in theory but the execution was "off"--it was pretty flavorless and watery. The kale SALAD was to die for omg!! Do you hear me?! I don't even like kale like that. Good friends brought us here for one of our several in-town dinners last December. We had an early reservation time so parking was a breeze on this evening. When we left the restaurant, the valet parking station was quite busy. The interior is spacious and has tall ceilings, lending a feeling of a grander space. On this particular evening, my quick observation let me believe this was a restaurant with lots of celebrations(i.e. birthdays). I ordered their Signature Steak Frites(Prime Ribeye at 14 ounces). I ordered the picanha that came with the shoestring fries and my husband ordered tenderloin with the broccoli o & squash with a side of the Asian kale salad. My picanha, though ordered medium seemed a bit overdone but it was a very lean piece of steak. Overall it was still very tasty! Overall experience is closer to 3.5 stars. The restaurant interior is large, with tall ceilings and is definitely airy. Our group of 7 were seated at a large table somewhat near the main entrance. It was so large that we moved closer together as this table really could easily fit 11 adults. I had to order their highlighted item, which is their Signature Steak Frites, more specifically I had their Prime Ribeye(14 oz.) which is aged 60 days. In town on business and I was highly recommended to come to Steakyard. Upon arriving you get an immediate sniff of the sweet Smokey smell of open fire... a true steakhouse staple. I was greeted with a welcoming hello and I was immediately taken to my table. Decor was modern yet cozy, linen on tables and semi comfortable chairs (I'm a curvy girl and I sometimes struggle but I made it work!) Bright and open spaces. There are a few large booths but those are for larger groups and I was dining solo. My server was kind and attentive. He gave me great suggestions and I went for the Charbroiled Oysters as a starter accompanied by a dirty Belvedere martini. Both were delish! Next I went with the Tenderloin Bistro steak and skinny fries. All of their steaks come with skinny fries. Steak could've been more charbroiled & unfortunately my fires were less than warm :( I was reluctant to say anything because I did not want to receive another large portion of fries and let it all go to waste. I did however provide feedback and insisted not to get a replacement order of fries. But explained I only wanted to give the feedback so they are aware, in hopes that someone else doesn't complain. Tried this place out with my fiancé for the very first time. Upon arrival the restaurant is extremely beautifully designed blending modern and old with great ambience music in the background. Our waiter was also very kind and attentive and service was very good. However unfortunately although the place is beautiful and the service was great the food was not amazing. We got the tenderloin steak, Cesar salad, and Penne chicken vodka pasta. Although the presentation was beautiful the steak was cooked a bit too raw for me and the penne pasta chicken flavor was very average. The Cesar salad sauce was also not amazing. We went to the Steakyard as a group of 12 for a bachelor party. They had the table ready exactly when we got there and didn't say anything about us being a few minutes late. We had an oversized vehicle that we parked in the back. They do have valet but it's a large enough, easy lot. Ironically we had BBQ for lunch but several people got the steaks and really enjoyed them. Mushrooms are $6 extra, very clearly labeled on the menu. The amount is typical steak mushroom amount. There's not a ton of options. One person got 3 sides, which was the price of 1 entree and about the same size. I got the lobster risotto and prawns. It was very good. The menu does say reduction, so it's not actual lobster. It did taste like lobster. The prawns were also very tasty. Everyone really liked the espresso martini. They make a shape stamped on the top. Rodrigo our server made our experience so amazing. He was able to recommend a few options and also substitute a few things our drinks. We all ordered the ribeye steak and frites and that was a great option. They were able to cook it at different temperatures that we requested. I would like to state that this review does not reflect or represent every experience we have had here. We have visited several times before and the last time being for my birthday back in April and we had an excellent time. Today for our 6 year anniversary we decided to do our tried and true. Steakyard, from the amazing and always excellent food to the phenomenal service (Felix is a absolute pillar of what exceptional service is) unfortunately today we did not receive that same service. Our server Sebastian greeted table promptly and provided drinks and apps fine, when appetizers hit the table we order entrees. Finished our cocktails and watched him pass by our table 5-9 times before a second round was offered. We received our entrees. Still no cocktail and did not get the second half of one dish until after cocktails arrived... We closed out and decided this was no longer the type of experience we wanted for our 6th year anniversary celebration and on our way out I happen to stop a gentleman that looked like the general manager, he in fact was and once I stated how our experience was, his response was "Sebastian was a new hire who had only been there for two weeks." Understandably I said thank you and left. My frustrations are no longer with Sebastian but management who let this individual fail and never once stepped foot in his section to assit. Sebastian, you deserved a better support system from your management team especially on a Friday night. I am only leaving this review to highlight where I believe Sebastian could of been better supported and where management fell extremely short. This is a great example where a phenomenal spot with amazing food can fall short of with service and needs fine tuning for service. I can go anywhere for good food. The restaurant has a large and very open dining area so i imagine it can be pretty noisy if every single table is filled, but i thought there was a decent amount of space between tables. Stealyard is a great place for a simple date night or dinner! Their menu is very straightforward, mostly known for the steak frittes and peppercorn sauce. The dinner started off a bit rough with service cause there was a mix up apparently. It took about 10 minutes before someone noticed we weren't attended too but they promptly fixed it and were attentive for the rest of our dinner. The tenderloin bistro came out dry looking but it was still very juicy and cooked to a nice medium rare. The prime coulotte was much better looking but they cooked it to a medium unfortunately. Fries were very yummy and plentiful. That peppercorn sauce is a MUST to make the dish. Without, the steak is bland. We were comped for the chimichurri and garlic aioli which was very kind of them. I really liked the aioli with the fries and the chimichurri had a nice kick of spice to it. I never get mac n cheese anywhere but we decided to splurge a bit and it was soooo good. I highly recommend getting this as one of your sides to share! The drinks we had were great too! I really liked the taste of the martini and the margarita was very very frozen.
