Pax seemed nice, and I gave him the money, but as soon as he went home I was left to deal with staff members who were not less than savage, as they kept my money. I was in true despair and was ready to throw it all away, everything I had worked so hard for, all of it, it was horrible. By chance we found this facility and it was exactly what I needed. I was ready and willing to do whatever it took to get myself back in order and La Ventana gave me the tools that are necessary to make that happen. The staff treated me like family and everyone on board is passionate about what they do. I was given the structure and encouragement I needed, they were patient with me and let me be myself. They absolutely went above and beyond for me and my family and I will be forever grateful to them. I'm so glad we found this facility and my new extended family. I participated in every single group and never missed a single day. during my stay someone relasped on meth and was allowed back into the program. I was let go after crying and begging to stay for hitting my weed vape pen , admitting it and promising I would stop bc I needed this accountability . They refused and asked me to leave . I want everyone to know I left and went to a place called Totality . That continues to work with me and every single client to ensure they can stay and work on themselves. I also recently saw a client that relapsed back at clear again . I have been sober ever since , and that is because of leaving clear and finding a place that is welcome to all addicts and alcoholics with open arms . And our daughter was treated with respect and love. We never worried about what would happen to her or feared for her safety, which means a lot. It was important to my husband and myself to have our daughter placed in a setting that respected her and also did cutting edge therapy. Instead, I was systematically broken down and rebuilt into a compliant "ideal patient". I was forced to make a phone call to all my friends and my boyfriend on the outside to end my relationships with them while a counselor listened in. I was completely emotionally isolated because it wasn't safe to share real feelings with my peers in the program, the counselors, or my parents. Sharing real feelings meant that I might not be able to go home or I would be sent to "long term treatment". When I had a terrifying panic attack due to what I was going through in the program, I wasn't comforted, I was assigned to write an essay with the title "Breakdown or Breakthrough?", which tried to convince my vulnerable young mind that my own psychological breakdown because of the program was actually the program healing me. My parents were trained not to believe me. I entered with a voice. I left unable to identify my own feelings and with a mask that took years to take down. There's so much more, but for the sake of brevity, I'll leave it at that. Parents deserve to know that this place doesn't heal children - it dismantles them. If you're considering sending your child here, please hear me: the damage may be invisible, but it is lasting and real.
