If survival shows had a snorkeling episode, it would be here. You have to walk FOREVER just to get to the ocean, then walk through the water to even reach the snorkeling spot. Parking? Better wake up at 5:30 a.m. because there's barely any unless you enjoy circling like a lost seagull. And the waves??? Felt like the ocean had personal beef with everyone there. People were getting tossed around and there were basically no signs warning how rough it was. Came to snorkel, almost left fighting for my life. read more

This is a beautiful spot and the attendants are super nice and helpful. We rented chairs and umbrellas here and it was worth it.

It's nice to walk Crescent beach and get to this point. It's really cute how they have turned a large bush into a Christmas tree. My last day here I find a shell that would fit through a branch and marked my stay by placing the shell on the branch and stepping back to take it in. Little memories will hold me when I'm stressed with work this year. I can easily see how birth locals and visitors make this morning trek while it is so peaceful and quiet at the beach. read more

Nice beach, snorkeled there at the point. Not like the keys but a nice place without going that far south.

I was kinda disappointed because I heard it was the best place for snorkeling but I went 3 times and the water was too mucky to see anything. I also noticed the smell over here was so much worse than anywhere else. If you're looking for shells this place is the best place to find them. You'll find tons of them song the wall going to the rocks. NO PARKING. DO NOT follow maps to "point of rocks" it will bring you to a neighborhood. You need to go to google and put in "Public Beach Access 12" this will bring you to an alley way with free parking. This is the closest parking. Once you park you have to walk to the beach then you walk about 15 minute all the way down to your left. You'll run into a wall that you walk around and there you will find the point of rocks. Look at pictures to see. WEAR SHOES!!! Water shoes suck because the broken shells get into your shoes and you can't get them back out unless you take your shoes off. I wore Velcro sandals so they didn't slip off my feet and the shells didn't get stuck. It is impossible to walk over to the point of rocks with no shoes unless you want to cut your feet open. There are sharp broken shells everywhere and you can't avoid them. The rocks look a lot prettier online. When you see them in person it's not as exciting. read more

We rode our bikes to the path so didn't worry about parking. When we walked to the beach I was confused because I didn't see any rocks. You have to go out in the water and around the point to get to the rocks. So many shells and so cool. Loved exploring. Kids loved it. Highly recommend. read more

Point of Rocks ( some call it Point O' Rocks ) is a series of rock formations that are located straight out from crescent beach near Siesta Key, Florida. Point of Rocks can be accessed on low tide and is one of the best snorkeling spots in Sarasota. From cool rock formations to exotic fish, this is a must see for everyone. The best advice I have is to swim/walk out through the ocean in the morning on low tide. You can actually walk on these rocks when the tide is low because the rock formation is exposed. Park free at the beach access #12 on Old Stickney Point Rd. When you get to the beach, head left until the beach ends. Point of Rocks is straight out, maybe 50-100 yards. Best site for snorkeling, Depths are shallow even 100 yards offshore on the rocks. Best at low tide! Enjoy! read more

Best spot to snorkel around Sarasota. I went about an hour before the high tide and saw lots of fish (bait balls, puffer, crabs, striped little fish and more) around the rocks and corals. Access is through the Crescent Beach and walk south to the end. Parking is extremely limited and street parking is available on Old Stickney Point Road. There is no facilities at this beach but just 2 miles north at the main Siesta Beach, there are outdoor showers. Ticketing is aggressive so plan accordingly. read more

Saw the review below. I did not know how to get there from public beach access so that is great.. I've always been there by boat. The only thing I wanted to add was the small cove at the south end is great for viewing fish as well. ( Right up at the rocks on the shore line) The area attracts dolphins pretty regularly, so that is a unique bonus. read more

Literally impossible to find a good parking spot so you don't have to walk 5 miles to reach it. We had to park all the way at the end of turtle beach an walk to the rocks an then we finally got there the smell was HORIBBLE smelt like a dead fish there were flies an dead crabs/eels/fish everywhere. The sand on turtle beach was rough an almost had a cliff like drop off to the ocean... definitely not the prettiest site. Would not recommend unless you are staying within walking distance. Y'all need a another spot for the public access. read more

Beautiful spot, used to be able to walk around the wall below the house at low tide and find fantastic, hard to find shells, were lots of them, and fisherman able to fish there. Owner of the house has now put up barriers to walking the wall at the end of Siesta Crescent Beach so unless you want to swim can't get there anymore after years of being able to share the natural environment. Although I understand their desire for privacy I think ocean and shells should be available to all to enjoy! read more

Access to the beach is not the easiest but if you go early you might get lucky. The point was nice but water is a bit murky. Crowds were small. Saw several different types of tropical fish but nothing like the southern keys. If you have the right expectations this is a great activity. read more

It was great for snorkeling and fishing. If you are looking for a sandy beach don't look there because there is no sand it's just shells. If you go wear your shoes. I lkve this location. Make sure to carve your name in the rocks. read more

Awesome place to find shells. Look for the big yellow mansion. Plan to go during low tide. We found some really great shells!
