I was super excited for this place to open. I felt sick after trying out a custom marinated tuna bowl. The portion of actual fish was very small compared to the rice and toppings you choose. I had NO idea of what to order and they were extremely helpful! Great Customer service is hard to find these days but they exceeded it! I made my own bowl and simply added things I liked. They also made suggestions and were able to explain what some items were that I was not familiar with. The food was fresh and amazing! Just stuffed my face here for lunch. Got a bowl of spicy tuna on a salad base with avocado, green onions and ginger coconut sauce. Both the tuna and avocado were heaping portions. Don't know if they started being more generous after reviews of small servings or if I had a heavy handed server but I ate every bite and couldn't eat one more! The two people behind the counter were extremely helpful and pointed me in the right direction. The poke was outstanding and SO fresh. Visited this place right before Fourth of July and it wasn't busy at all. The food was beautifully laid out for choosing specific items. There were 5 options of premade bowls but we decided to make our own. I got a few items with the poke with spicy mayo. We decided to get the rice separate because we were driving back to charleston and didn't want the poke to cook on the rice. My parents got the poke with soy sauce, salmon, and shrimp combo. I would say that the poke was good tasting but they don't give you much of it in their bowls. It isn't as good as the ones you can get in Hawaii but for the cost of a plane ticket there, this was as good as its going to get. They don't have a place to sit down in there so it's grab and go. read more

My boyfriend and I have been loyal customers of Poke Bros for over a year. We always had a positive experience both with the food and service up until our last visit. The gentleman working was extremely rude. He rolled his eyes multiple times while we were ordering and ignored several requests for additional toppings. In the past we were given large portions of fish and toppings, but this time, our bowls were barely half-filled. Not worth the $12 per bowl. I don't think we will be returning to the Greene Street Poke bar, but the Poke Bros in the Vista is great! The service has been awesome the several times we've been there and the food is always plentiful. Freshe Poke is a solid choice, too. read more

I will say it's difficult to find but if you park in front of pita pit in a metered parking spot and look across the street you'll see steps that will take you right to it! Poke Brothers is one of my favorite places in Columbia for a take out lunch. I mostly get the vegetarian so it's a bowl of really fresh vegetables that are all very tasty. This is a more than adequate lunch, I might put the bowl in the fridge after eating half and finish it later. Yet I can feel full but not gain any weight, always a good point. My go to bowl is the Hula bowl, but there are so many options you could go almost everyday and never repeat! Service is usually very prompt and there is hardly ever a line longer than 3ish people. When you first walk in, it is pretty small. Keep in mind that it is a "To-Go" concept so don't expect for there to be tables and chairs. We walked in to a warm welcome from the young lady behind the counter who seemed very eager to help us. To the left of the wall there is a menu for specialized bowls, which I totally recommend for a first timer. I had the Da kine bowl ($12 or $13) but for $3 extra, I added salmon. I also love the fact that you have a choice between brown or white rice. The other option is building your own bowl, which you have a good selection of toppings to choose from. Chen, the owner, was extremely friendly and made some amazing suggestions based off of what I usually like on sushi in general. In all honesty, you get your money's worth when you REALLY think about how much it cost to get one specialty sushi roll elsewhere ($12/ $13) vs. a big bowl of it. Overall the service was great, you get your money's worth, and the food of course was very fresh and fantastic. Other than the fact that it has no seating and it is tucked away on the side of a building, it is a hidden gem. Every single time I've eaten here I've ended up with a stomach ache. There's just something off in the taste of the food here. I'm not sure if it's the rice, or how they keep their fish and shrimp, or what--but sometimes it's just gross. Nothing tastes fresh here, and everything has a weird aftertaste and leaves me with a nauseated feeling. I LOVE sushi and poke, just not from here! I haven't experienced poke except in California and this place in Columbia, SC far exceeds any poke bowl I've had yet. You pick your base -white or brown rice or lettuce. I usually pick avocado, onion, spicy tuna, marinated tuna, crab, and tempura flakes as my toppings and siracha mayo as the finishing touch. I've had this twice now and both times it was well worth the $15 price tag. I remember being a bit shocked st the price, but considering all of the fresh ingredients, it's actually a fair price.
