Poke had become one of my favorite weeknight meals. I have been to a different Poke bros. before, and it was great, so when I saw this one, it was the obvious choice I found that they are all individually owned. This one had a more welcoming lobby that encourages you to eat in. I had the Duke bowl and steamed dumplings. The Duke is salmon, tuna and shrimp, veggies and rice, topped with spicy sauce. Tried to go to dinner during some winter weather and we tried many places before stumbling into this place that was open. Everywhere else was closed which was very disappointing. Check In! Poke Bros Bistro is conveniently looked next to smoothie king so it's automatically one of my fav spots. Being gluten free they have sauce options that are safe and I have not gotten any reactions. I have only gotten the poke here and I usually go for salmon because I'm not really a tuna girl. The lady there is super nice and patient and I actually enjoy interacting with her. I have never visited and it's ever really packed with dine in eaters but while I wait there are a lot of dashers coming in and out. Service is quick and easy. Because of its location it you may sometimes have difficulty parking but it's not really an issue... for me. read more

Poke Bros Bistro is a very unassuming spot that sits between some powerhouse restaurants in the Gervais Street area, but it DEFINITELY did not disappoint! I tried the Tonkatsu Ramen with Charsu Pork and it was incredible! I waited only about 5-7 minutes for my meal to come out and it was sooo worth the wait! The pork had plenty of rich saltiness to balance the broth. It was well roasted and melted in my mouth! I'm not sure if the noodles are made in-house but they really tasted like they were! The noodles were a perfect al dente and plentiful within the soup. I'm pretty sure I lapped the remaining broth out of the bowl because it was so good! Additionally, I also got the taro milk boba. The tapioca pearls were still warm and gooey, so I'm assuming they were freshly made. Not often will you get boba with FRESH tapioca in it! I have dined here three times now and I really want to like it but both times I have gotten takeout, the order has been wrong. The first time, I paid extra for avocado and didn't get any. Tonight they completely forgot my PROTEIN and sauce. Everything was written on my receipt but somehow it was completely missing. I just ordered poke from Poke Bros to be delivered via GrubHub tonight. I decided to build my own bowl and my first impression is that I thought it was interesting how they didn't have multiple bowl sizes to begin with. There is only one size bowl and they don't tell you how many scoops of protein you get (but maybe the assumption is that you get 2 scoops since there is a half/half option, I'm not sure). You just get an additional charge ($2.50-$3.50) for any extra scoops of protein instead of just having a regular and large sized option. This only bothered me because the bowl was about $14.75 and I don't think the amount I got in this bowl was anywhere near worth that price. I checked to see the difference in pricing if I were to order on their website vs. GrubHub and while it is only $11 for the same bowl on their website, just by picking your protein on GrubHub, you get an additional charge of $3.75. I'm not sure if restaurants control the pricing on GrubHub, but all I know is that delivery apps take a large percentage from restaurants, so that's why I only knocked one star for the price and the value I got out of the bowl. Prices aside, the bowl itself wasn't anything too special to me. I've had my fair share of poke from numerous restaurants and I don't think Poke Bros can really compete with them. I felt that they are a little stingy with the ingredients as I noticed only a couple could be added for an extra charge, like seaweed salad and masago, while most restaurants I've been to add it with no extra charge. I also thought they were stingy with the protein since I felt like the proportion of the other ingredients was much higher than the protein itself. If we were to pretend that I paid $11 for this bowl, I still have eaten much heartier bowls at the same price with a wider variety of ingredients to add in with no extra charge. I won't let that discount the taste of the bowl, however. I think the sauce combination I chose was tasty (Sriracha Aioli, Ponzu, and Sweet Soy). Although I got bigger mouthfuls of the ingredients rather than the protein, the overall flavor was still enjoyable. I'm glad I got to give this place a try since I love checking out new poke places, but I will be looking elsewhere for poke in Columbia in the future. read more

I popped into Poke Bros after stopping next door for Cupcakes and boy am I glad I did. This was my first time having a poke bowl and I wish I tried it earlier in my life. This is what my diet has been missing. I had the chicken and shrimp high tide bowl (went with a safe option since I'm a newbie) and the various ingredients blended beautifully and tasted amazing. I've gone here twice now and only for the ramen. I'm not big on the poke bowl trend going on right now, but Columbia can always use more ramen places. The only two others I know of are Ramen House and Inakaya. The first time I got the spicy Tonkatsu and the second time I got the Shio. I also tried my bf's Shoyu. The chasu pork meat is delicious and melts in your mouth. The bamboo shoots were incredibly flavorful and probably my favorite part. The soft boiled egg is marinated with tons of flavor. The first bowl I had the bean sprouts were undercooked, pretty crunchy raw, but second time they were perfect. I will say the broth isn't as flavorful as other ramen I've had. Not bad, just could use some more punch. But the ingredients quality is high. In comparisons to Ramen House, the interior decorating at this place is miles ahead. RH is plain, kind of falling apart, and dirty, while this place is well designed and clean. I've noticed RH's meat portion size has gone down over the years. Sometimes you only get two tiny pieces. This place gave three large slices. The egg and vegetables I prefer here as well. However, the broths at RH are better. I really wish I could combine the two. A big suggestion though is to PLEASE get ramen spoons. Trying to eat a big soup bowl with a tiny plastic spoon is such a challenge and you really loose out on combining the noodle and broth flavor. I will literally probably bring my own next time. Also it looks like this place used to do a bunch of sushi? But not anymore? There was only ramen and poke bowls when I went. The only thing that tasted good was the broth. Everything else was really really bad including the Ramen noodles themselves. The beef had so much fat that my husband could barely eat any of it. I am a big fan of Ramen. I've loved it ever since I spent time in Korea over 20 years ago. It's like the perfect comfort food for me in cold weather but I can eat it anytime. With that being said, there has been an influx of Ramen places opening up all over the U.S. but I have never taken the time to try any. Lucky for me my coworker suggested this place for a Poke Bowl. Once we got there they had a makeshift sign up saying that they now served ramen. I took a look at what they had to offer and chose a type that had ingredients in it I would put in my home made ramen. Unfortunately the name of the dish I chose escapes me but regardless it was delicious. It was the best ramen I've had since leaving Korea. Being a meat lover, my ramen included pork, chicken and eggs. I loved it so much a week later I suggested we go back there for lunch again. I was not disappointed. This was a very nice spot off of Lincoln St. in the vista. I was very impressed with the decor of the restaurant. There is also patio seating and a bar for extra seating. The menu was a bit confusing but after a few minutes I caught on. I had the lunch special today two rolls and a choice of soup or salad. I had the salad but the ginger dressing was a bit tart for me. I really enjoyed the shrimp tempura roll and I forgot what the second roll was but it included raw tuna.
