I'm just getting into poke bowls so I looked for a place in east Fort Lauderdale. This had average reviews. Easy parking and there were no other customers the Sunday at noon we visited. They have indoor and outdoor seating. You go through the line and pick your toppings or can choose from created menu items. I had the spicy tuna with the included toppings of lettuce, brown rice, cucumber, crispy onion, tomato, carrots, and edamame. The coconut sauce was sweet and tasty. Everything seemed fresh. It was $30 for two bowls. They don't have a drink machine and only have bottled drinks. Overall it was ok. I look forward to trying other places. read more

Against my better judgement, I got poke while I was in Florida for a friend's wedding. As someone from Hawaii, continental US poke is always a gamble. From bizarre ingredients (looking at you California) to questions if that's even fish in Midwest America, it's always cringe first and wondering if I'm going to regret it. Poke Bros, located in a strip mall walkable from the hotel we were staying at offers a clean restaurant in a subway style create your own poke bowl experience. Is this as good as Hawaii? No. Not even close. But is this good for Florida? I'd wager yes. Will eating poke in Hawaii ruin you for Florida and make you kind of snobby about all of this? Also, yes. We got a half spicy salmon, half tuna over white rice, with a variety of diced vegetables along with a topping of masago (capelin or smelt roe) and then drizzled with a sauce. The fish quality was fairly high, fresh, firm and without any funky smells. Quantity could have been more, but maybe I'm just used to both quantity and quality. Rice was a bit hard at dinner, so you may want to visit at lunch when the rice is fresher, but it could have just been that day. It was a bit weird having things like carrots in our bowl, which is very untraditional, but why not? The dressing on top was tasty. The guy working was polite and responsive. Price after tip was on the high side of what I'm used to as Hawaii grocery stores have decent pokebowls for under $12,, but this is Florida and the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area is expensive, apparently more than Honolulu. Go figure. So all in all, not bad. 3.5 stars on a Florida curve. read more

It's a great addition to a busy area and I know it's going to do well during busy season. The featured bowls all sounded delicious. However, you could also create your own bowl. I got the Duke and boy was it flavourful and loaded with ingredients. The fish was so fresh and so flavourful. The staff was friendly and efficient. First off, when I walked in the place had a funny smell. Not a smell like bad food, more like a courtesy flush from the bathroom would have helped. There are a lot of toppings options. One of them was fish eggs which had an up charge. I don't mind paying, but when you put a penny size amount on the top, it's kinda embarrassing. I had to ask if I could get a dollar's worth. The way they had the fish out just didn't do it for me. It was not bad or spoiled, it just didn't look fresh or even that appetizing. I'm a troop though. I ordered, I paid and I gave a smell check before I ate. All and all, Disappointed. I have had some really good Poke bowls and this was just not that good. The scent was so strong that the fish served in my bowl smelled and tasted of cigarettes. It grossed me out enough where I had to throw away the bowl once I got home to eat. This was an online order pickup. It was a quick and easy process to order online and this is right inside of the plaza down the street from where I work. I was able to walk over within 10 minutes and pick up my bowl. I ordered a tuna bowl, build it yourself with marinated tuna & Sushi rice base. When ordering online I was able to pick one protein and one base. I was able to add as many toppings as I would like and fillings when it came to veggies, with a few having up charges like avocado or crab. When I went inside the place was nice, quiet and clean. The staff was very friendly. I was able to just pick up my bowl and go. The cost of the bowl and the pick your own two mochi was about $20 with tax and tip. I will say the marinated tuna wasn't my favorite and there are onions in it so just be aware. If you're not an onion fan. The tuna tasted fresh. I just don't think I liked the marinade personally. So next time I think I will try it with just regular raw tuna. They do offer spicy tuna options but it looks like it is spicy mayo. I overall had a good experience. Maybe next time I will try ordering in person to see the difference. I would definitely suggest checking them out if you're in the area. read more

Poke Bros did not do it for me. There's better, fresher Poke at Publix next door or So Fresh. I agree with the reviews below- the food did not look fresh. The rice was hot, which is not the correct temperature for a poke bowl. Veggies and fruits were not cut appropriately like the Cucumbers were huge so was the lettuce. The pineapple and mango is clearly from a can. Carrots are drowned in liquid. The fish did not look fresh at all. I understand having the protein out for view, but when it's a heap of protein being displayed it does not look fresh at all. The extra fish eggs was barely served. Most toppings were barely served, had to say something every time. The person serving my food did not wear gloves. And the moment they closed by bowl up they ran to the back. It was just weird vibes.
