Very, very pleased…read more A friend of mine recommended Village Goldsmith, when I was looking to have some rings resized. Prices were crazy around town ($40-$45), but Village Goldsmith was much more reasonable at $25 for my silver rings (Yes! He even resizes silver!) & $30 for my white gold rings. The Goldsmith was very friendly & extremely efficient, & his work was impeccable. I feel like I have brand new rings! I will tell all my friends to go to him first, if they ever need any work done on their jewelry. Unfortunately, his shop is tucked away in the Village Mall & not easy to spot. Look for the huge sign in the corner for Blarney Stone Pub & Restaurant, directly below it you will see the word Goldsmith. Walk under the arch & the pub is to the left & the Goldsmith is to the right.

I have gone there on many occasions and am always extremely satisfied with the quality of the work,…read morefriendly service and low prices. You can go there for something simple like a battery for your watch, get jewellery repaired, buy an original piece (not those generic ones you find at the jewellery stores in the malls), or get something created with your own design. I have done all of the above, and am 100% satisfied. If anyone is looking for truly beautiful, out of the ordinary, classy rings, I really recommend you go here first! The place looks small, and is kind of hidden (between the Blarney Stone and Red Deer Buffet) but don't let that deceive you.

It's a common misconception, I think, that most men believe that custom made engagement rings would…read morecost more than if they would just go to a brand jewelry store. I discovered Marlow Diamonds & Design when I went to jewelry stores and found that they could only give me a close match of what I wanted, and not 100%. As a customer, you have the right to get exactly what you paid for. Marlow sat down with me in front of a computer and showed me concept designs of engagement rings until I saw something that made me go, 'This is exactly how I envisioned it'. He never tried to upsell beyond my given budget. He is not a pushy salesman. He would just let me decide and point out the features that I want until I was satisfied. From start to finish, the end product was exactly as shown on the rendered image. No surprises. No wondering why it looks different from the render. We even had to resize the ring at the last minute to a smaller piece, and they were able to accommodate our request. Excellent customer service! My fiancee loved every detail. Marlow will make sure that every dollar you spend here is well spent!

We chose this jeweler based on their overall good reviews (looking back I regret to not looking at…read morethe bad ones). One month after receiving my custom engagement ring, three of the six prongs snapped and my diamond fell out. The ring had to be completely remade due to a manufacturing defect, and what followed was poor communication, quality-control issues, and multiple trips back to the store. Kat, the person that many people praised in the reviews, no longer works there. Initially, everything seemed promising. Kat was great to work with and gave my Fiancé confidence in moving forward with a custom design. Just one month after our engagement, three prongs broke and my diamond fell out. Thankfully, we didn't lose the diamond. After inspecting the ring, Marlow admitted the prongs had likely been cut too deeply or lacked sufficient gold support and that the ring would need to be completely remade rather than repaired. We then went three weeks without any update and only learned the replacement was ready after I contacted the store myself. When we picked up what was supposed to be a brand-new ring, it already had visible scratches and was made to the wrong specifications. We had ordered a 2.5 mm band, but the replacement measured 2.92 mm. After few days, we returned again only to find fresh scratches that needed correcting while we waited. To their credit, they refunded the ring setting cost. However, that does not undo the experience. An engagement ring is one of the most meaningful purchases a person can make, and instead of enjoying our engagement, we spent weeks dealing with a failed ring, a complete remake, communication problems, and repeated quality-control mistakes. I genuinely would not wish this experience on any couple during what should be one of the happiest and most exciting times of their lives. I would strongly encourage anyone considering a custom engagement ring here to take your business elsewhere. You don't want to risk it and we learned it the hard way.

Initially, we were blown away by the service we received in-store as prospective buyers…read more Unfortunately, that feeling didn't last long after the purchase. We have had our ring for just over two years. In that time, my wife has had possession of the ring for about 4 months. The other year and a half plus, the ring has been in service having missing diamonds replaced. In two years, diamonds have fallen out of the ring AT LEAST 10 TIMES. Fortunately, I purchased the lifetime Jewellery Care Plan, so the repairs have been free, but that hasn't stopped them from trying to charge us EVERY time. It's been a battle on, literally, every single occasion. We have tried to have the ring remade (they won't do it), we have tried to negotiate a fair exchange (they won't do it), and finally, we are at the point where we are just trying to get our money back (but they don't want to do it). So, if you're a fan of buying rings that live in the service shop and make the odd appearance on your or your wife's finger, then this is the place for you! If you're into having people tell you they'll call you back with answers, never to hear from them again, you are in for a serious treat! If you love making a large purchase from a business, only to be forgotten and neglected once they have your money, look no further; THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! I hope this has been helpful to any potential shoppers out there! I'll update this if we're ever able to find a solution, but diamonds have been falling out since the first month we got it and we haven't found a resolution yet... so I wouldn't hold your breath. Update: Paris has decided it is easier to refund the money after two years and let us shop somewhere that would like to take a little better care of us. Unfortunate, as we will miss the perfect (looking) ring my wife and I picked out together.
