My friends and I wanted to try something different for a girls night, so we decided to take a pole dancing lesson. Not knowing what to expect we arrived a few minutes early and were greeted by Mona, the owner, who immediately made us feel comfortable & confident. The studio's decor & overall feel made us feel right at home. We began the class with some warmup exercises and A LOT of silly banter. Then we jumped right into our sexy walks & "firemen". Of course at first we were a little embarrassed and nervous but Mona was totally patient, SKILLED, and professional! She coached and cheered us on, and gave each of us that 1 on 1 attention we needed to get the job done :-) Awesome experience AND we were told that their services were expanding to include dance and yoga classes in the upcoming months. Definitely planning to return!

All of these classes have been great and I highly recommend trying them. First of all, I'm new in town and don't know anyone so I took my very first pole class by myself. I was nervous, but the instructor, Autumn and other students were very welcoming and made me feel right at home. Secondly, I don't have any gymnastics or dance background, but Autumn structures the class to accommodate each student's ability. So if you're feeling like you're not capable of learning pole dance I assure you that you are and there's a class at this studio that is suitable for your needs. Also, with the price and parking it's incredibly accessible. The price is really reasonable. The intro package was the best deal around. At the time, (not sure if it's still going on) it was just $30 for three classes. The parking situation is THE BEST! They have two lots right in front with open free parking. I couldn't write this review without mentioning the beauty of this studio. It's on the 4th floor of the historic Yardly building in Union City. It has a spacious loft feel with high ceilings, lots of windows and city skyline views of the Freedom Tower. It's the perfect space to inspire movement and feel empowered. Lastly, it's important to mention COVID precautions. Masks are recommended and most people wear them. The poles are set 6 feet apart and are wiped down with alcohol frequently throughout class. I always feel really safe there and appreciate the precautions taken. I feel like I'm just starting a long journey with pole dancing and I'm really happy to begin here with Lovely Lioness. I sincerely recommend giving this studio a try because I think you might fall in love with pole dancing and their community the same way that I have.

I came across this studio through ClassPass and it was a awesome experience. Note: there are two different poles that are practiced on (chrome and silicone). I've tried their Choreography with Beginner Pole and it was a super duper fun experience (silicone). I was quite nervous since I've never used a spinning pole or silicone and it was cool. A lot of twirling for the basic basic learners AND sooo worth it. Mary is sooo patient with each student and it's open level (Im pretty much beginner level lol) It's based inside a warehouse (I think), instructions are clear in getting there and it's not hard to miss since it's fully decked out from the outside and inside. (So classy, so sassy) I definitely recommend to those who are interested (it's hard deciding whether I like silicone or chrome now haha)

We stretched, conditioned, learned to get confident with our desire walks, a few tricks and the grand finale which was a combination of everything we learned and a chance to record our progress to a song of our choice. We're not new to the apparatus but it's been a while so we were happy to check out an intro class. It was very easy to sign up online. First intro class is only $25 for a 75 minute class. It was easy to check in upon arrival and we got a brief intro to the studio and where we needed to go. Rachel was a great instructor and lead us with a thorough warm up and introduction to the aerial hammock. Her cuing was immaculate and she was able to meet and honor each and every student at wherever they are, which was much appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate to return to take other classes here and may pop in again next time I'm in town.

So I booked With excitement. Unfortunately, I had a prior therapeutic appointment for my shoulder pain and was advised to not use my shoulder for the rest of the night. I walked to this establishment, as I wanted to see if it would be limited use of my shoulder and arrived 30 mins in advance of the class start time. I wanted let them know that I may not be able to take the class but was willing to try but needed some more info. The lady at the desk was SUPER rude and snarky stating that she didn't know and said she only took that class once. When I asked if I could possible come back tomorrow as I was in town for two more days, She then proceeded to tell me that I took a spot that could have been used and they don't allow that making sure I understood I wasted a space in that persons class. She eventually changed her mind and credited me after chastising me about taking a spot. Another WONDERFUL woman interjected and was so helpful. She taught one of the hoop classes. She was wonderful. I will WASTE that $25 after that experience and will not be back. There are to many places like this around and if they treat you like that as a NEW CLIENT, I could only imagine how they would treat you if you're a regular. Funny thing, I've owned my own boutique fitness studio in Westchester for the last 15 years and would NEVER treat a client/new client this way. People like this ruin a lot of good things, you never know what people are going through but professionalism is a virtue in a costumer based business.

We also cleaned our poles with the provided wipes and sprays. Tips: wear biker shorts and sports bra/tank, skin contact will help with the movements on the pole.

I started off as a Pole 1 student and have progressed to Pole 3, thanks to its diverse instructors. CandyCane hosts a lot of fun events such as their student showcases, bring a buddy nights, and professional photoshoots. Their prices are pretty affordable in comparison to other studios, which makes CandyCane a standout in NYC. What would take this studio to another level is making classes 1 hr 15 min. One hour classes are way too short, and if you consider the time it takes to warm up and cool down, it doesn't allow for much time to practice in between. There should also be a ~10 minute break in between classes to allow instructors and students to transition. The studio would also benefit from bringing back Pole 2 classes for those at the intermediate level. I'm personally an early bird so it'd be nice to have more pole 3/open level classes during the day time. This isn't a dealbreaker since some people enjoy evening sessions and it works with their availability. Overall, I've had a fun journey at CandyCane. Ron (the owner) is friendly and supportive. I look forward to seeing CandyCane continue to grow :-)

Whether you're brand new to salsa or have been dancing for years, this is the kind of place that makes you feel like you belong. The instructors are not only incredibly skilled in NY style salsa/mambo, but they also teach with passion, patience, and heart. Every class is structured, yet fun, and you walk away each time having learned more than just steps--you grow in confidence. Cache isn't just about learning how to dance... it's about discovering the dancer within you. It's a space that uplifts your emotional and mental well-being through movement, music, and connection. There's something incredibly powerful about moving your body, pushing past your comfort zone, and realizing just how much you're capable of. And the best part? The people. You meet others who are there not just to dance, but to enjoy life, make friends, and have a genuinely good time.
