This past November while riding through Jerome I was stopped and harassed by the local police department for failure to follow a traffic control device. Guess what? There was no traffic control device to follow. So after making it clear I would be fighting the ticket, they switch charges to unsafe passing on the left. Wrong again, the road was 3 lanes wide and a one way. Needless to say the crooked judge could not let me get away without a shakedown, so she invented a new charge, noise violation under Town of Jerome Municipal Code. Noise violations are completely arbitrary and without any measure of sound, it's preposterous to make such a charge. Needless to say $127 lighter in the wallet I suggest you DON'T support tourist shakedowns. (This is not the first/only shakedown I know of, just the only one that happened to me - standard line, "It's just a municipal code and there will be no points on your licence, just mail the $200 in.")

I go in to the Cottonwood AZ MVD Office with my Lien release from the bank signed and notarized and ask for a duplicate title and for some strange reason they tell me that they cannot help me that the bank has to release the lien. I explain that I have the lien release in my hand. I tell them the Bank is no longer in business. I'm told to contact bank and have them release the lien. I'm sure they heard me.... I've contacted the bank and they tell me to call MVD and tell them Lien was released and show them the copy of my Lien release. A one and a two!! We're just dancing now!! This is the definition of frustrating. What to do? What to do? I'll get names of MVD Associates and post soon. We stand in line for 25 to 30 minutes and then we get nowhere. Lucky they're getting one star!!

This is surprising since there is so much space, but perhaps the town of Jerome wants to make money off of paid parking spots. I was not parked long and I couldn't find the machine to pay as the lot was a dirt road, so I decided to wonder into some of the little shops and explore. Very quickly the police put a parking ticket on my car's windshield. I can't remember the exact issue but I think if I paid online quickly, the fine would be half of $25 which was the actual fine. When I was unable to do it online, I decided to call the police department, and I think I spoke to the assistant chief or someone who was very condescending and rude over the phone. It was almost as if he was trying to intimidate me by quickly and aggressively telling me that he had a high position in the department, and I found this to be immature and unprofessional. I had a bad experience with the police department. They should be helpful rather than getting annoyed when someone has a legitimate concern. They should be trained not to get defensive and rude, but to investigate and try to learn from different peoples' concerns.

We were able to park on the street for free, but there is also areas to pay for parking. We spent a few hours walling the town, going in and out of shops, galleries and wineries. Many of the buildings had plaques stating what the building was in the past. A nice way to learn about the history of the town. The views of the Sedona's Red Rock , Verde Valley and the San Francisco Peaks were beautiful. Worth spending a few hours visiting.

I won't lie the drive up and down the hill for me was a little stressful. I mean safe but you know if you're afraid of heights I do recommend going but just take your time. Go slow and certainly make sure you drive during the day and leave before sunset heading down the hill. I wish the railings were larger on some parts of the drive up and down the hill, but anyway enough of that. It really is an easy drive I don't want to scare you into not going, but I'm from the East Coast where everything is flat so for me it was a bit stressful lol. The main part of town is only about two or three blocks wide and then maybe I don't know five or six blocks long really fantastic little place! Make sure you hit all of the museums and in the downtown area as well, there were so much fun and learned so much about Jerome It was really easy to do in a half day. You probably only need a few hours in town, maybe two or three hours to walk around maybe add another hour on for a meal. We stopped in a pizzeria, which was absolutely delicious and we were in and out there in 30 minutes and we got to sit at a table in order. Absolutely fascinating place, you might want to start at the welcome center at the very top of the hill to understand the history of the town and to see a three-dimensional model of the entire town before actually heading into the town and parking. You might want to get there a little on the earlier side of the day too, so you could get a parking spot I mean, we had no trouble. We parked in the area around the sliding jail. You might want to look and understand where there's parking before you go, but other than that, you probably could find a spot pretty easy. There are two main streets in the town where many of the buildings have a plaque outside and describe what the building used to be used for back in the old West days. I love just walking along the street, stopping at every historic home and reading about it. I had a great time here! It really made a wonderful trip out to Sedona even better! Highly recommended for a side trip while staying in Sedona, I would travel during the light hours of the day as you will be driving up and down a hillside.

A nice little history museum about Jerome…read more We popped in here while in town to have lunch. The history museum occupies the back 2/3 of this building. The front 1/3 houses a gift shop of many art pieces etc. There was a $2 pp fee to go back to the museum section. We found the artifacts, plaques and more to be quite informative on why Jerome exists and what it was all about in its heyday of mostly copper mining. If you're in Jerome and want to take a deep dive into its history, this stop is a must.
