Where do I even begin? It's 10:55 PM EST on a Thursday night. I'm at home, watching TV, but…read morestarting to doze off. Suddenly, I notice bright, flashing lights outside. My first thought? What in the world is happening? For a brief moment, I wondered if a spaceship had landed in my driveway and I was in some kind of dream. But then reality hit--it was the police. My heart immediately sank. A late-night visit from law enforcement is rarely good news. The first thing I did was check on my family. As I stepped outside to speak with the officer, he informed me that he had received a call from a police department in Massachusetts. That's when my heart dropped--our daughter lives there. The officers wanted to let us know they had found her wallet. While that news was concerning, I initially assumed she had just lost it. However, when I mentioned that she was flying to France the next evening for a study abroad program, it became clear just how important this was--her credit cards, ID, and everything she needed to board the plane were inside that wallet. This review is simply to say thank you to the Malden Police Department and Officer Wade, who found her wallet and was on shift until 11 PM. I also want to thank the Monongahela, Pennsylvania police officer who came to notify us. Both departments acted so quickly, and because of their swift efforts, my daughter was able to travel as planned. Thank you for what you do--you truly made a difference for our family.

CMU should stand for Community Massively Underwhelmed. I've heard stories about this police force…read morefrom students at CMU, which were overwhelmingly negative. My personal experience with them is really just being stalked through the streets and being pulled over twice, once on campus and once just off campus. I'm not sure if my crime was having an out-of-state plate, or a run down car, or being out late at night, but it did feel like harrassment. Being asked masses of questions, pressured to admit I'd been drinking (I haven't), told that I was swerving (I wasn't), and then after several minutes of badgering and checking all my papers, them letting me go in a frustrated manner since there weren't any tickets they could write for me. I will give them a 2 instead of a 1, because at least they didn't give me some made-up trumped-up bogus ticket to deal with, which other cops in other places have done a couple of times. Seriously, some of the run-ins I've had with the police have been so crazy, that you "Can't Make Up" anything crazier even if you try.

Of all times I had used the ev charger the security decided to stalk & harrass me away when my car…read morewas on 2 bars (nissan leaf) & in 15° weather Monday January 9th 2017. I came back & plugged in due to a lack of other stations available in a 3 mile radius to avoid stalling, the old man in round spectacles called police on me without even considering several (3 )empty/unoccupied spaces. I calmly explained to police that these cars can shut down entirely at such a low charge in cold weather & asked if there were other options available nearby I could use at the moment. The officer hatefully replied "no"., without any concern of my existance whatsoever, or at least attempting to assist in helping my situation... I felt disqusted, nearly projectile vomiting directly on him but held it in, he condescendingly referred to the lot "paid for & off limits unless you have permit and are a student". Disregarding the momentary predicament, the officer rushed me and said I'd be ticketed and towed if ever seen again. He asked if I studied there & if I knew faculty or students, I do know both I said with no details. I'll repeat, he did not suggest alternatives other than go home and charge up after looking at my lyft driver decals and frowning. I don't have a house, and I mentioned that prior to him saying that; I only use 12 gauge extention cord if I can make it back to my apartment first. My point overall, the guy was useless unless something catastrophic took place, he had no concern whatsoever about my safety, and did not / could not help me in my temprary moment of distress. I feel lucky to have been sitting in my car at the time writing on my laptop, & also lucky the bmw dealership had a free charge available to public accessible just under a mile away. These men were determined to get me in an impossible predicament, teaming/planning on me failing, cowardice with no exposure to public since the garage is hidden away. I'd take their jobs if the position ever presented itself, I've surely applied for art related jobs or simple stuff like skibo deli numerous times before. I had originally held respect for the campus, considered applying for MAM program or MFA even. I am now disgusted, they appear desperate and lacking the resources to be competitive as a 21st century, diverse, mind over matter campus. l feel blessed not to have contributed even a spec of my genius or work ethic within this institution. I try not to mention the officers in plural since this was a 1st time occurence; they never bothered me when stations were above ground in view of public and signs said accessible. This speaks to me as a privilege taken away, everyone should have the choice to be cleaner & improve their environment in every aspect of their lives. To limit this to only paying students is one thing, to treat me in this manner is pivotal in creating a movement against capitalist, against our choice not to degrade a place we reside in being restricted. CMU should be at the forefront of this steel city's turnaround to making use of alternatives to steel & clean energy. It appears based on this experience to be a private business to me as of now, until the integrity reappears and retakes its claim, these will be repetitive of an old Pittsburgh, with no new opportunities to be significant in a major way like wearing hand me down work clothes with the inner fear of starting from scratch.
