I want to express that I have always taken driving laws seriously and have maintained a clean driving record since becoming licensed. This incident was both unexpected and confusing for several reasons that I hope you will take into consideration. On that day, I had my cruise control set at 49 mph. Based on the posted speed limits in that area -- which change quickly from 55 mph to 35 mph -- I was in the process of going up the hill but also trying to slow down because of the quick speed change. The officer stated that I was going 51 mph, which neither my dashboard nor cruise control registered. I was also not familiar with how rapidly the speed limit shifted, as I am very conscious of driving legally. I was respectful and calm during the stop, though I was emotionally and physically unwell that day. That morning, a very close friend to me had passed, and she had been awaiting a liver transplant -- which was something extremely personal to me as a kidney transplant recipient. Additionally, I had just returned from a draining treatment in Cleveland. Despite explaining this, I was met with a noticeably harsh tone from the officer, who lectured me at length and treated me dismissively when I asked clarifying questions. His closing remark -- "Well, I hope you have a better night now" -- felt sarcastic and added to my emotional distress. After paying the fine promptly, I learned from a friend with a criminal justice background that the ticket contained an error. I was somehow listed as both the driver and passenger, which was factually incorrect. The officer's signature was illegible, and the information about how to proceed with a "waivable" offense was not only unclear but also misleading. The term waivable was not explained to me correctly, as the perspective I was getting was it would be taken care of and off my record. My friend had also told me that I should have asked to see the meter as what it locked me at, since it was completely unaware that I was going that fast. As a young adult who takes driving seriously and had no prior infractions, I feel I was treated unfairly and given little opportunity to understand or correct what was happening. I respectfully request that my situation be reviewed, and I hope this account helps provide context behind why I am concerned about how the citation and interaction were handled. You hear negative cop stories all the time, and I feel this publicity is unfounded for most. Some cops may be crooked, but a large percentage are just doing their job; and doing it well. These officers sacrifice themselves on a daily basis for us, and I feel that their sacrifice should not go unnoticed!

This NE OH destination has come a long way since the days of the University uprisings, and is , but still one of my fave towns in Ohio. There are several good bubble tea shops here and places to eat, and lots of little gems to be unearthed around the town. It also has some of the cheapest petrol anywhere in the North East USA.
