My husband and I have talked for years about coming here, and the timing finally worked out! Ambiance was charming, service was great, and the food reminded me of my Polish babcia's kitchen. My husband had the chicken noodle soup and a half Reuben sandwich absolutely stuffed. He raved about all of it! (And he's Irish.) I had a golumbek (singular) and wonderful rye bread. Yum! read more

The Dill Pickle soup was a perfect way to start out with on this cold snowy day. Had some Kielbasa Sausage with sauerkraut and mustard, and it was fantastic. Rye bread had great flavor as well. Everything is wonderful - Far Better than the famous Polish spot up in Cross Village. And I'm Polish, born in Hamtramck, lol! The golobki is just like my Mom used to make. Kielbasa could be a tiny bit spicier, pierogi could have a tiny bit thinner dough, but the fillings were excellent. Without a doubt, however the highlight here is the Zurek - Polish "whatever is in the kitchen pantry" soup. I could eat theirs every day. Don't be mislead by their strip mall spot. Very friendly owners & servers too! read more

This place is great! Atmosphere is a normal restaurant. Clean, nothing fancy. But the food! Best Polish food I have had. Everything is well prepared and delicious. Best to call ahead since it tends to be busy in its limited hours. It's only open for lunch sadly, but the owner has kids and trouble getting a babysitter. The service is friendly enough, but this place is all about the food. Potato pancakes are so fire! Pierogi sampler is absolutely awesome. Never had a bad meal here. read more

I had a rough visit at the dentist nearby and was wanting to grab some food before heading home. I've always loved pierogis, so to find this shop so close was a delight! I was able to find the menu easily online, and when I walked in I found a few tables with older folks sitting inside. The shelves were decorated with the old olive and pepper jars from the 90s but gave an interesting European vibe to the place. I went to the front counter where the young man told me I could take a seat with a menu if needed but to order at the counter when ready. I ordered six potato cheddar pierogis with hot sauce and a drink, got the drink from the fountain and waited maybe a few minutes top for my food to arrive. These were so soft and tender with such a smooth filling, but still had a really nice crisp. A butter onion and bacon sauce adorned the top, a delightful mix with the Chalula provided to me. Upon leaving, I let the guy know that I could never go back to the frozen Mrs. Ts variety after trying theirs, and he laughed and said that's how they stay in business! When I let him know I wasn't local, he informed me that they sell them by the dozen in a variety of flavors. Naturally, I took two dozen home and they survived the car ride an hour and a half back north! Couldn't have been happier with this experience and I can't wait to go back to the dentist solely so I can stop here again. Great service, phenomenal food, and pre-pandemic pricing. Take me back to Poland with this meal. We enjoyed fast and friendly service on a Thursday afternoon. And took everything to go (that's the only option) and ate outside on the picnic tables. It was a very enjoyable experience. Everything we had was delicious here is what we had: Goulash with potato pancakes, good different than what I have had before but tasty. Pierogis of all kinds were the best we have ever had. So filling for 3 of us we got 12 and shared. If I get an opportunity to come back I would get these again!! Stuffed cabbage was surprisingly super tasty with a tomato base and yummy potato dumplings on the side. I could eat a whole plate of the dumplings-so good! read more

We got takeout from this cute little restaurant back during our stay in late October during Covid. The food was amazing and we spent a few weeks in Eastern Europe (including Poland) a couple of years ago. The food was ready to go at the time it was ordered and the prices were really reasonable. Our group tried the schnitzel, the mixed pierogis, the borscht, the bigos/hunters stew, and the Rueben and it was all fantastic. The bigos and borscht were especially tasty and the Rueben was massive and delicious. I would certainly come back here and recommend to anyone. I should have ordered the apple cake but will just need to come back to try more. read more

The ambiance is NIL but the FOOD is fantastic, great value, as good as the Legs Inn (tho everyone should visit there once). We always get the sampler platter (each) and am always too full to try the crepes. The potato and potato cheese pierogi are comfort food heaven, as are the glompke (sp?). Love the Polish Kitchen! Worth the almost 2 hour drive every time! Pierogis, potato pancakes, stuffed cabbage, Bigos (hunter's stew) and apple cake dessert are delicious. Try the Sampler or King's Feast platter, just leave room for dessert. Authentic and made from scratch, this is a hidden gem of an ethnic restaurant in an area where this type of restaurant is hard to find. Bring a cooler and take some frozen pierogis home with you, we usually do. It is a clean and spacious place, with tables for small or large groups. Wish we had this place a lot closer to home. read more

After Spending an year in Poland no way that you can't like polish food. Scouting yelp for good lunch place in petoskey on our return from Tunnel of Trees( fall colors) and this placed popped up with great reviews. Been here around 2pm and this place is still bustling with lot of people and decent line of people waiting for table as they don't show you a table. Just grab a table once you see its free. Ordered Polish platter that comes with Sausage, pierogi ,saukerket and one order of cabbage rolled meat and croquet and some other dish which costed us $30 with 2 drinks . Everything was amazing and tasty and definitely makes you crave for more. We had a wonderful meal here yesterday. Husband had Wiener schnitzel, and Wife had the king sampler platter so we could trade flavors. And trade we did! The food was absolutely delicious and very generous. A shout out to the Weiner schnitzel and the pierogies, especially. The stuffed cabbage, wonderful, too. The hunters stew was good and we have enough food left over that we will be able to enjoy this flavor again. Being Eastern European myself I'll be either the toughest critic of food or really biased in a good way... Anyway, stopped there for lunch on my way to Mackinaw City and couldn't be happier. Ordered some pork pierogis and double potato latkes (draniki / deruny) and everything was delicious. I especially appreciate all the extra sour cream that was offered to me, but it was enough. They brought food very quickly and even picked up empty plates although I was going to dispose them myself per their rules. Keep in mind ordering happens at the register. Excellent polish food. All the food we got was good, we ate outside, since the inside was closed. I said that I would love to just try the borscht (mainly telling my bro-in-law) and the owner asked if I wanted a sample (which I couldn't refuse) He came out with a whole cup. Really good borscht, such an authentic flavor and I lived in Russia for 5 years. We decided to open a second location in downtown Petoskey, as we know from experience that not a lot of people have the time to drive out to Harbor Springs, to visit our other location.

I heard about Crooked Tree Breadworks on a recent trip to Petoskey and dropped by on my last day in…read morethe area. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to visit until near the end of the day and at that point they had sold out of most of their items, including the famous pepper parmesan rolls. They still had a few items left and we decided to pick up two of them. Kouign Amann ($4.95) - The caramelization of the sugar on this pastry is on point. The bottom has a layer of sugar that has melted into a glaze with extreme caramelization, almost on the verge of being burnt. If it had been left in the oven for a few moments more, it would probably have started to develop an acrid taste. Luckily, it was pulled out at just the right time. Even the sides of this pastry have been graced with sweetness and a top layer of thicker sugar crystals/grains adds an amazing crunch. While the kouign amann may not have as many thin laminated layers as a croissant, there is still an excellent buttery interior which helps balance the outside sweetness. The interior is fluffy and layered well into an even honey comb pattern. This kouign amann exceeded my expectations. (5/5) 3:00 O'clock Baguette ($5.90) - Yikes, this is by far the most expensive baguette I've ever bought. I was kind of dreading it when I first felt the baguette through the bag - it seemed a bit soft and limpy. When I tore into it soon afterwards, I found my concerns to be somewhat unfounded. By somewhat I mean that yes, there is hardly a crust on the baguette, but the interior still exhibits a nice chew and the flavor is very well developed. It's a decent baguette, but nothing outstanding. Perhaps the crust would be better earlier in the day when fresh baked? (4/5) I was definitely surprised by the quality of the baked goods at Crooked Tree Breadworks. I'll have to revisit earlier in the day on my next visit to the area so I can try more of their breads and pastries.
