I was on the fence about Brutus Camp Deli until we sat down and got our menus. Small variety to choose from but everything sounded delicious. I started with the Smoked Brisket Hash 2 eggs, smoked pulled beef brisket, redskin potatoes, sweet onions, and toast. Savory, delicious, smoked meat and potatoes. The egg drizzled over everything and added to the richness. I could eat this every day! I also got the BCD Cakes as a desert. 3 extra large cakes, Michigan maple syrup, whipped butter and a sprinkling of powder sugar. Rich, thick, and sweet pancakes. They were the perfect pairing to my savory meal, however it was way too much food for one person. Their portions are large and you will not be leaving hungry. A few more things to note is that the deli has a rustic cabin themed. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive to the table. Great! Everything is fresh, or homemade. Wherever they get their eggs, they're way better than what i can get my hands on, same with the sausage and bacon. The redt of the family raved about the pancakes and waffles. The corned beef hash was a solid two thumbs up from my son. Between Alanson and Pellston, MI on U.S.-31 in lower Norther Michigan is this inconspicuous gem! Unless you have been here, you might drive by not realizing you just passed one of the best breakfast/brunch spots around. The building is small and unassuming. Bring your appetites because portions are very generous. Today I had the corned beef hash with red skin potatoes, onion and 2 eggs served with camp toast. All the flavors were amazing, the corn beef was tender, lean and the combination of flavors were very good, probably one of the best corn beef hash dishes I have ever had. My wife had the Iron skillet scramble with 2 eggs, sausage, american fries, cheese and it also came with camp toast and fresh raspberry preserves. And of course what breakfast is complete without cinnamon rolls. :) We highly recommend the cinamini's served in a small iron skillet with bourbon vanilla cream cheese glaze. I have been coming to brutus camp deli for many years and had never had a bad meal today was different, my son and I ordered the Belgium waffle with chicken, I was embarrassed to say the least, we got a hotel make it yourself quality waffle and it came with 3 tyson style kids chicken nuggets far from the chicken and waffles you would expect from a quality restaurant, my girl friend ordered the monte cristo sandwich and it looked amazing but was so undercooked the deli meat in the sandwich was still refrigerator cold, 70 dollars later I wont return. read more

The food was for the most part good but some of our food was cold and burnt which I understand busy times are difficult. But in all consideration the service was absolutely some of the worst and most inconsiderate group of waitresses and waiter I have ever experienced. We had a group of 6 and we were split up with two tables and weren't aloud to put them together... so we moved to a table we could all sit at and another group came behind us and put those tables together and instead of being told to put them back or that they could not do that, they got served with better care and quicker service than us which was absolutely unexceptionable due to the hour we had to wait for our food and the 20 minutes they had to wait for there food. This place is awful. Stopped in for breakfast. Ordered a three-egg breakfast. Way over-priced at $16 considering the poor quality. My over-medium eggs were mediocre at best. The breakfast potatoes were sliced and cooked, but 50% of them were burnt. Not good. The bacon was average. What they are calling breakfast sausages remains a mystery. I wish I had taken a picture of them. They resemble the color of Vienna sausages in a can. When I cut into one, a disgusting, clear liquid spouted out. Chewy and gross. I offered my friend one in jest and we had a good laugh. The wheat toast was stale and not buttered. I guess they expect you to butter it yourself, which is odd for a place serving breakfast. One of the worst breakfasts I have ever eaten. If I could give it a zero, I would. I will not return. Save yourselves from wasting your money! read more

My family and I usually come to the Camp Deli for breakfast 5-6 times a year, whenever we're vacationing nearby. It's always a favorite stop. Servings are large, so be prepared. I usually skip lunch after I've eaten there! Everything is freshly made or procured locally and it really makes the difference. It's not fancy food, just delicious. I honestly can't think of anything we've been served that disappointed in the least. I can't comment on the lunch items (never had 'em!) but I'd be shocked if they disappointed, either. Negatives? When there's a wait it can be awkward as there's no area inside set aside for it and no 'hostess' waiting to take your name. Do everyone a favor, though: don't be rude and take a table without checking with a waitress first. I'd also assume some would be turned off by the 'huntin' lodge' theme inside and it's mismatched furniture (me, I think it's part of the charm). My husband ordered the cinnamon French toast with eggs and sausage patties. These were the best sausage patties I have ever had in my life. I had the blueberry pancakes even though I don't really like pancakes but the reviews indicated this is what I should order. The reviews were right. Best pancakes ever.
