Hardest review I have ever written. We were thrilled to try this place, and horribly let down by the experience, specifically by the server. The good - the atmosphere is great, the vibe pretty accurately replicating a French bistro. The food (what we did get) was good. Steak frites was awesome. The bad - never has a server failed so miserably. How? 1. Brought the wrong wine, then lied by insisting the house red was in fact a Côtes du Rhône. 2. Forgot two soups, delivered our entrees, said the soups were "coming" and reported "almost here" when we were half done with dinner. 3. Wrong dressing delivered on the salad, then delivered a different dressing with the request for extra. 4. The topper - the manager's comp dessert was either wrong or the pastry chef has never seen a real Basque Cheesecake. The manager was appreciative for the feedback, but the "fix" was to not make us pay for the wine that was wrong or the soup that never came. Not exactly the experience that will make us rush back. I know that staffing "up north" is tough, but this place was full of servers who appeared well in control and efficient. We drew the very short straw. Eat here at your own peril. read more

We came here after checking out the Skybridge at the Boyne Mountain. Had an overall decent experience here with everything. I'll be honest I've never had a Chicken Marsala before (NOT Masala if you missed that "r" in there too). It turned out to be an interesting one for me. Good balance of sweet and sour against the creaminess and the earthy fragrance of the mushrooms. The chicken breast was very tender. The broccoli, though, was tough to chew, and the fettuccine was a bit bland for my taste. I wish the pasta had caught more of the sauce. The Sweet & Spicy pizza was the highlight. Our server told us the wood-fired pizzas are their biggest hit, and I see why. Every bite brought a different note of heat and sweetness. Highly recommend. We also had the Sangria Blanc and the escargot, neither of which was very memorable. The escargot didn't taste like much beyond garlic butter, though that butter turned out to be a great excuse to work through the free bread. read more

The restaurant is lovely, feels like a restaurant in Paris. Food was great, at least what we ordered & actually received. The problem was with our server. First she brought the wrong wine & insisted it was the wine we ordered, it was not. The soups we ordered, never arrived, the order was not put in. Our entrees arrived & our server then tells us soups are almost out. Wrong salad dressing was brought out for my husband's salad entree, twice. My steak & frites were delicious. We heard great things about Sante and tried to eat there for brunch today. We arrived at 11 got our name in and was told it would be 30 minutes. We are with two young kids under the age of five but decided 30 minutes was OK. After our time was missed more than once, we were told that ultimately our wait would be over an hour from our starting point. After speaking with a unresponsive manager, all we could get was oh we can't make people get up. They're not leaving. Obviously, this is always a possibility to an extent, but don't tell people a time and then have a go over twice what you told them. And that's assuming that we would've even gotten in based on the last time they told. Extremely disappointing customer service would never go back to this place again read more

Cafe Santé is one place we visited on repeat during our recent stay in Boyne City. Our first night there was fantastic. Our server, Mark, was really attentive and friendly. The menu had a great amount of variety and the wine list offered some really unique tastes from around the world. I enjoyed the tuna steak for dinner and would recommend it. Kiddo loved the bread and butter that came with the meal. Our second experience still had great food, with the pork chop being my choice and one I would order again. We had a different server that night and he was MIA for more than half the meal. When he came back he asked if we wanted to-go cups for our beverages as he brought the check at the same time. Otherwise it was stellar all around. Would definitely recommend grabbing dinner here while you're in the area! read more

A friend had recommended this spot a while back and I'm glad I saved it. We were near by visiting the Skybridge and decide to get some dinner. I am so glad we came here. Our server Todd was really great! He answered all our questions and was attentive. It was a Saturday evening when we came in and they have live music. We did have about a 1/2 hour wait, as expected, but it was SO worth it! All of our food was phenomenal! Came for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed their patio! (This was during the middle of July!) I had a shrimp & spinach salad, my husband had steak frites, and our kids had pasta marinara with garlic bread. All was thoroughly enjoyable with a lovely view of the water. Service was friendly, but just a bit slow...considering we were in an off hour (maybe around 2:30pm?) and there was a lull in the restaurant. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Boyne city. This time I had a mushroom pasta dish with asparagus and the most delicious sauce. I'm sad. I didn't take a picture of the menu. Hubby had a delicious quiche. I always loved the delicious bread that they give us to start. We also washed it down with yummy bloody Mary's. I love the French ambience and all the old world style. The location by the water is just perfect. The service was good. Unfortunately, we were seated kind of close to the bathroom( down a long hallway), so there was a lot of coming and going by our table. It was noticeable, but not too bothersome. This was wonderful. Food is great, Onion Soup was the best but their shrimp was also perfect. Our server Sora was very attentive and perfect with her recommendations. We had the crape with chocolate dessert. ( Don't remember the name) and was so sorry, we bought it to share. Won't be making that mistake again. First, let's start with Todd! What a fine job of connecting with us and suggesting menu items we enjoyed. The way in which he coaxed our individual tastes made the experience feel as if we were the only ones there. Good job! Food: well the shrimp appetizer salad and French onion soup were so tasty they didn't get shared. I think that says it all but wait, then there was the salmon with beluga lentils. The olive tapenade was the right balance of salty and savory for the Scottish salmon. Ambiance: the snow mound is gone and the lake can be seen again. We had breakfast at Cafe Santé on a dreary weekday morning . Our greeter was cheery and seated us at a comfortable booth with a great view of the water. Katie, our server, was wonderful with warm enthusiasm. We enjoyed the sparkling water--you get a choice of still or sparkling. The coffee was also great. I had the Americano--the bacon and eggs were perfectly cooked --bacon was smoked in house. There was jam and ketchup also made in house. My husband had the eggs Benedict, which were amazing. Cafe Sante is so unique and it's right in the heart of Boyne City. It uniqueness comes due to its very European feel. They do a great job of ambiance and seriously I totally felt like Europe had come to the North Michigan. From the decor, signage, to an old feel of this has been here for centuries, they nailed it on atmosphere. They have a gorgeous outdoor patio for those amazing summer nights. We were able to take advantage of their Monday night pizza special which is not available in the summer, but it doesn't matter their pizza is just as good as full price. They have amazing other great menu items, but they do their pepperoni pizza well, it will not disappoint. You'll love Cafe Sante it has such a hip vibe and has music on certain nights, which is always a nice touch. This is for sure one of the best restaurants in Boyne City, it's awesome read more

We stopped at Cafe Sante for a late lunch on our way into Boyne Mountain. Service and food were both 10/10. We enjoyed a few happy hour drinks as well. We had the meatball appetizer to start and the marinara sauce so so fresh and flavorful, we ended up dipping the bread in the sauce too! For our entrees we had the chicken Marsala and steak frites. I really enjoyed the Marsala sauce and ended up mixing my noodles and veggies in it. Both meals very delicious and the steak was cooked to my husbands liking. It was a beautiful Labor Day Weekend day, our party of 4 was seated outside on the patio overlooking the water.... Our food was a decent portion, I don't remember much of the details now unfortunately except that my quiche and fresh berries were REALLYYYYYY GOOD! If you look at the photo, you can tell how perfectly the quiche is cooked and the berries are super fresh! The 2 items looked great and they tasted even better! So no complaints, a great view, anything by the water is a winner! I do recall our server being very friendly and attentive...and I remember we did have quite a few questions, she was also very patient! Definitely would recommend to anyone in the area. This cleverly carved out waterfront café brings a taste of Europe to Northern Michigan. French, Italian and a wee bit of the Irish all in one bistro. It's a comfortable little niche' that's tastefully decorated fora harbor town that's a sure pleasure to visit. A little old world brought forward. The food is divine. Starting with the Duck French Onion soup. A diplomatic portion with an equally generous amount of Gruyère. The chunks of French bread complete this triumph! The combined creamy goodness and the sweet/spice of the Butternut Squash Bisque make it another winning start. The Chicken Marsala is a true triumph as well as the simple French dip sandwich. Our server, John, tells us it's made with bacon smoked pastrami. A definite must. If Tiramisù is offered, I'm obliging. This dish featured well saturated lady fingers with a mild, fluffy cream that provided a perfect balance. Not too rich, most certainly not bland. The service was friendly and professional. The atmosphere was romantic but not stuffy. The food!!! Top notch. We had the whitefish and a couple of pasta dishes. The meatballs were tasty and the sauce was slightly sweet but really good tomato flavor. Good bread soaker Now the whitefish. I tend to only eat half my dinners but here I cleaned my plate. This fish was flavorful and melted in your mouth, prepared with lemon butter and served with dauphinois potato. Wow. This place absolutely blew my socks off. From the outside, you really wouldn't expect this kind of dining experience, especially in Boyne City, but the minute I had my first bite of brunch. I was so so insanely happy with my food. I was eating by myself, and my waiter was very friendly and helpful. My friends were off skiing for the day, but my knee wasn't in the mood for another full-day. So I set off to wander Boyne City on my own. Honestly? My skiing friends missed out. Also I missed out on them ordering different things so I could sneak bites of their plates because I would be so so excited to try everything this place has to offer. I ordered the sausage breakfast, and you could just taste how freshly it had been made. The scrambled eggs were perfect. The potatoes melted in your mouth. You knew this was made with love. Not at all what I was expecting in such a great way! We were looking for a brunch spot but this didn't seem like the usually place you'd have brunch. The decor was old Italian style and very clean. The hostess and waiter were very nice, helpful and efficient. The food was the best part! We had the pistachio pancakes, arugula pizza, French onion soup and classic American breakfast. Everything was delicious! Nothing was too salty or bland. My favorite was the French onion soup. I was so surprised with how well the food tasted! This a review of their breakfast when they first open: Great atmosphere and service. However the menu is both limited and tired, it hasn't changed in years. The herbed potatoes are a mediocre potato dish for breakfast, with no alternatives such as hash browns. Besides the potatoes, the food is very good such as Plath's meats. However I don't go as much anymore because they serve the same ol' thing year after year. If you're a newbie, you should love it except the potatoes. But if you're a regular Boyne City breakfast diner, then please think about us and update your menu! I'm very disappointed they don't keep their 'hours open' accurate on Google. However Google warns you they're not updating their hours on the holidays. In this case they were closed on Labor Day '25, so I tried Sunnyside down the street and had a superior breakfast experience than I can get at Cafe Sante. read more

Kids perspective- Has root beer I got a kids hot cocoa and it was very good I finished it in about 6 minutes. It wasn't HOT but it wasn't cold. We ordered a Meat & Cheese board, it was pretty good.
