I've been a loyal customer of Grand Nails for over 20 years, but I was shocked to learn that the business was sold again. When I walked in, I immediately noticed changes inside with new equipment and flooring, and things only got more surprising at checkout. My deluxe pedicure price jumped from $47 to $55, and the owner never mentioned this when I made the appointment. To make matters worse, there were no price lists posted anywhere in the store. You shoud also be aware the new owner also charges a convience fee that is not listed anywhere nor disclosed which is illegal. On top of that, the foot bowls were far too small, making it uncomfortable for people with larger feet, like mine (size 11). When I brought up my concerns about the price increase and the lack of transparency, the owner just ignored me. Be cautious with the new owner - something about this lack of transparency with the pricing is a bit sketchy. The new owner has a lot to learn with his deceptive practices! As a side note my tech Gwen has always been amazing so my review is no reflection of her. read more

A friend of mine recommended this place for me since she has been going there for 25 years. I went to her lady, Vicky and Vicky was wonderful. I felt comfortable in the space, it didn't feel cramped while there was people in there but super spacious place. Vicky was very pleasant and I enjoyed her. The place is face mask optional and they do serve wine too which I like that as well. I declined to have a glass this time but will do next time. I'm very basic when it comes to nails(short, square and nude colors only) so she definitely did what I asked and I love my nails. Second time coming here and can honestly say i will not be coming back. From the moment you walk in there is poor communication and second time i have sat in the chair and in the middle of getting my nails done have been told by the gentleman that sits up front that my nail technician will not have time to do my nail design I requested and that i should have told him i wanted a design before sitting... which i did. I said i didnt mind waiting till someone else finished to get my design done this time and he said that was not possible... i requested a french nail design. He said most of the technicians dont know how to do designs like that... are you kidding. A french nail design is the basics i would assume? Call me crazy but thats just a poor excuse for poor scheduling on their part which i was willing to look past and wait to get the design i wanted. When something like that happens twice its just a sign that customer service is not their forte. Sadly ill need to look for a new nail spot but glad i came here to give you all an honest review... dont come here with any photos of ideas of nail designs because youll get tricked into sitting in their chair and rushed out saying they have no time. I came last night to fix a dip manicure and requested not to see the technician I saw the prior visit (she made my nails way too thin and there was a giant bubble in my pinky and her tool malfunctioned TWICE and broke any length my thumb nail had started with...) I wanted to see Vickie but she's usually busy with appointments, which is fine, she told me Kim would take great care of me....at 6:11pm I asked if I should come back as I needed to be at a game I was playing in at 7:15 and had already been here 40 mins. She assured me no. I left at 7 and was of course late, which would've been fine had it not been the worst experience I've ever had. 3 nail beds were bleeding and even more stinging. She attempted to stop the bleeding and it hurt even more. You can see the scabs on my THREE nails, there's what looks like DIRT that dried in my nails that clearly weren't dry enough before I left After last night I don't want to even get my nails done ever again, it was that bad. It's unfortunate my review can't be better because the establishment is very nice and I have had good service done before, but most of those technicians are no longer employed here. read more

This the most unprofessional establishment that I've ever been to! They have sign on the door that says that they close at 7 pm! I pulled up at 6:24! I get it! Everyone wants to go home but turning away a customer 40 mins before you close is ridiculous! To add insult to injury this would have been my 3rd time going! And I tip 40%! I told the lady who I talked to to change the sign on the door! If you want to drop serving custermers at 6 or 6:20 put that as your business hours! I've been in customer service for 10 years! I was a regular here but the quality is going down. Got my gel done and paint started chipping the third day. When I went back to show them, they did not offer to fix it instead talk to each other in foreign language making me feel super awkward. So I decided to pay them to fix their bad job! Overall, bad experience. Won't be going there again. P.S picture from 6th day. You might not be able to see cracks on third & fourth finger nail but they were there. my first time coming here. Very clean and nice, front staff was pleasant. Had a very good pedicure technically, but it was very odd. The man that did it never said a word to me, not hi or thank you at the end, nothing. It was almost like he didn't even acknowledge there was a person attached to the feet! I definately don't want chit chat or anything, but even a smile and nod would be nice. At the end, he literally packed up his cart and just walked off. I sat for a bit thinking maybe he was going to come back. Nope. Finally, feeling kind of stupid, I got out of the chair and went up front and paid. Recently had dip nails done & pedicure. The end results were satisfactory but the nail technician was extremely rude. I understand not everyone wants to chat but to blatantly refuse to respond to a question or comment is just wrong. I also understand that a language barrier may exist but I kept my questions/comments very simple. All he wanted to do was tell me to "relax" my fingers. I explained that I had arthritis in my hands & I was doing the best I could. In all of the years I've had my nails done, I have never been told to relax. He then "ordered" me to watch TV & to stop watching him! After that insult he hit the plexiglass barrier between us & knocked my phone to the floor. Accident? Who knows? I came here with my fiancé to get a pedicure. The nail techs were nice, and we didn't have to wait long, despite being a walk-in. Beware of the chemical fumes in the place. They are loud!!!!! the owners usually have the doors open, or an air purifier on. I enjoyed my pedicure, and was especially pleased with the hot towel treatment. One tech even took what looked like a cheese grater to the crunchy looking calluses on my fiancé's feet. Yes! I know there are cheaper pedicures to be had in Gainesville, but the folks at grand nails do a pretty good job. read more

My first visit here was great. My second, not so much. My pedicure was great, but a different person had to do my manicure. I had a full set done for a wedding. The lady didn't shape my nails how I asked, then she put so much acrylic on them that my hands were hurting from the dried and poorly shaped acrylic cutting into the sides of my fingers. When I asked her to file the sides down she said I asked for them to be that way and I should have told her before she did it. It took her 3+ hours to shape them how she wanted and then she refused to put designs on them like I asked saying she didn't have time. Her poor service just lost them a customer. I had an awful experience here. I made an appointment to get my nails done before a cruise. When I arrived the technician who I had an appointment with had to leave unexpectedly so i was assigned to another technician-Julie. She seemed in a rush the entire time and not happy to have to take the time to do french tips. When I left my nails and the top coat felt very sticky. Needless to say, due to her rushing and not doing the appropriate technique, the manicure lasted about 2 days before it started wearing off and turning black. I was already on the cruise at this time and had to pay to use the salon there just so they could take the sticky and black mess off of my fingers. When I arrived back in town I went back to the salon to see if it could be redone at no or reduced cost and I was treated SO rudely by Julie. Awful customer service.There are too many nail salons around to choose from for customer service to be so POOR-never getting my business or my friends business ever again. BEWARE. read more

It is clear that Vicki and Ray along with their staff have a dedicated clientele that comes for their quality work.
