Right, before my puppies grooming appointment I drive to Polished Pet to check it out! It was the cutest pet store with a unique line of dresses, collars, and doggy accessories. Diane took care of us while we shopped, she was very nice and helpful. She went as far as offering a bow for my Penny and the groomer in the back come out and teach me how to put it on. Talk about going above and beyond. It was a great experience with a friendly staff, Penny and I look forward to coming back. Thank you, all for your professionalism and great customer service. I had called ahead to use their services and to establish pricing and an appointment. I thought they were certainly higher priced than other groomers, but since they were near my new location I thought it would be convenient. I thought I was getting my dog a bath, nail reduction (with dremel tool) and gland expression (which cost 10 dollars more) out the door for about $50. Again, more than I had usually found for the basics. To my surprise, when I went to check out they decided to charge me over $20 for additional brushing they had to do for heavy shedding. Ugh, folks, I've gone to groomers with this dog for the last 8 years, in two counties, and never had someone throw that one at me as not being part of the bathing process, especially since we already had an agreed upon price for Polished Pups services. I have no complaint about their work; however, having been a contractor for 40 years, before I retired, I know you don't switch prices on a client at the end of a job...especially with no warning or discussion before you throw a new charge at them. I won't return to this business, not because of poor work, but because of poor business practices. I was just glad to get out the door with my dog and leave Polished Pups in the dust. read more

Polished Pups is a one stop shop for your fur baby's every need! I dropped off my friend's pup and they called me two hours later to pick him up, what a nice break! The grooming was on point and he smelt sooooo good! They sell a lot of cute outfits for dogs and cats. Our dog walked out with a prissy, "I'm the man" attitude and a cute green bandanna around its neck. read more

Polished Pups located at 19239 Stone Oak Pkwy 78258 charged us $102.01 for bathing and grooming our Golden Doodle but instead they just shaved ALL her hair and injured her by cutting both the ears. We were never informed about the incident and they never cleaned her wounds and now our dog is terrified and highly stressed. We returned immediately to the groomer to speak to the manager who did nothing. Nicky the groomer that serviced our dog first denied the incident and then she made up an excuse saying it was an hematoma "caused by hair mats". The wounds were fresh and not caused by the mats but by two serious cuts on both ears. They ruined the dog's fur because they were too lazy to brush it like they were supposed to without informing us. Please don´t take your dog to Polished Pups if you love your dog as we do. read more

The quality of the pet spa services my pet received were excellent. The staff was helpful but I felt talked down to a bit concerning my pet's weight and the fact that he was overdue for a bath. I brought him in to get serviced-- I wouldn't have brought him if he wasn't in need of the services I paid for....? Just took my two pups to get bathed and groomed. A golden retriever and a white lab. They did a terrific job. The golden get a full spa, trimmed up pretty tight and the lab get a regular spa. They also do a great job and am always pleased! read more

Walked into Polished Pups to pick my dog up after his grooming. The place was quiet. After paying for the service, the receptionist, who was very pleasant, said she would go get my dog from the back. When she entered the holding area where my dog was, he started barking. Two groomers were in the middle area working when one of them said, "he's so annoying", referring to my dog. The other groomer said, "he's going home right now". Needless to say, I wasn't very happy. Rude and unprofessional to say the least!! read more

I was disappointed in my dog's cut. There were clearly visible uneven scissor cuts on his ears and body. I had specifically asked to have the face area trimmed including the discolored fur under the eyes and chin (he is a white poodle mix). Those requested areas as well as the tail were not trimmed. The appointment took over 5 hours and the groomer was not available to speak with when I picked him up. read more

We take our little guy Bolo here every 6 to 8 weeks. They really take care of him. What we like best is that the place is clean and that polished pups has our Dog's Care in mind first. I really wanted to like this groomer. They were very friendly and seemed to be concerned that our dogs would have a good experience. We went into it knowing that both dogs had gotten excessively furry over the summer and would likely need to be shaved...so finding out that they agreed once they met the dogs wasn't that unexpected. The drop off was fine, although I noticed a large number of dogs had already been checked in for the day - almost double what our old groomers would have in any given day. Pick-up was where things fell apart. When I arrived, the person behind the desk, who definitely worked there, didn't know how to process a credit card and asked the groomer to come help. So...that left the "desk lady" to go get my dogs. Within a minute I was "attacked" by two dogs I didn't even recognize....without collars or leashes. It took a second to realize these were MY dogs - just shaved so close that NOTHING was left - no schnauzer beards or skirts or "eyebrows." But the scary part was that the lady just let them run straight into the outer room without their collars or anything. If someone had opened the door to the business, my dogs would have run STRAIGHT OUTSIDE onto the busy street - without any way of restraining them since she was just standing next to the desk with their leashes and collars in her hand. As I tried to put collars on two overly-excited dogs, no one made a single move to help with the process, even when I asked if someone would just hand me a collar. I had to get up, walk to the worker, and retrieve each item, all the while hoping that no one would accidentally let a dog outside before they were restrained. I paid and left in a not-awesome mood, but I was anxious to leave. It was only after I got home that I discovered the nicks and cuts inside my senior dog's ears. This dog is 11+ years old, and she's NEVER been cut in all the times she's been groomed. BOTH EARS were cut and still bleeding. It's been almost 2 1/2 weeks since they were groomed and her ears still haven't completely healed. The workers were friendly, but I simply can't recommend this groomer to anyone. Sorry. read more

New to the area, so have been making my rounds of dog grooming places. Brought my Springer in for full package - what that means I'm not 100% sure. Was not impressed with the results. My dog has a 2" tall by 4-5" inch wide box shaped shaved area on her chest like they started to shave her with the wrong blade. This is not an area that was matted - so it wasn't due to that. They must have clipped rather than ground her nails as well because her nails are like razor blades now. Combine that with the fact that this was the most expensive of the three places I've taken her so far. Won't be back. Unfortunately, they took payment before bringing my dog out so I left a pretty healthy tip to add insult to injury. On the plus side, my dog smells better than when she went in and they did a good job cleaning her ears. read more

I moved from San Antonio in August and prior to that I have been going to this groomer for a couple of years I think they are awesome and do wonderful work I miss having them around because we moved to VA and people are complaining about the prices at this place well let me tell you the prices are great at this place to get your dog groomed in VA its over 100.00 and my dog is 4 pounds I find that crazy I have never ever had any problems and my dog was fine every time I took her in so I know they were good with her I do recommend this place highly I have heard horror stories about other places do your research be careful where you take your pet because at one groomer they sedated a dog and it died and that was a place off stone Oak also I have heard of groomers leaving the dog on the table as they walk away the dog try's to jump and ends up hanging it's self so where ever you go make sure you do your homework I did my homework when I found this place and truly I was very happy Thank you guys for all the love you have for animals that's what makes you all great miss you wish I could have taken you with me when I moved Thanks Kim Thompson Lilly misses you too read more

These people are wonderful. We take our big dogs once a month for nail clipping. In and out, and they are fast, efficient and kind. My elderly mom just moved in with her fuzzy old dog and we are taking her to Polished Pups as well. We don't need fancy ribbons and bows, but trust them to treat our animals kindly and take good care of them. They also take care of my friend's "designer" doggies and they always smell wonderful and are groomed with care. read more

I love Polished Pups. I have read several of the reviews and have to say that I have never had rudeness nor overpricing. I have taken my maltese/poo and bichon poo to Petsmart as I followed Angela who is a fabulous groomer that my dogs love. She moved a couple months to Polished Pups, and although now a 30 minute drive is well worth it for Angela. Polished pups for a top dog grooming is less than Petsmart where I used to go, and the boutique there is fabulous. They even have SPUR tshirts and bows!!! So if considering a groomer, call for Angela at Polished Pups and you will not be dissappointed. read more

I HAD been going to this place for a couple years with NO issues .. until today when the apparent owner of the place decided to get ugly with me. We live outside the San Antonio area, had a very bad experience at another groomer near us, and at the suggestion of a friend who used to take her dogs to Polished Pups, I decided to give them a try, despite the over an hour long drive. When I made my first appointment, I explained to them that I live quite a distance from them, and asked if it would be possible to wait while my dog was being groomed. "Of course", I was told, there would be an extra fee for a rush job, but "absolutely come on in we'll take care of you, blah blah blah". And that's precisely what happened on the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, etc visit. Had no issues with the front staff, or with any of the groomers .. it had always been a very pleasant experience .. until today. I always called at least a month in advance to make my appointment so that they don't over-schedule the girl who groomed my dog, and I ALWAYS tipped her well. Today, I went into my MONTH LONG SCHEDULED appointment and there was someone "new" sitting behind the desk .. I'm guessing she was the owner. She was not friendly, nor helpful in the least, when I asked her about one of the products she sells, and waited to ring me out before giving me a nasty look, and telling me that in the future, if I want to wait with my dog, that I need to be there at 8:00 am because by making later appointments, it causes the groomer to have to put other dogs on the back burner. I tried explaining that I had scheduled way in advance, and that I'd been a customer for several years, and asked why it was all of a sudden an issue. The whole time she held that nasty look on her face, talked over me when I was trying to ask her questions, and left me feeling quite irritated. She never did explain why it was all of a sudden an issue .. she just kept repeating herself, in a highly condescending tone. I left, put my dog in the car, and momentarily went back in and told her since I called to make my appointment so far in advance, that's HER problem for over scheduling, and to lose my contact information, because I would not be returning to her store ever again. She heard me, but refused to look up and acknowledge me. So yeah, I called her a b*tch as I left. And deservedly so! She then felt the need to call me and tell me never to come into her store again .. like I hadn't just fired her already, in person. EDIT ... wow .. it's FOUR months later. I don't use/need Yelp all that much but needed it tonight, to check on a roofer we're looking at hiring. Upon signing in, I saw I had a message. Clicked on it, and it was a nasty message from the owner of this shop who clearly didn't appreciate my review. Sorry if the truth hurts, lady! read more

From walking in the door in the morning to picking up my dogs in the afternoon, I was nothing short of impressed! I was promptly greeted and my dogs were treated like family. As soon as they were taken to the back room I was drawn to the adorable doggie clothes and supplies. The most unique clothes I had ever seen! I was called a few hours later to let me know they were ready. When I arrived my dogs not only looked great, but they smelled great and were happy too! After using Doggie Dooz for a few years, I decided to try a new groomer after I read some horrible things on Yahoo reviews. The first time I took my 10 year-old poodle mix, they were able to see him right away on a Saturday. Since he's a mix, I'm not picky on the cut. However, they were ridiculously overpriced, $60ish + tip for what they call a full spa. My dog has curly hair so he has to get the full spa because the medium priced spa doesn't include much trimming. Since my experience the first time was pretty good, I decided to take my new pup and my older dog together. My other dog is also a poodle mix. I called on a Saturday morning and they were able to get him in at noon. The receptionist was very friendly and told me that she was glad I called because they had three cancellations. I dropped both of my dogs off at noon. She said they closed at 4:30 and would have them both ready by that time. I explained how I wanted my younger dog cut. I was very specific, I thought. By 4:15, no one had called to tell me they were ready so I called them. They told me it would be a bit longer. My boyfriend went to pick them up at 4:30 (because they told me they closed at that time) and they told him they would not be ready until 5:30. The receptionist also made it seem as thought they were doing us a favor by grooming them because they were booked. This is not what I was told on the phone. When they were finally ready, my older dog was not trimmed down like I asked. My new dog's cut was nothing like I asked. So, $120 + tip later, I will not be visiting this pet salon ever again ! read more

Lydia is fabulous!! I have a Maltese and I have never had my fur child look better! I used to take her to Petsmart and she would come back shaking for 2 days! Ever since I've gone to Lydia her tear stains are almost non existent when I get her back and I don't have issues with matting like I did in the past. How highly recommend polished pups! read more

Horrible. Although very happy with Doggy Doz, thought we would try Polished Pups as it is closer to my work. Bad mistake. Unfortunately my female, 10 year old Lhasa Apso has to pay the price. She had beautiful long ears with bows still attached when I took her in. Her ears were a little matted.....nothing that Doggie Doz hasn't been able to handle beautifully. Groomer stated he might have to cut out the matting. It wasn't much, okay. I picked her up within 2.5 hours only to discover he shearred her ears! He even cut the long fur off her tail, then claimed he didn't! Lhasa's are suppose to have long ears and tails. She looks like a Beagle. The price plus tip - way too much for the services rendered. Unfortunately, I didn't see her before I paid the bill. Driving home, I discovered her nails were cut, but not straight nor were they filed. They were literally split and jagged. I had to smooth them out. Horrible experience. By the way, anyone know how long it take for Lhasa ears to grow out? She was shearred on Friday, 8/26/11. read more

I have two very large and hyper working dogs who blow their costs in summer and winter. One of them has also developed some spring allergies since moving to San Antonio. I take tgem in to polished pets and they take GREAT care of my guys every time. You can see how much better the dogs feel after being groomed and Sam loves the attention. I work a crazy schedule and they are great about always getting us in and working around when I can get there. read more

I have a very similar story to Terri P. I took my miniature Maltese in for a full hair cut and wash. I brushed her right before bringing her in and the receptionist was very rude about the "mats" she found. I spoke with the groomer herself and pulled out my own brush to show them it wasn't so bad they couldn't get rid of the mats. The groomer tried to tell me she couldn't get the brush through the hair so I demonstrated it for her. She STILL claimed she absolutely had to shave her. What do these people get paid for? If I can get the mats out on my own then someone I pay money to should be able to do the same. This will be the last time I take my dog there. The sad thing is that, between my parents and siblings, we own 5 dogs that used to go to PP. They just lost all that business as well. read more

The place is cute and the location is convenient BUT I will no longer take my puppy here. One time they returned her still wet and told me "sometimes dogs pee themselves while waiting" when my dog has not had any accident in years, another time they accused me of stealing the harness I brought from home and the last time they shaved my dogs eat so close that she had small cuts on her skin. Yes I gave them multiple chances because of the location but once they hurt my dog I am done with them! read more

They have been grooming my Maltipoo for years now. The staff is very nice with the exception of two female groomers. On my last visit, they refused to take my dog because "she was mean and her hair had become too long and matted for them to manage." They advised me to take her to the vet and have her sedated and groomed there. They were pretty rude about it and there was an obvious distaste for my dog. I decided to call some other groomers in town and the first place to pick up told me to come by in a couple of hours.They took her and did a great job! The groomer came out to tell me that even though she was a little hard to manage at first, she calmed down and did great. I thought PP was a great place but now I know better. There are other groomers out there who not only know how to work with your dog but actually have customer service experience. Not to mention this place (Wash Dawg) was less expensive. read more

I have taken my 10 year old pedigree dog to this establishment about 8 to 10 times. Sometimes, he has been groomed very well, but sometimes, he has had razor rash. My dog is as dear to me as any child, so I refuse to take him anywhere that does not provide top notch service or fails to display sincere caring for him. In November, 2012, Polished Pups groomed my dog. He seemed fine when I picked him up, but a day later, I noticed he had the worst razor burn of his life on the inside of his back leg. The groomer failed to mention the burn to me when I picked him up and paid $70+. The very bad rash was about 2 inches wide and 4 inches long. It required treatment with medication for 8 days and was very uncomfortable for my dog. After I cooled off for about 8 weeks, I figured they could handle a simple bath, comb-out and blowdry. He looked good, but started limping within 6 hours of arriving back home. One of his nails was split very badly. Another trip to the vet and $24 for medication to stabilize the nail! This injury struck me as very odd because at the time I dropped him off, I advised them of my disappointment regarding the razor burn 8 weeks earlier. I told the receptionist that they would never again cut his hair. I thought a bath would be okay. I should not have left him after complaining. I can't prove anything, but I have serious concerns about the safety of any pet groomed at this facility. I will never again take my dog there for ANY service whatsoever. read more
