Even though the official address is on N. Main you actually can't enter on that side, it's an exit only. Better signage might help out the situation guiding people around to the other side where you actually can enter. It's a historic courthouse so that will tell you about the general milieu. There are steps to get in so if you are with a guest that is in a stroller or wheelchair you need to pick up them and their accompanying apparatus step by step. Last time I was in court here the family in front of me was figuring out a stroller for a wee baby Seamus and a wheelchair for an elderly person possibly named Mallory given the extensive amount of profanity I heard. They looked entirely frustrated with the steps only situation. The lobby inside is tiny since it wasn't designed the way the more modern courthouses were where you could just stand out chatting on your celly with ya girlfriend and snapchatting or whatever else the children are doing these days with their iPhone 99+s. There is enough room to get through security and to get out of the way. If you are meeting someone here you should probably meet them outside the building if they don't know where they are going, or meet them at the front door to your specific court once you get upstairs. The courts (at least two, possibly more) got shuffled since the last time I was here. The specific one I was in was moved around the building but the signs were still in place ALL over the place pointing me to the old location. So I was a bit surprised to find the old signs were wrong and FILTHY LIARS. That was not the court I was supposed to be in. Update yo signage, girlfriend. There is free parking nearby so while it's more than an hour in your automocar from downtown Houston and you are burning up gas and your patience slowly inching north on 45 at least you don't need to take out a third mortgage to pay for daily parking unlike what my life is like on days in Harris County.

I went with a friend of mine to pick up his mom and dads marriage certificate. He didn't know what…read moreyear they were married and it didn't show up in the computer system so they had to go through a book that spanned over 10 years of marriage records that were listed in chronological order, not alphabetical order which would make it a tedious task. The lady helping us did not seem to mind helping us to find it though, she was very nice and friendly. Because there were people behind us and we didn't know how long it was going to take we asked if we could just leave our name and number and have her call us when she found it. It was about 4pm when we left so I didn't expect to hear from her until the next day with it being so close to the end of the day. Much to my surprise we barely had time to make it back to my house before she called and told us the she had found it. I was very impressed. I'm so glad that the people who work at our court house are so helpful and friendly.

The County Clerks office for getting a new Passport or a renewal is in the New Courthouse Building on the 2nd floor in Ste.203. The new courthouse is to the left of the old County courthouse and not near as tall. Try to leave as much metal as you can at home as you do have to go through a metal detector on entering. After that you can go up the stairs to your left or to your right are the elevators. Everything went pretty quick and the clerks were very helpful. If you're getting your passport renewed be sure and take your old one with you so they can get your passport number off of your old one.

I had all my paper work and upon speaking to someone they informed me that I can go online to make an appointment which is cool. Yet, they don't tell you that it's all booked for like 2 months out at EVERY LOCATION (ridicules). I went back to the lady and said as much and she verbally says "oh, well you can be a walk-in on Mon., Tues., Thurs., & Friday between 8am to 12:30pm but it's best to arrive right at 8am". LIKE WHY NOT SAY THAT! instead these people who are turning people away and not informing them of their walk-in policy so that they can get their transfers done. WHO has 2 months to wait when the state requires a 30 day change????? Make that make sense! Title transfers are not an option to do online or by mail, it HAS to be done in person. SMH, if I would not have asked these people would not have told me about this; AND how YOU GONNA HAVE AN ATTITUDE BECAUSE I ASK A QUESTIONS??? it's your job to inform the people coming/going regarding all things related to this office. Some people just give shitty service (not all) but like how are we suppose to know the walk-in rule if you are not telling anyone?

Thankfully, that's not what I was here for and there was no line for the County Clerk's office for renewal of Assumed Names/business names/marriage licenses. I had some hiccups with their signature machine that added an extra ~15 minutes because they had to restart with another clerk/computer, but otherwise the process went smoothly. I was out by 8:30 and I'm sure I could've been in and out in 15 minutes. They do not take tap or Apple Pay so keep that in mind. Also, cards must be in your name or have someone there whose name matches the card.

Today was the start of the Labor Day Dwi task force initiative. There were lots of different…read moreagencies present for the kickoff, they served hamburgers and hotdogs with all the fixings. After roll initiatives and prayers for safe returns dinner was served. Later our men and women of color headed out for a long night of protecting and serving. Alan Rosen stopped by to give his words of encouragement for a prosperous night. This was my first opportunity to do a ride along and I was overcome with excitement to also serve our community. I rode with officer Brandi and it was a very eventful night. We had 7 traffic stops and 1 non life threatening crash with 1 arrest. Awesome night!!!!

Had to visit here to pay one of my Humble light tickets and it was easy to find. The office itself…read morewas pretty small with benches and a small window to talk to the shift officer. The only thing I can really ding this place on was the wait time, I would suggest they have at least 2 people working at the window during normals peoples lunch lunch time (11:30-2?). I was in a rush to get back to work but had to wait about 10-15 minutes to be seen. The Officer at the window was very helpful and the process was smooth to pay the ticket off. He was even able to pull up the video of the occurrence of the ticket which was pretty cool and gave me reassurance that I had to pay it. If I remember correctly, they accept cash, debit and credit cards but I believe there is a convenience fee if you pay with a card.

Was on my way to Dallas to Houston for a New Years party and got stopped for a "no front license…read moreplate" and the officer noticed that my wife's state inspection had expired. *sigh*. We spent part of the day, New Years Eve, getting new tires and getting the current on our inspection. We returned here on Jan 2 to get our ticket dismissed. If your ticket is more than 60 days expired, it can't be dismissed but if you are within that time period and you get your car inspected within 20 days of the ticket, you can get it dismissed. We arrive at the building, looking for the Justice of the Peace Room 204. I expected 204 to be on the second floor, but they have one of the rooms on the first floor relabeled as 207, so who knows. We walk around and finally ask a lady in one of the rooms where we're to go, she says, "I have no idea. Go down to probation and see if they can tell you." Luckily probation says to go upstairs and it's there. We get up there and there's no one up there but there is a window for JP Precinct 4 and the clerk comes to help us. I explain the situation and she asks for the $20 payment and she says, "Okay, would you like me to send you a letter for the dismissal?" "Yes please." And that was it. Then I thought to myself, what if it doesn't get dismissed and/or I don't get the dismissal letter? So I go back and ask them if I can have some kind of receipt to at least show that I tried to take care of the citation. She stamps my inspection report and writes that she received the money and information. *Then* we leave. Today, Jan 4, I get a letter in the mail that says the ticket has been dismissed.
