Residential dump closes at 4 PM weekdays. Don't bother coming out a second after, you'll waste your time and they will waste yours. They'll keep the front gate open so you can drive all the way down to the second gate which is locked just so you can turn around and then have a miserable time going back home lol. This the eighth state I have lived and never have I been treated with such respect and human kindness; something sorely missing these days. I moved here one month ago and found carpeting and padding left in my garage by the people I hired to replace the flooring prior to moving in the house. I contacted bulk trash for a pick up. The website is a bit confusing, so I suggest calling to get clarity on the rules of bulk trash pick up. Eduardo, the driver I flagged down and his partner Gerald explained what they can and cannot take. While I appreciated the information, I immediately noticed how caring and concerned they were for my need to removed this mess. It's rare to feel like a real person rather than a number or a job. Hurray for Polk County Waste & Recycling. This is so far the only government entity where I feel heard and know that the people there care. AWESOME! read more

Easily the worst Trash people.. I'll throw it into the truck myself at this point since they always seem to miss.. idk what's goin on I've called multiple times seeking the problem nothings ever done... they broke one of our cans.. still have the broken can.. I have a new puppy as she's still in potting training so I bag up the turds to be thrown away not thrown into the street for me to pick up... it's embarrassing and annoying... half the time they never empty the can 100%.. and I have a camera watching them bye our front gate and they can still seem not to give a sh**.. seen so many bad reviews that I thought i had to give my share... read more

Trash! This is the word that describes this business! Never picked up yard waste from 2 weeks back. Neighbor called they made a special run back. My mother is across street and they left hers with at 4 other homes. I called in and told it would be picked up on 4/19/21. It's now 4/28/21...same piles still stacked at same homes. Today Oct 19 2018 I drove out to Polk County Waste and Recycling drop off site. The web site states they are open from 8-5 Mon through Fri. When I arrived at the site there was a deputy sheriff parked in a car at a closed gate. The deputy said they closed at noon, but she did not know when they had changed. If I could give them a zero I would. if I was this bad at my job I would've been fired. This company is the worst trash company I've ever had to deal with. I've lived in a lot of different places, and nowhere else has there been this level of incompetency. The only thing I can count on with them is that they will skip my house at least once a month. They only pick up once a week! I'm constantly having to call them and waste my precious time trying to compel them to actually do their jobs! however, calling them or placing a request online falls on deaf ears. Even if I ask for a supervisor, nothing gets done. It seems they don't care. My recycling bin got run over over three months ago in June. I reported it immediately, they ignored us for months and I had to report it again this past week on October third. Today is recycling day and it is past 2 o'clock. I have no confidence that they're going to bother to pick anything up. Our street will just consist of Full recycling cans, overflowing garbage cans, because they never pick that up either, bulk trash that I have reported but I doubt they're coming to get that, and yard waste from the hurricane. I even watched one of their trucks drive right by my house one morning at full speed. He stopped and backed up when he noticed I was waiting for him on the porch. I have no idea how they're getting away with being so terrible at their jobs. Somebody needs to take this whole place in hand and re-organize it and fire everyone! read more

Polk County needs to find a way to reimburse its residents for this terrible, paid, non-service. 7 weeks and trash picked up once. Customer service is overwhelmed with calls only to submit a ticket and the results remain the same. Maybe time for a new County manager to take the reigns and fix this debacle. read more

This company is horrible. I forgot to put my trash out for the first time in over four years and told to take it to the landfill myself. They only pick up the trash once a week as it is and have missed pick ups (due to their mistake) multiple times. Because they are paid thru our taxes, they have no obligation to satisfy their customer. In Florida where most days are over 90 degrees, this is just disgusting. read more

3 day bulk pickup? What a lie. First time I placed bulk item by curb a day before garbage pickup a week later still there. Made call to bulk waste and was told should have been picked up in 3 days and will have it picked up right away. A week later still there, made call again and finally a week later was picked up. 3 weeks for pickup, not 3 days. Now I have placed another item out for bulk pickup and called immediately (on a Monday) and here it is Friday and still there. I did call second time on Thursday late, about 3:30PM and was told still had a couple of hours before it was late for pickup. That I should wait and call on Friday if not picked up by then. If pick up window is really 3 weeks then stop telling people it's 3 days. Lying to people just makes them angry. I don't pay taxes to be lied to, although that's seems that's what all politicians do get elected. Promises never meant to be kept... lets keep Polk beautiful... my first bulk pick up was early january. you know that time of year when you make certain goals. after several complaints , it was picked up last week in march. now my second pick up, at a time that changes have been made for all things new get to happen. i put in a service request on 4-8-22. today i have called and placed another servicr request on line, 4-26-22. ( twin matress ) . i was today informed over the phone that i can now place bulk waste out on friday my regulay pick up day, and someone would pick it up. i already read that on 4-8-22 when i placed my service order and so that doesnt hold true at all for me. i was also informed at one time that the regular friday pick up person driving the truck is suppose to report items beside the road. thats not happening either. i told the young lady on the phone today , i have no faith that things are being run ship , shape. so , therefore i will call twice weekly until my bulk items have been removed. futhermore , i don't believe anyone has informed nor trained the drivers what thier new job description is. i have tried to speak to the driver before and only could get my point accross since i don't speak spanish , using sign language. i got the point accross. now he backs down the street , instead of turning around on the grass to collect it is a dead end street. i asked the young lady , how are you going to get the important message to the truck driver. her reply was to complain to the driver supervisor . didn't really want to do that , but the message has to get through somehow.. read more

Complete trash. If I could leave a negative stars to take away from their 1.5 star rating I would. From the leadership to the drivers the only competent people at this place are the customer service workers who have to deal with the complaints. Trash constantly scattered throughout the neighborhood because the drivers will not stop to completely dump the can into the truck. They have missed 3 recycling pickups since October and do not make them up. There is no refund or reprieve for them missing the service you pay for because it is included in your property taxes, which I assure you I'm not getting a discount on for services not provided. Leadership clearly has no control or no care, because they won't return the call or lie about what they will do for you if you get them on the phone. This isn't mentioning the 2 months a bull item pickup sat in front of my house falling apart due to a hurricane and tropical storm tearing them up, the facility promises three days and were notified every the days by me. There is nothing to be done and now with Christmas happening my full bin, which MIGHT be picked up Friday the 30th because the next holiday and my garage has become a storage unit for extra recycling with a quarter of it filled with boxes and bags from the missed services. Unfortunately if you live in Polk County there are no other options and you are stuck with this awful service. If you can find a similar house in ANY OTHER COUNTy, I can't imagine you will find a worse trash collection service. read more

This new company that Polk County has retained to perform the functions of collecting and disposing of the counties waste is by far worse than the one before and we had a tax increase to pay for worse service. Drivers apparently are not trained to perform their jobs in accordance to supposedly company policy and when you have to continuously call to have them perform what you pay them for it is almost like pulling teeth. You will get continuous phone calls from them, almost to the point of harassment, that will explain to you why they did not perform the service they are paid to do. I lost my temper with them when they decided to keep calling me to the point of harassment and for the life of me cannot reason why they have the time to continuously call me but do not have the time to perform the service they are paid for. Rating ZERO (one star only because it made me) - I have contacted the Polk County Recycle folks 4 times now to pick up my new huge recycle bin (we just don't have space for it - several of us are going to share one). I've been told each time they would pick it up within 48 hours. On the 3rd call I asked if I could escalate this - was told I had to wait until the next call (what?) and that they would follow-up with me to ensure it was done (did not happen). Now I am waiting on a route supervisor to call me back (so I can escalate) - I'm not holding my breath - my next step - I'm taking it to the dump - they can pick it up there - or Deena K (other review) do you want it? read more
