Polkadots & Moonbeams blew me away! I attended their trunk show last night (3/15/2018) and with the intention of only buying a few things ended up with some incredible pieces! I found not only a hand stitched vintage piece (see photo for details), but some of the most unique jewelry I've seen to date. I could not see my wardrobe without these items. The shop is super hip, the staff are absolutely inspiring and delightful. The variety of apparel is so diverse yet complements the entirety of the collection (it's a must see). It is abundantly clear the thought the owner has made in terms of the consumers experience and how each piece offers the buyer a break from what seemed to be a stagnant point in fashion. I want customization, I don't want to walk down the street and see the same $385 sweater from _________. Instead, I found a wide variety of masterpieces that appeal to us missing the 90's grunge era, to a soft creamy suppleness for those hippie chic. Playful, bold, and vibrant, yet I also came across textiles that would be appropriate for work or a wedding. I will without a doubt continue exploring what Polkadots and Moonbeams has to offer. I came here with my Mom when we were visiting California and staying at the Orlando Hotel (right across the street). From the moment we walked in Flow brought us options for my body type; taking my personal preferences into consideration. She was such a sweetheart, and her clothing choices were on point!! I was ready to give a 5 star rating and considered this my new favorite store until I saw the tie dye dress I bought just last week online for almost $40 less than what I paid at the store. I feel like I have been taken advantage of I m going to go back there today and demand to speak to the owner bc that is just wrong. Had I known I could get it online for so much less I would have. It's a great store with great customer service but we will see what they say. I'm a detail maniac and when I told Wendy and Matilda that I was hosting a Mad Men party and I had very little time- they came through for me. Not only were these two women completely professional, they hustled in a short amount of time to help me find something that fit my figure, the occasion, and my budget. i've been to hundreds of vintage and antique stores around the states and I give this store 5 stars. The store was clean, organized, and charming. It wasn't overwhelming and there was absolutely no attitude. Each customer was treated equally while I was there and it felt like home. How's that for a recommendation?!? I was also pleasantly surprised to see that there were many sizes too choose from - there was more than just the perfect 22 inch waist dresses one tends to find at vintage stores. I discovered this shop one lucky afternoon about a month ago. What started as a browse turned into a memorable experience. I received a lot of helpful (not pushy) attention from the darling woman who was working that day. She made the experience fun by selecting several outfits that were suited for my shape: one for a wedding and one for a 4th of July party. I was surprised that when I came out of the fitting room I felt awesome! The outfits were a hit; I received many compliments on my clothing at both events. I ended up returning just yesterday to buy two more of the same "Million Dollar Baby" cut in different colors. I now consider these pieces to be major staples of my wardrobe. Not one but two stores on 3rd? Polkadots, you are aggressive when it comes to prime real estate, and I like a greedy gal. I stopped by here in hopes of finding a vintage-inspired dress for an event and although I wanted to grab everything from the first threshold I stepped through, I had to stay focused and not stray. I tried on a few things knowing full well that they were out of my price range for a costume, but I am a woman and so this is par for the course. After seeing the styles I had left in the dressing room, the lovely sales girl mentioned that I could find more decade-appropriate dresses just a couple of doors down at their other store. She was so right! It was a buffet of old fashioned garb and accessories. I spent over an hour going through each rack (separated by color). Unfortunately for me, nothing quite fit in the right places (too big here, too small there, buttons popping there, zipper making funky ripples there, etc.). However I did find some good accessories to dandy up an LBD that I already owned. Prices ranged and I believe there was something for every budget. I've been going to the modern store for years, ignoring the vintage which, let's face it, was pretty ignorant of me. About a year ago or so I just checked out the vintage store on a whim and boy, does my wardrobe thank me! Also, my wallet. I don't really like to dig through the racks, I'm the type of shopper where I like things right in front of me but at Polkadots, I'll take my time and look through because it's well worth it. Jennifer's also awesome, she actually let's me know when they get new stuff in. When I leave my information at stores so they can let me know and never hear from them, I think, "Lame!" but not her! I mean, I wouldn't leave my info if I didn't want to be contacted then. Jeez. My best compliments of all my dresses are from Polkadots and I love that it's vintage, not your typical mall off the rack dress that the next gal will likely have or get. Plus the sizing is generous for my broad shoulders since gals back then were NORMAL. goodness. I digress. The prices were fair, lots of accessories in the store - hats, jewelry, scarves, etc. They also had a selection of new dresses too! I almost hate to write this review to let other know my little secret which probably isn't that much of a secret but honestly, it deserves a great one. Parking is metered. I think you can park in the neighborhoods...but don't quote me on that, it is by permit as well so there are limitations so be sure to check the signs! I learned the hard way but that was my fault. Be prepared to spend some time at the vintage store but it's well worth it! Remember, if the clothes have a little imperfections, it is VINTAGE. Don't be nitpicky. I love vintage boutiques but I normally get overwhemed quickly because you have to do so much digging to find something great. This place, however, seems to have only gems. No wading through crap you'd see at a bad yard sale. Also, I have to compliment the owner, Wendy. Some people hate attention from shop-keepers but let me tell you- when she sees what you are looking for and what you like she will save you the trouble of going through it on your own and she isn't pushy. Far and away my favorite vintage store. The prices are right, the selection overflows with color and style, and the staff will happily provide their honest opinions about what you (think) you're about to buy. I bought some great dangly earrings here a couple months ago. Believe or not, they actually stood out from another pair that I came close to purchasing at a different boutique, and they cost me a lot less than what I would have paid. I prefer the vintage store to the new store, mostly because it's more in my price- range. That said, the new store offers some pretty unbeatable sales every so often, and their collection is fairly consistently awesome. In short, don't be fooled by the gaudy name. If I need a new outfit, this is the first place that I think of going to because they have a lot of great, good-quality, STYLISH stuff. The prices are decent, especially considering all of the great finds..under one roof!! So many great dresses, pants, sweaters, skirts, shoes, jewelery, etc. It is almost like a one-stop place to put together a whole, trendy outfit....at a reasonable price. For a very long time, my only knowledge of this place was their website. I would check in weekly to see if there were updates and, most importantly, to check on the sales, as many of them were very good deals. So, I was super excited to find, while tooling around LA, that they have a store. Well, 2 stores actually, but I'm more interested in the non-vintage one. They have a beautiful selection of clothing and I was salivating over the Milly dresses. Unfortunately, the prices were a bit overpriced in my opinion. I have a hard time spending over $100 on a cotton jersey dress. I did leave with one purchase and plan to return. The saleswoman was super friendly and not too pushy. read more

(For their vintage store) WOW!! I've been wanting to visit this place for years, and now that I finally got around to it, they have a new loyal customer! The store is well-organized, the prices are too reasonable to be believed, and the selection is varied and gorgeous! Not all of their items are in mint condition, but that's only to be expected with used clothing, and the damaged items are priced accordingly. The oldest item I saw was from the 30's and it was in beautiful condition. I'm over the moon for this store! Shoutout to Jennifer for being an absolute doll. I received a gift from that store, and unfortunately I already had the exact item at home. Turns out the lady that works there by the name of FLO knows my very dear friend that bought me the gift. When I asked FLO to please NOT tell my friend that I came by the store to exchange the gift as I did not want to offend her or disappoint her by any means.... Flo made it VERY clear to me that she would definitely will tell her if she happened to come by the store again!!!!!!!!!! You would think I asked Flo to lie under oath in a murder trial!!!!!!!!! I came into Polkadots and Moonbeams last weekend under a little duress. I was throwing my 36th Birthday party that night at a new 'Art Deco' themed restaurant (The Tar Pit...go there...it's awesome!) and decided last minute that I needed some help with the outfit I was planning on wearing. I thought maybe accessories would help make it a little more in line with the 'Art Deco' theme so I made my way over the hill from North Hollywood to the vintage shop. I brought my dress in and was greeted with warmth and enthusiasm by Katia. Thinking maybe I might buy a new dress instead (to better fit my theme party) she graciously showed me every option available from dress, to jewelry to accessories. In the end I still had my dress but bought the most amazing (!!!!) gold rabbit ring! However, something shifted walking out of the vintage shop. My faith in retail was restored with Katia's genuine warmth, kindness and willingness to help. So after that I took my dress and made my way to the modern shop. Also looking for accessories but even still, more open to the possibility of finding an outfit that perhaps worked better. That is where I met Liron and eventually Mindy. Liron looked at the dress I brought in and was eager to help me "dress" it up even more. One dress caught my eye though (especially the price) and before I knew it we were looking together through the dresses and I was now excited to buy something altogether new and wonderful! One, because this shop always has the most amazing selection. Two, because it was my birthday! We found a dress together that ended up being absolutely perfect! When trying it on both Liron and Mindy helped accessorize (the most amazing diamond headband!!) and gave their opinions on the right fit and how to best wear it. Such enthusiasm, such kindness and really, between Katia, Liron and Mindy...one of the best shopping experiences I have ever known. What stands out most is their presence and willingness to listen and help. I came in with a dress of my own which pretty much pegged me as someone who did not want to spend much money. Most places wouldn't even budge to help me...why bother? Not here, not this wonderful shop or the people that make it what it is: an incredibly unique experience. In the end I ditched my original dress and plan and got everything new. An amazing sexy, black retro dress that fit the theme and made me feel like the 'belle of the ball' at my birthday party. I rarely get time to vintage shop in LA - and after hitting another nearby (amazing but super pricey!) vintage shop, I have to say that Polkadots & Moonbeams was a real delight! Their prices were very reasonable. For those that say it's expensive - where the heck are you shopping? Sure, if you've got a ton of free time and energy for hitting every yard sale & flea market out there -- you MIGHT get lucky. But I go to those, too - and half the time the prices are just as high as in retail stores! Anyway -- the vintage here is in good condition, clean & nicely displayed. I found several things I LOVED, but had to narrow it down to an AMAZING black 50's circle skirt with random red embroidered daisies and a 30's/40's red felt tilt hat. The gal working was super helpful & sweet! She pulled out anything she thought I might like - and if I lived in the area, I'll bet in no time she'd have my tastes down to a science and call me every time something "me" came in. First off let me say THANK YOU POLKADOTS AND MOONBEAMS! I was on the search for an evening gown for the Cicada club for my birthday and unfortunatly could not find anything until the last min. However i was REALLY REALLY trying for vintage.... modern was my last resort if I had to. I went to Polkadots and Moonbeams praying i would find something because this was now the day of the event. I drove from Burbank so this was kind of a treck but so worth it. Parking is hard because its meters, although there is parking in the back of the store... just make sure you dont block anyone. The actual store is small but packed with gorgeous items. Right when i walked in i told the girl of my dilema... she instantly picked out things and put them in a dressing room for me. The first dress i tried on was a perfect fit and THE dress for the night. it came out to be $68 dollars. Let me also say the prices are reasonable like my dress... an also expensive, i would not go in if you have about 50 dollars to spend and thats it for an outfit. The sales girl was super sweet and made me want to return very soon though. PS- they have a sister store of moden clothing a few doors down... check it out! I've been shopping at Polkadots & Moonbeams for over 10 years. I call them my store family. Wendy has such an eye for picking pieces that can fit all different ages and varieties of women. I've used Polkadots as my go to one-stop shop. Lauren, Kelly and Flo are absolutely amazing. I having been missing Qui but the girls all make up for it. I feel taken care of when I go to Polkadots. I can even call ahead if I have a special event or item I need and the girls will prepare a whole room for me. They know exactly what will fit me and look great. I always love the pieces they pick out and discover something new. The pieces at Polkadots are special and when you wear them you feel like one of kind. The sale section is great for deals and in general they love giving back to their customers with rewards when you spend and extra bonuses if you follow their Facebook or join their email list. this is one of my favorite stores to go to. i don't necessarily buy a whole lot there though i have gotten a few great things. i like it b/c unlike other cool, pricey boutique type stores (think fred segal types), this place has a better edited collection of clothes in a smaller space and has really nice, friendly sales people. it's also in walking distance of lots of other cool shops, cafes, and restaurants on third - one of my favorite streets for this type of activity! the dressing room situation stinks because there are no mirrors in the rooms so you are forced to come our and parade the outfits for all to see, which is a down side but not a huge one. parking on this street is majorly difficult, also. be prepared for a bit of a search or a bit of a hike. tips: * sign up for their email list. you get notices of special sales and trunk shows. * get one of the cards that marks off how much you spend. you get a stamp for every certain amount of dollars that you spend and once you get to a certain amount, you get credit on your next purchase for a certain dollar value (sorry - i'm blanking on the specifics because sadly, i can't go often enough!!!). read more

I hadn't stopped by P&M in over ten years - ever since the dawn of eBay, I've done my vintage dress buying online. But I stopped in last weekend and was pleasantly surprised to see that while still on the spendy side, their prices haven't gone up much since the 1990s! And unlike most "vintage" places, which have gone over to the 1980s dark side, P&M still has a good selection of "real" vintage, 1960s and older. read more

Very disappointing. I bought a pair of loose shorts at the beginning of the month and after one wear, I came home to find one small tear in the seam and one huge tear in the seam on the other side of the shorts. I loved the style of the shorts but this was extremely upsetting. I took them back to the store, and the manager explained she could not help me at all. The shorts were on sale, and all sale items were final sale, however, she refused to help me with a return, store credit or exchange even with the original receipt. I have worked in sales and would never refuse a return from a costumer, especially when it comes to a damaged item.
