I was recommended to stop by the shop as I'm looking for a prom dress for my daughter, she's into 1930s 40s and 50s clothing. This place is a treasure trove, the sales girl was so helpful. She was looking for the perfect dress. We tried on so many dresses we found one at the time my daughter did you think about it? We came back the following week. The dress was still there and she's very happy and excited to be wearing a vintage dress to prom. We found parking right out front both times that we were there. It's metered parking in one day. We went on a Sunday so we didn't have to pay for anything. The dresses are pricey, but these are one of a kind hard to find and many in great condition if not mint condition. read more

When you think of great LA second-hand stores that have an eclectic diverse collection, Cannonball and Tilly should be at the top of your list. Though the space isn't that big, there is a huge selection of clothing sectioned by era (60's/70's etc.). As far as pricing, I think the curation is actually priced quite fairly. The owners are clearly dedicated to delivering a great shopping experience for any and everyone because there's a bit of everything in there. I spent a few hours here earlier today and had such a remarkable shopping experience, I will definitely be coming back. From the moment I walked in, Carissa was incredibly friendly and helpful, walking through the store with me pulling out pieces she thought I'd like. On my way out I met the owner Laura/Lara, and she was also incredibly welcoming and friendly. I was looking for a gift for my girlfriend (an avid thrifter) and was a bit overwhelmed by the sheer amount of inventory and sizing for her given the complexities of the designs. Thankfully, the stylist on duty, Silvana, was incredibly helpful and spent almost an hour guiding me through various options to identify the perfect dress for her. My friend and I were driving around and spotted this vintage shop among a row of Ethiopian restaurants. The owner explained that this area used to be more antique stores and this store was a clothing boutique run by a Hollywood costume designer, and true to its roots, more vintage and clothing shops are returning to this area. But Cannonball and Tilly is worth a visit. I took some photos of gauzy classical maxi dresses that would be beautiful bridesmaid, prom, formal or wedding gowns, and it was gracious of the owner to allow me, because she doesn't usually. (I think there is an issue with designers copying.) I also bought a pair of hook and feather beaded shoulder duster earrings inspired by a Brazilian singer's from the 70s. read more

Beyond over priced and didn't see anything earlier than 1960s (not that I mind, just stating facts). I was ignored by the middle aged woman working there who couldn't stop scrolling on her phone long enough to look up except to say hello and goodbye. Additionally, none of the pieces seemed to have been laundered in any capacity after being sourced. Again not a big deal if you're charing thrift store prices but this places charges prices I expect to see at The Way We Wore, whose presentation and selection is lightyears beyond. I have been a long time shopper of Cannonball and Tilly. I mean for maybe 5 years. Ive never taken the time to really write a long review but I now must just say that this store is absolutely ridiculously amazing. The owner Laura is so good and so honest. There were pieces I wanted to get and she said NO... you can't buy it the inseam is too long on you. I said.... I'm going to get it anyway. She is always so incredibly helpful, the prices are reasonable for what they have that is incredible. I mean .... the stuff is BONKERS! I just can't say enough about it. Last night I got about 15 dresses or pieces. Laura worked with me so much to help me hide my Covid 19 30 pound weight gain. One other thing... Laura shops constantly to make sure she always has the absolute coolest pieces! Thanks for giving me some life back! You guys are the best! read more

Wow is all I can say. It takes a lot for a vintage shop to really blow me away, but this place just appeared and it's like my fantasy dream closet has manifested itself on Fairfax Ave! Not like any store in town as not one piece in there is filler, every item is a showpiece! And unlike most of the westside-pretty vintage stores to the north, the prices are actually affordable, reasonable even! I've been collecting vintage for decades and have shopped just about every store in LA at some point in my career as a stylist. This new shop is quite honestly my favorite in the city currently. It is jam packed with the finest curated pieces I've ever seen. The owner has an amazing eye for beautiful, colorful, whimsical, fun, couture, designer vintage clothing, jewelry and accessories. She's also an amazing designer and every piece she makes is suitable for magazine Editorial. Fabulous big collars and head pieces for brides to name just a few. Everything in the shop is drool worthy. Some of the space is shared with a few other sellers who offer up their very best pieces as well. The owner here has the most amazing eye for mid century fashion in all it's wild , wacky and wonderful glory . I bought 2 early 70's chic princess line brocade coats (very well priced ),as well as a glorious 70's travel bag in zig zag 'seventies does deco' velveteen stripes. The selection of dresses is huge - twenties through eighties with a leaning toward boldly printed and embroidered maxi dresses and fluttery floral disco frocks . Accessories are exotic and artful statement pieces also very well priced . I thought I had found my Vintage Nirvana ..........but I don't even think I will go back anytime soon since I have been 3 times recently and spent over $400 and each time the young saleswoman has been equally unhelpful and rude . It's a real shame . The first time I went I was so excited I had an armload of items before she ever bothered to ask if I needed a fitting room . Then I pulled a few heavy coats to slip over my outfit and found I had no place to hang them ( she never offered to take them from me or help )so I carefully laid them over an ottoman as I tried on . Finally she came back only to grab them from the ottoman and say I was wrinkling them up ! The next time I came I bought 2 jackets (also with no assistance from her) . I was checking out and had mentioned I was in a hurry to pick up a cake at the bakery before they closed. But I saw a dress at last moment I asked to try on . She said sure and I quickly slipped it on , finding it too small . I hung it up and handed it back to her . Then she complained I had hung it inside out and she stopped ringing me up and made a huge show out of rehanging the dress and fussing with the ties ( it was a wrap dress ) FOREVER . I assume she was trying to point out that I had not hung it up properly ...... I was spending $300 and I was in a rush . Plus hanging clothes after customers is kind of ..... Her job ?!?!?! Anyway , third time I went , reluctantly, because I assume she would be there , because the owner had just come back from a buying trip . Instead of being polite and greeting me and telling me a little of what was new , she just sat there as I looked around and finally asked about the new pieces . She just said they were all mixed in and offered zero assistance or pleasantness ..... I have seen here be helpful to some other customers so maybe it's just me . But if this amazing store is trying to maximize it's sales , maybe they should find a salesgirl who is actually helpful, pleasant , or at least not out and out rude . I really want to shop there but at this point this sales clerk just makes me feel uncomfortable . Wish they had someone nicer . read more

While they do have some cool but extremely overpriced vintage clothing, beware of their unethical business practices. They have a sales rack outside their store advertising "everything" on the rack as being 50% off the ticket price. I found a cool vintage dress with a $20 tag on it. I went to purchase it and the clerk rang it up at $20. When I pointed out to her that it was on the 50% off rack, she informed me that only the items with a green dot on the tags were 50% off. Less than half the items on the rack had a green dot on them. All the rest of the items, although advertised as being 50% off, were still full price. The clerk even tried to weasel her way out of it by claiming that the $20 price was the half price although there was no $40 tag on the dress. Shady, deceptive and perhaps even illegal business practice by not honoring the 50% off. Buyers beware! read more

Leathers, fine embroidery, quality costume jewelry, and all of your dream shoes crammed into one tiny store and yet beautifully, inspiringly displayed. I went out of my way to stop by this unique shop, because it came highly recommended by a celebrity client's daughter. I was excited to see what treasures I might find for an upcoming Studio 54 themed party. My shopping experience was soured when I asked the store owner if they offer rental options - she was frosty & vague with her reply saying it's a case by case decision. I continued looking around and found an interesting white tiger sequin top that I wanted to show my partner over FaceTime who was at work, only to be barked at by the store owner about taking photos & recordings. I was sooo ready to spend, but not with such attitude. The store did have some interesting items and a great selection of sun glasses for $12, but the store owner was soo off-putting that I'd rather give my money to Amazon than support a crusty local shop owner. I bought two and felt instantly transported to 1968, lounging on a Moroccan carpet with Brion Gysin and William Burroughs, staring at the dreamachine. This boutique is waaaay overpriced! Much of what's in the store can be purchased from Good Will or Salavarion Army for a tiny fraction of what she charges. What's worse is that I found many of her items with stains and holes. When I shop vintage at the very least I expect the items to be clean. Not worth returning. read more
