Great patio and outdoor bar in Vinton! Cheap option with full bar and bites as well as large lunch options that felt fresh and satisfying. Loved the ambiance and the speed of service. Can't wait to return at night!

I found this eatery to be quite a pleasing surprise during my stay here in Vinton, VA. I will divide my review into multiple parts for ease of perusal. Food: I ordered the steak nachos and I was given so much I could barely finish them! The steak was well-cooked as requested and the flatbread was decent. On my second visit, I ordered a philly burger, a small basket of fries and a mix of orange juice and lemonade. The philly burger I ordered was large and very filling, even to a man like me who is constantly on the move. The hamburger was nice and hot, the vegetables retained their texture and the cheese was definitely noticeable. I felt like the hamburger was balanced in its flavourings and was an enjoyable experience. The fries I ordered were thick, but not overly so. They were hot, crisp and tempted me to order a large basket of them due to how enjoyable they were. I would recommend them absolutely to interested parties. Overall, I feel the price for the amount/size and quality of the nachos and philly burger was worth it and would recommend these items to a hungry traveler or local citizen looking for a filling meal. While I have not indulged in the wine offerings as of yet, they offer a good selection of beverages as well as a Autumn-themed drink menu. Ambiance, et. al: In regards to the restaurant itself, the lighting, seat spacing, and friendly and attentive staff give the restaurant a relaxed and welcoming ambience. Having eaten here twice, I would recommend dropping by if you're ever in the area and partaking of the offerings given by this establishment.

I'm always intrigued by new restaurants popping up in towns like Vinton. They contribute to the quality of life of the people who live there and in the surroundings. So last Friday, I decided to go visit and try out Pollard 107 South Restaurant, which opened not that long ago in the space where a community theater that was no longer active was located. After driving by the place several times, I was impressed by the total renovation and modern design of the building. The black and red colors of the restaurant gave it a modern, sofisticated, yet casual feel. When I first entered the restaurant through the front door, the first thing I saw was a simple yet beautifully designed host station. On the left was the main dining area with tables on one side and booths on the other. Separated by a wall with large windows was the bar area also a dining area with high tables and chairs. This area also had a pool table and an outdoor area as well for networking events could take place. The bar area was packed with people drinking and some eating as well. The main dining area was beginning to fill up when I got there but not as crowded as the bar. As the host greeted me and took me to my table, I noticed the high exposed ceiling that gave the place some character and at the same time a casual and relaxed feeling. The waitress came and greeted me right away as I sat with the menu. I ordered a Caesar salad to start with, and as an appetizer, the Coconut Shrimp. As my main entrée I ordered the Grilled Teriyaki Chicken that came on a bed of pineapple fried rice. The waitress first brought me the Caesar Salad, and it tasted very good and was served in a black square bowl. Soon after that, she brought me the Coconut Shrimp. The outside was nice and crispy, but the shrimps themselves were tough as if they had been frozen for a long time. I still had not finished eating half of the appetizer when the waitress brought out the main entrée. By the time I got to eating it, the rice was lukewarm, and parts of it had gone cold. The chicken itself was hot and tasted good. I felt the cooking staff and serving staff needed to have better communication and coordination, and management should train them better and help facilitate this. When I asked for the dessert menu, my waitress told me they didn't have one and that they only had cheesecake with a choice of syrup toppings. I chose the chocolate topping. The cheesecake was soft and tasty, but I felt the choice of dessert was limited. It is a pity because I loved the building atmosphere. I believe that if management focused more on the quality of the food and the serving timing, this place could be more inviting and successful. After all, it is the food and the service the two main areas that attract us to go eat in one place other than another. I applaud the ingenuity the owners had of opening this restaurant bar, and I encourage you to go try it out. But in the long run, it will be the way the owner and manager deal with the issues such as the ones that I brought up in this review that will determine the restaurant's future.

My wife and I tried this place out at first when we called they said that they were booked up, but we went anyway to check out the bar and found out that they have a small dining area that separated from the bar. I guess to be quieter, we chose to sit in the bar area because we would like that type of environment. They have a really nice outdoor area. The place seem to be decorated nice and was clean, all the servers that we talked to were very nice and friendly and the food on the menu was good. We ordered some appetizers and drinks. Their appetizers are really nice.

It is a new restaurant so it has a few kinks to work out. They are still waiting for their liquor license but they will have a full bar. The hosts were friendly and we were seated quickly. Brooke our waitress was fast and friendly and made sure our drinks were never empty and the food arrived fresh and hot. The appetizer was out quickly and had great flavor and the two dipping sauces were both excellent compliments to the peppers. I had the shrimp and grits and I can say finally someone knows how to make grits. My guest had the New York Strip and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The only downside to our whole experience would have to be the parking situation, but I would not let that deter you from eating here. I promise the food and service are superb. The place is beautifully decorated and the place is clean and well lit. The noise level is what you would expect for an open restaurant with high ceilings. Will definitely be back to try more menu items.

We were driving through the area and this place caught our attention at the intersection of Gus Nicks Blvd & S Pollard St. We parked behind building and walked around the block. We sat outside for lunch and enjoyed the nice afternoon sunshine. We also had our dog with us, which they were very accommodating so the patio setting was perfect! Service was quick, attentive, and overall great experience. The food was delicious; we had the steak and cheese sandwich, steak burger, and salad with chicken. All three meals were very good, plentiful and the fries with the sandwiches were top notch. When I found out the cheesecake is made on premise, we ordered it. WOW!! If you're a cheesecake lover, this is a great place to grab a piece. This is a new place; clean, friendly, and restrooms are nice. We will be back, next time for dinner!

This is a low key fun hangout. So many good food options and a great price range! If you want the best service, sit at the bar and ask for Ed or Shane. They will give you amazing attention!

Service was good. Had two lovely servers taking care of us and bringing our beers, didn't bring us waters but we didn't ask so let's just say we're a little hungover today . It's nice to see a new restaurant in Vinton and we were excited to support but quite frankly it was not good. We had a good sized party and I don't think one person enjoyed their food. They brought me the wrong food altogether and there were several errors and omissions among the rest of our orders. Nice outdoor seating and fire pit but the ambiance was off, seems like they couldn't pick a concept. Weird rift between steakhouse and sports bar. Music playing was weird too, vans warped tour kinda playlist

    Restaurant area wonderful wait staff

The food was good and the service was fantastic. Grace D made us feel welcome and was attentive and had us leaving with smiles on our faces

I invite you to go back and read that significant review accompanied by some of my photographs of the restaurant and its food. It is extremely rare for one to have had the opportunity to follow a restaurant from such an early stage. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that it would be appropriate this year to go back to this restaurant and write a follow-up review, since my initial review was one of my reviews that contributed to me obtaining this highly esteemed Award. Argentinian people are known for their love of eating. Social gatherings are commonly centred on sharing a meal. Invitations to have dinner at home are generally viewed as a symbol of friendship, warmth, and togetherness. This in particular reflects the significance of this family-owned restaurant's name: Familia Argentina. This Argentinian family is opening its doors not only to share its food with their customers, which is one of the things they are most proud of from their culture, but also to share their friendship with all of us, since homemade food is seen as a way to show affection to their guests. When you think of Argentinian cuisine, the first thing you think of is steak. That is why I was happy to see that they have expanded their menu with different kinds of steaks, such as skirt steak. NY Strip, Ribeye, and Ribs. They also now have in their menu, their famous "Parrillada Argentina," which is a combination of Skirt Steak, Ribbs, and Chorizo, totaling over than 1lb of meat. Some of their other very popular menu items include their Beef Tenderloin Sandwiches and their Choripan with Chimichurri sauce. Their new menu also include a page of Lunch Special and a few delicious desserts. As a matter of fact the cover photograph of their Yelp page is one of my photographs of their Creamy Strawberry dessert. Today I arrived for an early dinner and received a warm welcome by the wife and co-owner of the restaurant. We talked for a while about the restaurant's progress and I complimented them on their new expanded menu. I had already visited the restaurant right after the new menu was brought out and had tried out their delicious "Parrillada Argentina" main course and their Creamy Strawberry dessert of which I was surprised by its creamy richness. After we stopped talking and catching up with things, I ordered two Ground beef and one Knief-Cut Meat empanadas as appetizer, and a Beef Milanesa a Caballo. I love this dish, because it reminded me so much of the "Bistec Empanisado" (Cuban Breaded Steak, a type of Country Fried Steak) my grandmother used to make me when I was growing up in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The "A Caballo" part meant it came with two fried eggs on top. It was served with fries, and was practically the size of the dish it was served in. To drink I ordered a Dr. Pepper. Good thing I had skipped lunch that day because I was able to eat the whole thing, and I enjoyed it all the way. With lemon juice on top, that steak tasted amazing. However, I was so full that I skipped dessert. While dining, I forgot to mention that the husband, chef, and co-owner of the restaurant also came out to say hello. I had also met him the first time I came by the restaurant and had given him some suggestions. Such as placing larger photographs of the main menu items on one of the front windows to familiarize the public with Argentinian cuisine. In conclusion, once again I had a wonderful dining experience at this relatively new restaurant. Loved those tasty Empanadas and the Breaded Steak with Fried Eggs on top. I highly encourage you all to go try this family-restaurant out and give them your full support. I can assure you that you'll be glad you did.

And every time I return, I keep wanting to come back for more. Located on the 6th and 7th floors of the Center in the Square building, this restaurant provides an elegant yet relaxed ambiance in which to enjoy an exceptional dining experience. Today I made an early dinner reservation on my OpenTable app for 4:45PM, asking to be seated at the same table that I always seat at if it's available. After parking my pearl white Lexus at the Center in the Square Garage, conveniently located next to the building where the restaurant is located, I went through a connecting door and took the elevator to the 6th floor. Once inside the restaurant, two friendly young ladies greated me at the Host's station and one of them remembered which was my favorite table and took me there. Soon afterwards the manager saw me and gracefully came by to say hello and thank me for coming to dine there. I responded with: "It's always a pleasure to do so." Not long afterwards my server Sam, another friendly and very efficient young lady, came by to greet me and take my order. To drink I had a Bees Knees Mocktail. They make the best cocktails there. That's why the bar is always full. To dine I started off with a Steakhouse Wedge Salad, followed by a Shrimp Cocktail, and then by the main course: a Filet Mignon cooked medium-rare, with a Grilled Lobster Tail Steak Enhancement. I asked for everything to be spaced appropriately and my server made sure that they were. The Steakhouse Wedge Salad was delicious with bacon lardons, cherry tomatoes, red onions, gorgonzola, and with house-made buttermilk herb dressing. The Shrimp Cocktail was amazing. It had 1/2 Lb. of poached and chilled fresh Jumbo Shrimps with Cocktail sauce and a slice of lemon. And the main meal was extraordinary. The Filet Mignon was cooked medium-rare to perfection and the Lobster Tail enhancement was just the right size of tender lobster meat removed from the shell and served with a little bowl of melted butter. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the high-quality food, well prepared. My server came by at the right moments to check on me, and the manager also came by my table to give me a visit and make sure all was to my satisfaction. For the Grand Finale I ordered the Bananas Fosters Beignets dessert: a fresh Croissant dough with Caramelized Bananas, served with vanilla ice-cream and Brown Sugar Caramel. Everything tasted amazingly delicious and I was able to enjoy an extraordinary dining experience. I highly recommend that you try this place out. A Hanger steak is a long, flat, flavorful cut reminiscent of flank steak and skirt steak, only more tender. In the US, hanger steak is most commonly called "hanging tender" or "butcher's steak." It gets the latter nickname because it was historically a "secret" cut that butchers would keep for themselves rather than sell to the public. Other names you might see on menus for this cut are Hanging tenderloin and Bistro steak. All that I know is that it's the best piece of meat that I have ever eaten and it has been at this restaurant. So that was the main reason I came to dine here today and my expectations were completely fulfilled. When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly, young lady with the warm welcoming of a regular guest. She happily took me to the table I had requested when I made my reservation online. It was a table facing the bar with their open kitchen on the right of me. I like to watch the bartenders and chefs in action as they create their amazing drinks and culinary masterpieces. Immediately after I was seated my server Tim came by with the usual familiar greeting, welcoming me once again for returning to dine there and thanking me for being such a loyal customer. I had the usual cold water and this time started off with one of their Butterfly Kisses Mocktails. It both looked and tasted amazing. My friend and I walked in at 9 o'clock EXACTLY on a Thursday night to have a drink. The sign on the door said they were open until 10:00. There were 4 or 5 tables seated, enjoying dinner and cocktails. 5 or 6 people at the bar. There was no one to start with at the actual hostess stand and servers saw us standing at the door but did not approach us even though there was an hour left on their operating time. So we walked directly to the bar and sat down. We had just eaten at Fork in the Alley so all we wanted was one drink and we figured an hour was plenty of time to get that done. The first thing the bartender said to us was "The kitchen is closed." Not "hello" or "Hey what can I get you?" but the kitchen is closed. I said "oh I'm sorry I thought you closed at 10:00." He said "well, that's up for debate we were actually discussing that right now. We're basically closed but you can have a drink because it's not like the rest of these people are going anywhere." What do you mean that's up for discussion? Your hours say you're open till 10 o'clock, it's 9 o'clock I have an hour to eat and have drinks! The other bartender, or perhaps he was only a bar back, gave us a very disapproving look. I get it, I work in the food service industry. I'm a server at a 4 diamond restaurant, and I hate when people walk in minutes before we close and want to sit down. But if we post that we're open until 10 and you walk in at 9:45 I'm going to serve you and treat you like anyone else that walked in at 6:00 because it's your tips that pay my bills and put food on my table. It's definitely not the hourly wage I get from my employer! And as a server I never walk into a restaurant with less than 30 minutes to close. And it's more like an hour if I'm looking to eat a meal. I know you want to go home. When it's the end of the night and I'm at work, so do I! But there's an hour left and I wanted one drink. That's it! We continued to get disappointed looks from a few other employees even though we weren't the last people in the place. I told my friend (it's 9:45 at this point) that we obviously need to go since servers are standing around looking at us like we've got the plague. We paid our bill and promptly left. Two couples still at the bar. It's 9:59 right now as I'm writing this at home (you're still technically open btw) but I left feeling like I had stayed hours past your closing time. It's a real shame because we really enjoyed our drinks! They were super yummy! And I'm always getting asked by guests where's a good place for a late night cocktail and I used to recommend The River and Rail right along with Lucky's because we had a shuttle that would take guests out, but after tonight I won't be doing that anymore. Because there's nothing worse than feeling unwelcome at a restaurant that is still open.

I was disappointed because I was hoping to try a soup or scallops I'd seen in Yelp pics but they weren't in the menu this time. Which is the roll of the dice you pay for fresh creative menus. Dining area and bar have a nice vibe with attractive art work. Dim lighting and smaller tables make it cute for a date or a solo business diner like myself. The lucky cube drink was creative and tasty. Brussel sprouts were also unique with a tahini sauce on top and perfectly crispy chickpeas. I'd seen "Smoke in Chimneys Trout" on a few menus in Roanoke this trip but never heard of that before. Looked it up and learned something new. They are trout that are local and prized for living in a lime stone aquifer rather than a river. Giving them a clean light slightly sweet taste, no essence of mud that can come with other river fish. I've never ordered trout in a restaurant, But when in Rome... Lol. The fish itself and the portion was really good. Wish I could remember my waitress' name. She was knowledgeable and just had a really warm, friendly energy.

Just the other day I attended a local party where they served Marco's Pizzas, and there I…read morerediscovered the amazing flavor of the pizzas from this contemporary pizza chain, which I had the privilege of reviewing when it first opened in Vinton, Virginia, more than a year ago. Marco's Pizza is a counter-serve chain with a menu of specialty or custom pizzas for takeout or delivery, located in the popular Lake Drive Plaza in Vinton. Then last Friday, I had the urge to eat their pizza once more, opened their app in my cellphone, and noticed all the exciting unique features that their app had, such as the "light bake," if you like the crust to come out lighter and softer than the usual. The first thing I did was select from one of their deal offers: "$3 Off Any Specialty Pizza." Then I picked their "The Works" Specialty Pizza, medium size, with regular crust and light bake. It contained Pepperoni, ham, green peppers, Italian sausage, mushrooms, bacon, and onions. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a sense of the high-quality of their pizzas and ingredients. It was so easy and convenient, ordering it on their app for delivery. And not only did I get Marco's Rewards points for the order, but I also automatically got 30 points for $1 spent at the Fetch app. The pizza was delivered at the time promised by a very friendly and efficient driver by the name of Roxy. It was handled very well and was delivered out of a keep-warm special container in a quality box with Marco's Pizza logo and a professional photo of a pizza printed on the box. There are times like this one when you enjoy ordering out and eating in the comfort of your home. And that is precisely what I did. I opened the box saw those amazing hot slices filled with a generous portionof high-quality toppings. I placed a couple of slices on a plate, went and sat down in my comfortable recliner, and enjoyed eating the slices while watching my large screen Sony BRAVIA TV which stands for "Best Resolution Audio Visual Integrated Architecture." I loved the taste and texture of their crust, and all of the ingredients on the pizza were so fresh and tasty. I highly recommend this pizza shop for there delicious pizzas and other high-quality items in their menu, easy ordering system from their app, and friendly and efficient customer service and delivery.

My husband and I have found our new favorite pizza restaurant. Great sauce, good cheese and a real pizza crust. The service was great, the folks that work there are very nice and friendly. I don't mind take-out or carryout, it's convenient for us. Oh and the prices are good, better than their competitors in the area, I truly recommend this pizza and calozones. Fabulous

People ask me all the time: "What is your favorite restaurant in Roanoke, Virginia?" And my reply,…read moreafter considering all of the wonderful restaurants in this Star City is ... "Billy's", in the heart of Downtown Roanoke. After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I also was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Billy's in Downtown Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. From the very first time I visited and dined at Billy's, I fell in love with it. I don't know if it was its history. Its historic building was constructed in 1912 and originally housed the Ritz Hotel. Then in 1979 John and Betsy Williams opened "Billy Ritz," named in homage to the building's history and a former local saloon. For 29 years (1979 - 2007) the Williamses operated the restaurant, making it a popular downtown fixture. In 2007 the restaurant closed and in 2008 the building was purchased by new owners: Neel and Neal Keesee. Following extensive renovations that preserved its historic character, the restaurant reopened in May 2012 as "Billy's". And since then Billy's operates as a popular downtown dining spot with a focus on fine dining, and is celebrated for maintaining a piece of old downtown Roanoke history while providing modern, upscale dining. Or maybe it is, its refined American cuisine with a focus on steaks and fresh seafood, such as scallops, shrimps, lobsters, mahi-mahi, southern salmon, or catch of the day. Or its drinks, a well-curated bourbon bar with an extensive wine list and signature cocktails. It might also be its elegant and historic atmosphere, with a clasic dining room, a trendy outdoor patio, and private dining rooms to host private events and celebrations. Or even its corner location in one of the most valuable and desired areas in the heart of Downtown Roanoke. But even if all of the above are an important factor in my selection, I would say that last but most important of all is its staff; from its managers, its cooks, its bartenders, and its servers. They are not only knowledgeable, professional, and hospitable, but together form a team with the goal of making you feel at home there and having an extraordinary dining experience. That's why I say: "Any day can be made special by dining at Billy's." This Saturday, I went to dine there after making my reservation in the Open Table app. Even though they could not honor my initial table request for a window view table in the main dining room, the manager was kind enough to accommodate me at a window view table of another very quaint dining room facing the outdoor patio. I believe it was table 54, served by the very friendly, kind, and efficient server, Savannah. She first brought me an amazing drink prepared by my favorite bartender. Then she gracefully took my order. I had Four Bacon Wrapped Scallops as appetizer. An 8oz Filet cooked medium-rare with a Lobster Tail enhancement, Cheddar Smashed Potatoes, and Grilled Asparagus, as my main entrée. And for dessert, my favorite, their famous Crème Brûlée. She did an excellent job in making sure I was well taken care of by coming by at the appropriate times and even when she was serving a large table in the main dining room, she made sure to send the principal host to see if I needed anything. As I was dining, the restaurant's manager came by my table to say hello, and that is something I truly appreciate from any quality restaurant I dine at. What an outstanding dining experience. And even if I was only one customer dining there that busy evening, the following day I received a text message from one of my fellow Yelpers who was in town for a week of conferences and was looking for a place for a "friends' get-together. And without any hesitation I recommended Billy's. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a good word is worth many customers. And thus, I give this restaurant a 5 Star and now you know why.

She was very cheerful and friendly.I liked how there is actually space between the tables . The restaurant is spacious and nicely decorated. Our waitress Melissa was excellent. She had some great suggestions on what to try as we were first time guests. The calamari was fresh and crunchy. The glazed bacon was delicious. The lamb chop lollipops were ok, too raw. Caesar salad was tasty and one order is enough for 4 people. My NY strip steak was tender and cooked to perfection. I tried a side of risotto and was definitely not disappointed. I find they have a good selection of wines as well. Billy's is definitely a great choice for a nice dinner!
