My sister and I stopped at Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint in Roanoke after two ladies at the L&L shop downtown recommended it, and it turned out to be an amazing experience. The place is small but quaint, with dim lighting, a full bar, and a fun mix of music genres that keeps the vibe relaxed but lively. I ordered the Gregg Brady, and my sister had the Doctor Gozo, both made with 100% Wagyu beef. You can taste the quality immediately. I added mushrooms and grilled onions for a small extra fee, and had my BBQ chips that come on it, on the side. We shared the crinkle‑cut fries, which came with their incredible house sauce. The sauce was so good I asked if they sold it, they do not, but the waitress sent me home with some samples for free. Service was fast and friendly. The waitresses were dressed in black tank tops, black shorts, and black shoes, and every one of them worked with a smile, like they were glad you came. The restaurant entrance itself is handicap accessible, but the bathrooms are not, they're very clean but also very small and too tight for a wheelchair to fit inside. One of the coolest things about Jack Brown's is their Beer Club. If you drink 100 different beers, you become a "Notcher." If you drink 1,000, different beers you become a "Saint." On Saint's Day, Saints get all food and drinks free, unlimited, with no tab. It's a huge part of their culture and adds to the fun, and a loyal community. Overall, the food was phenomenal, the staff went above and beyond, and the atmosphere made the whole visit top notch. I will definitely be coming back the next time I roll through this part of town. My sister ordered the Greg Brady and I had the Dr. Gonzo -- both burgers were delicious! The burgers are made with Wagyu beef, and while you can get a "regular" burger here, the specialty burgers are creative, varied, and definitely worth exploring. The crinkle-cut fries were good too, but one of the stars of the show was their house sauce -- a mayo-based sauce with herbs and spices that was so tasty we had to get some to go. Service was prompt and friendly, and for those so inclined, there's also a great selection of specialty beers. The atmosphere is fun and memorable -- the rock 'n' roll was loud enough to add energy but not so loud that we couldn't have a conversation. The decor is quirky and kitschy (think a skeleton on a bicycle and a chandelier made entirely of bras). The couple behind us also enjoyed their selections, with "The Elvis" being a standout. Even though it came highly recommended, I just can't bring myself to put peanut butter on my hamburger. One taste and you are in love! The service is attentive and friendly as the restaurant itself is decorative and pleasant to enjoy yourself within! First time at this location for Jack Browns which is store #2 in the chain. I had on my list the last visit and did not make it. They were packed before 5 PM on a Friday. But honestly the place is tiny. My visit with wife was brief by design. We sat at the bar and got cheeseburgers and water to move onto something else planned. Amazing service from multiple staff and yum burgers. Easy checkout and decent value. Hopefully a return visit next year and I can enjoy more of the menu. Stopped in for a burger one night late while we were in town. This place is very popular with the locals and it was busy the night of our visit. We sat at the far end of the bar, the grill end, as there were literally no open places to be had otherwise. This little joint is busy. An old style shotgun building an eclectic interior with a long bar and stools, a few small tables with chairs along the opposite wall, along with a couple tables and chairs out front on each side of the entry. We were greeted by the door guy entering, ID is required to enter. Our bartender took our orders for food and got us a couple libations. It wasn't long and our burgers were done. The cheeseburger was okay, a little on the dry side (overcooked) but at the late hour and I was hungry. It served its purpose. Service was okay. Since I had read this was a dive bar, I was fully expecting cold, spotty service like I've experienced in other places. I couldn't have been more wrong! We were greeted right off the bat and the bartenders were so friendly. I loved the funky atmosphere that felt sort of steampunk to me. And the burgers were incredible. I got one of the most unique combos I've seen which was a burger topped with house made mac n cheese, potato chips and bbq sauce. Their jacked up fries are also great and taste like animal fries on steroids. They have several craft beers on tap and beers from all over the country in cans. I've been to several cities with a Jack Browns, but never went... until today when I stopped in for lunch. It's a dive bar which seems to specialize in beer with burgers being the food they offer. Their food choices are literally limited to burgers and fries (and fried Oreos for dessert). They do have an impressive list of burgers though, the toppings are unique and fun. I tried their Shocker burger, but got the habaneros on the side and whoa... it was really good, tasty, and plenty spicy without those habaneros! Loved the bun and the sauce too. This place is recommended to me on a trip up to Roanoke this past week. I decide to stop in this place was perfect atmosphere was unbelievable. The service was great. Original themed burgers with amazing flavor. I'm a huge fan of the Elvis burger. Who would have thought that peanut butter would work on a beef patty. Mmm! The sweet potato fries are on point also check out the deep fried Oreos! There is a full bar with several craft beers. Service is pretty good, I've only been in here during week day lunch times so it's always full and you can get a quick delicious meal. The ambiance is casual with a lot of fun things on the walls to check out (stickers, Knick knacks, art, etc). The restaurant is relatively small, so it's not great for large groups. On a miserable rainy afternoon - nothing is better then a darkened pub serving great food. We popped in out of the rain into a lively decorated space with amazing staff. We ordered burgers, fries to share and 2 beers. The burgers were smashed perfectly. They were tasty with the right amount of crunch on the edges. Plenty of toppings too. Each day they have a "special" burger. The day we stopped in was a Thursday and the burger had Pimento Cheese on it. It was perfect! Fries were crispy and not greasy. For some time now, I have been wanting to visit this small restaurant front, practically in the center of downtown Roanoke. Business concept created by two childhood best friends who, at an early age, collected beer cans, and while older, they took action to make their dream come true. With over 100 craft beers,100% Wagyu Beef burgers, Yukon Gold fries, and deep fried Oreos, in a very informal and relaxed atmosphere, the founder's goal of providing people with a good time and striving to give them an experience they will never forget has materialized here. As I arrived and entered the place, not knowing what I would find inside, of this simple yet complex, little restaurant bar, that of all things called itself "Joint." I was surprised with the eclectic decor of the place. A friendly server greeted me right away and asked me to sit wherever I wanted. The two options were on a stool in front of the bar or on a stool in front of a high table next to a red brick wall. I opted for the second. My server arrived shortly after and gave me a warm welcome that made me feel at home right away. As I am not a lover of beers, I ordered a glass of sweet iced tea to drink and a Jack Bondurant Burger. This was a burger topped with Applewood Smoked Bacon, Sunnyside up egg and America cheese. With it, I ordered a side of fries. Behind the bar and at the end was a large grill where the food was cooked. When the burger arrived, it was cooked well done, and the pattie was not so big nor wide. The burger bun was also on the small size but soft and fresh, and the bacon was already cooked ahead of time, just reheated, and the egg was well cooked, not Sunnyside up. It was served inside a basket together with the fries, yet each was charged with a separate charge. It is said that good things come in small sizes, and this was true in this case as well. The burger tasted delicious, and the fries were hot and fresh. As I was eating, customers walked in and out. Some sat in the bar for some time. Others came with friends to enjoy some time eating and chatting. I could not leave without trying their fried Oreos. So I asked for an order of three. They tasted freshly fried and delicious. Overall, I enjoyed this one of a kind dining experience and would recommend it for a quick lunch or dinner in a friendly place that you can enjoy alone or with friends. read more

I really don't see what all the hype is about went at 3 PM on a Saturday and it was super crowded. Me and my husband sat at the bar which definitely would not be our choice. The music was so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves talk or when the waitresses would try to talk to us. The burger was very average and the fries just taste like they're out of a bag. The first night I ordered, I had ordered The Greg Brady (had potato chips and Mac and cheese on the burger) with a side of sweet potato fries. Came in around 11:45 PM on a Thursday night for a drink and a bite, since most other places were closed. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by Mollie, who was super friendly, and was very tentative throughout the whole n I'm not sure what they're putting in these burgers, but before i even finished the one in my hand, (which was the "Dr.Gonzo", definitely recommend by the way) I was already looking at the menu and trying to talk myself from ordering another! The vibe of this place is awesome, that cozy feeling but still very lively. They don't have a full bar, it's mostly beers and canned cocktails, but I think that helps keep the vibe and keeps it from getting super rowdy. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for a late night bite/drink. I know I will be back again when I'm in the area, regardless of the time of day! read more
