    Drinks!

Flavorful!!! But cold!!! I got a two piece with a breast and cole slaw. The food was very flavorful. I really liked the presentation which was on a real plate with three limes. The cole slaw was good, but could have had less mayo. I asked for a cup for water and they apologized and said that they don't do that. It is a little rough looking of a neighborhood, so maybe people steal soda if given a cup. No big deal, I just grabbed my bottle of water out of my car. This is the first time that I have tried a Pollo Campero, and I am pretty sure that it will be my last. My chicken was barely above room temperature. There is no excuse for cold chicken at 12:50 pm. I was pleasantly surprised that there is a check-in offer here. They only have flan, no tres leches cake. But the flan was delicious!! I was very happy with it. But not enough to raise my review above 3 stars.

Great citrus flavor but barely any meat

So what would make me travel 30 plus minutes into Trenton besides spending time with my family? Of course fried chicken! This is a small, expanding Central American chain. It has been over a decade since I last visited Central America but I was able to reminisce (a little) on this visit. Now on to the food. I really wish the American version included the kick of spice that is included in the original Central American recipe. I also see they make it a point to advertise they use hormone-free chicken which I appreciate. However, there is barely any white meat to this citrus fried chicken, just crunchy skin. The sides are okay I would get the french fries and yucca fries and skip the others. I appreciated the labels describing the Horchata, Jicama, and Tamarindo juices in english. Even for someone like me, who is familiar with them, it was useful in my decision-making. Get the tamarindo lightly tart and sweet to wash it all down. While the service was a bit snappy(i don't expect much from a fast food joint) on my second visit, they were able to quickly fullfill our large order. The area is a bit sketchy and I was a little nervous waiting in the rear parking lot while my family arrived. But atleast they have a parking lot and I didn't have to search for street parking, which may have been impossible. Follow the large arrow to the left of the store front to find the parking lot.

8 pieces of chicken (4 fried and 4 grilled with herbs), 4 Hawaiian bread buns, and Campero rice and yucca (not pictured) as sides.

We split the chicken order of fried and grilled (with herb). The grilled chicken has a delicious taste and flavor, even though it kinda felt as if they just dropped it in citrus juice. The fried chicken has dangerously tasty crispy skin. I like their fat rice with herb and corn, and it blends well with the impossible-to-resist yucca fries. The hot fries are crispy on the outside and so soft and steamy inside, ready to dip in the the sauce. Yumster. The cooking style is decidedly different from the typical Peruvian pollo al carbon.... this is more like a blend of Korean crispy fried chicken and KFC with a splash of the Latino flavoring over the grill. The drawback is the location is a bit in a shady locale and we got accosted by someone asking for money right after we parked. No biggie though and it may have just added some spice to the whole experience! Little interesting fact I didn't realize until I looked up the wall and saw their timeline -- their history traced back to 1971 when they opened the original store in Guate, and in 2007 they even opened in Asia (Jakarta, Indonesia). Quite a story.

I guess you have to possess fond memories of Pollo Campero from your childhood or hometown to fully appreciate the specialness of this place. It is a bright and happy place, and the food gets to your table quickly with a smiling face attached. But, after taking a big bite out of their famous Chicken the party comes to an end rather quickly. True, the chicken is fresh and juicy, and has a citrus and chili flavor going on to tickle the taste buds. But, after that the experience is rather flat. The side dishes are ordinary (beans, coleslaw, taters, etc.), and the drinks are generic except for the Horacha, which was too sweet and tasted like it was from a mix. As fast chicken goes, this is a reasonable alternative to the Colonel or Popeye's, but not as good as a Bojangles or Cluck-U. There are other Guatemalan restaurants in Trenton that make great fried chicken in a much more unique and pleasant atmosphere. If you have the time and sense of adventure, you should try them and compare.

    Good carmalization

Perfectly cook plantains and very refreshing Horchata.... I didn't have the chicken this time however in previous visits the flavor was very good

    Guatemalan style chicken.

I wanted to avoid some of the usual suspects, and came across Prince and it's high reviews. So I decided to give it a shot. The place doesn't look like much from the outside - your typical chicken take out joint. There's barely any seating inside but it's not the type of place where you hang out from what I can tell. It's pretty basic inside with a chest of drinks and a simple counter. The menu is mostly focused on chicken and with good reason - they make it really, really well. We took our orders back to work with us and after opening the bags, others in the office were immediately intrigued by what we had brought back. I'm not sure what they season it with, or what they fry it in, but the fried chicken was absolutely delicious. Very juicy with a thin but perfectly crisp crust and a great flavor. The only downside is that the sides were meh. The mashed potatoes were the same as you'd get at any chicken place (KFC, Popeyes) and the biscuit was dry and uninspiring. But man was that chicken fantastic. So, pick up a chicken meal or just get some chicken and make your own sides - this place is a diamond in the rough.

From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely focused on making sure every customer was taken care of. The food, though, was the real star. The burger was cooked perfectly--juicy, flavorful, and made fresh to order. You can taste the quality in every bite. The toppings were crisp, the bun was soft yet held everything together, and the overall balance was spot on. The sides didn't disappoint either--the fries were hot, crispy, and seasoned just right. What really stood out, however, was the consistency and attention to detail. Even during a busy time, the team kept things moving efficiently without sacrificing quality or service. The restaurant itself was clean, well-maintained, and had a comfortable, inviting atmosphere. Under the watchful eye of Mike, Manny, and Gianna, it's clear that this location takes pride in what they do. If you're in the Hamilton area and looking for a great burger experience, run don't walk, this spot is absolutely worth the visit. I'll definitely be coming back. This shop is attractively set out on a small knoll with a wraparound drive through. They even have an outdoor patio with ramada for enjoying this lovely fall weather. Well, the breakfast wrap was good and filling enough without the extra hash browns or sweet cream dough balls provided in their "Box." The extra spice kick was just enough to keep it interesting. At $3.89 it is actually quite a an excellent deal. Downside was the coffee. Although no sugar was requested and repeated when asked by the order taker, it was still plied with sugar when opened at my desk. That, and the strange engineering of the coffee cups makes for a challenging transport. The corrugated sleeve is glued to the paper cup, which seems to partially deform the round lip on top. This causes the plastic cover to fail to smoothly snap over the edge, living small gaps for coffee to leak out. By the time I arrived at work there was a puddle of java in the cup holder and drippage when lifted out. You and my pants know the rest... So, two visits to local Taco Bells. Both had tasty food, but secondary service issues. If I can tolerate those errata, I will likely try again in the not to distant future.
