It was friggen' amazing, and the best food I've ever had....but then again, we had just been driving for 8 hours when we hit this place: starved, tired, sick of eating bland burgers and a little discombobulated. So instead of 5 stars, I'll give it a more reasonable 4 stars because although I'm sure it was good, it was just not earth-shatteringly good like we thought it was then. After my last visit to this Pollo Tropical I certainly will not visit again. Their hygiene, sanitation and food preparation habits are atrocious. There were food handlers that were not wearing gloves and the ones that had gloves on were wiping their face, rubbing their eyes and / or handling money from the register and then returning to serving the food. I was so mortified and grossed out I literally stood at the counter taking pictures which I posted on YELP. In lieu of the recent Ebola hysteria (not to mention other communicable diseases [ie. Hepatitis]) I was shocked to see what was going on in plain view. The Health Department should definitely pay a visit! read more

I have been at another locations with no problems at all and not burned and old chicken given thru drive thru, i paid almost 30.00 when I got home far from the location it was burned. Hard for me to go back, tried calling the restaurant and no one answer. Very bad employees, also order a ceaser salad and of course...no croutons in it. Great change from ever other fast food place. It is like a El Pollo Loco for the South Florida region. I would have gave it 5 stars but it seemed to have not many side items, but they were delicious. I purchased the 1/4 chicken plate with tomatoes, rice and beans. The chicken was very juicy and fresh and sides were good also. The price was very good, $20.00 for 4. This location is beyond disgusting. I have witnessed on two occasions the cooks not using gloves to handle raw chicken and then go on to touch cooked chicken and other utensils without ever washing their hands. They also store the grill scraping instrument on the floor. So whatever germs and bacteria are on the floor end up on the grill surface. Extra flavoring I guess they say. I reported this location to the health department and their inspection showed that hand washing sinks were obstructed from being used. This backs up what I'm saying about them not washing their hands after touching raw chicken. Delicious. While driving from Orlando to Miami, we saw many of these restaurants. From the outside it seems like a typical fast food chicken place with a drive thru but it's much better. They have a decent amount of options and reasonably priced. I chose the Mojo pulled pork with yellow rice and veggies and waffle fries and my dad got boneless chicken breasts with rice and beans. We were both satisfied with our meals - very large portions. I plan to come back to try the plantains and desserts on their menu. I would skip the pina colada smoothie, mine was only mediocre and I wasn't able to even finish half of it because I was so full from the large portions and it just wasn't that great. I will start by saying I'm from central Florida and have never actually been to a Pollo Tropical even though I've seen them whenever I come down to this area. Today I decided to try it out since there was this location next to the gas station I was at. There was a young man named Deon working the drive thru and he was there with a tablet taking orders. At first I was like ah great I've never even looked at this menu let alone know what I want! Deon MADE my experience- he asked me questions about what I wanted and I ended up getting the TropiChop. This location gets one start not because of the quality of food but their freaking drive thru sucks! Every time I go through the drive thru, I always come up missing something. Today, my tropichops had no topping (tomato, lettuce, etc), the sauce they asked me I wanted...didn't get them, and my boiled yuca...no garlic sauce. I don't know why my coworkers are always able to talk me into going to this place. It's trash. I didn't know chickens were so small these days. Well, it's the absolute last time. I order a 1/2 chicken meal with a couple sides. One being the broccoli and carrots. After paying I get my food on the tray. The tray looks like a baby puked on it. I ask the counter lady for a clean tray. She sorts through more than a dozen to find a clean one. Like she didn't see the schnitt on the tray when she put my plate on it? While I'm waiting for her to find a clean tray, I grab a broccoli floret and pop it in my mouth. It's frozen solid! No joke. I remove it from my mouth and put it back in the pile with the rest of the frozen broccoli. After receiving my clean tray, I inform the counter lady about the frozen broccoli. She looks at me like I've got something growing out of my forehead. Wait...it get's better. I tell her I'll just have the balsamic tomatoes. She takes my plate over to the steam table and with a spoon, shovels the broccoli back into the container on the steam table. Including the broccoli that was in my mouth!! So here's the dilemma. The Sobe one always gave me old ones, and it just makes me so happy to have a place that my entire family can eat at - and I can feel good about giving my kids some nutritious food at total convenience AND a great price. Mind you - they have great lunch deals too! With the Cuban wrap, the Casear wrap, and some new chicken chipotle wrap that's delectible - $5 drink included! I just got a wrap....the cheese and tomatoes inside it are cold, I would rather swallow a dreadlock than have a cold chicken quesadilla wrap.
