It would be easier to ask what I don't love about Origen, than what I do...because the list of…read moregoodliness is just endless.......The place is absolutely amazing, in every single way, shape, and form. The location is utterly stunning, with an outdoor seating area that allows for breathtaking views of Acapulco bay, in addition to the beautifully designed and lit swimming pool and hotel exterior, which is reminiscent of one of South Beach's very finest. Origen's interior is equally impressive--the designer achieved the perfect mix of clean, crisp, cool, and hip (and not "annoying" hip, but genuinely stylish and fucking rad, hip) but managed to still create a restaurant interior that's welcoming and comfortable, rather than sterile and pretentious. Oh, then of course, lest I forget--there's the food, because, restaurant, duh! Well, not surprisingly, it's utterly sublime. The menu is varied and in-depth, and the standard of the cooking is right up there with Michelin star establishments....I kid you not. Then there's the staff, who are truly outstanding in every way you can imagine--for real. Our server, Mesero, was honestly one of the most professional, lovely, warm, genuine, and pleasant waiters I've ever encountered--and I've eaten at amazing restaurants all around the world (because I'm really really old and used to have a career that paid me a shit ton of money, before moving to Mexico). Oh, but because everything wasn't wondrous enough already, then along comes the utterly adorable Candido, to cure me of a hideous headache caused by a sudden and totally unexpected footwear emergency--after pretty much the entire sole of my shoe broke away, leaving me limping pathetically, dragging the flapping, untethered sole of my 5 inch heels behind me. (Yeah, not dangerous at all especially given my general state of clumsiness, even at the best of times...) Anyway, by the time our utterly glorious dinner had ended, Candido had returned my perfectly repaired shoe to me--even taking the time to get down on his knees so he could fit it back on to my foot himself--in true Prince Charming style. Oh, and to top it all, he totally refused to accept any tip from me for his kindness. So, yeah, as you may have guessed by now, I can not rave highly enough about Origen.....Just go and see for yourself. Seriously, go. Treat yourself. Well, Encanto Hotel, specifically, it's restaurant, Origen is doing a wonderful job of putting it back on the map of vacation destinations! It's no wonder JLo chose this hotel a few years ago to film a video. I was told she rented out the whole place for herself and her entourage! First off, I love the fact that I was able to make reservations on Open Table. So convenient! The hotel where Origen is located is tucked away on top of a hill and past two security gates. At that point, I felt as an exclusive guest as JLo! Once we arrived at the reception desk of Encanto, we warmly greeted and guided toward the restaurant. Once we arrive, we see a breathtaking a view of Acapulco's Santa Lucía Bay! Irving our maître d'/server, Irving made us feel welcome and appreciated. We followed all of his drink and food suggestions and were not disappointed. The appetizer sampler shouldn't be missed. The cocktails are finely crafted and scrumptious! Our main entrees were delectable! The asado negro and rib eye are excellent choices for carnivores looking for a break from seafood. The desserts are exceptional. Order the guanabana flan, you won't be disappointed! I have to add that Irving and the rest of the wait staff surprised us with a special anniversary dessert as they saw on our Open Table reservation that we were celebrating our special day. I hope that we begin to see a stronger renaissance in Acapulco. I am certain that high quality places like Encanto and Origen Restaurant will make this happen, especially when they employ professional, warm and friendly locals like Irving and other servers such as Christian, Alberto, and Neftali. The kitchen staff should also be commended as they painstakingly create fine dishes that we thoroughly enjoyed! The staff truly made our experience unforgettable!

The food was quality Mexican faire. We had an appetizer of picadillas with Marlin which were fabulous. Next we shared an avocado shrimp salad. If you understand what to expect, it is very good. It is not a traditional "American" salad, but rather a large avocado cut in half on a small bed of shredded lettuce. It was filled with shrimp and covered in dressing. I wouldn't call it a salad but I did appreciate the fresh veggies. Last we had the "meat lover" paella. This was a wonderful local treat.
