The decor inside is stunning, as well as the glowing tabletops. The service is wonderful thus far. Everything on the menu is fairly priced, considering the portion sizes are way above par. I did order a Tutti Frutti Mocktail, and it tastes freshly made and not frozen like so many places do. You can tell they want you to have a great experience. I went with the garlic and rosemary bread and I am surprised at how light it is, but the flavor definitely pops in your mouth. I've eaten half of it before the main course even arrived. I got the crab fettuccini. The service is extremely quick. My main course arrived within maybe 15 minutes of sitting down. Fresh grated Parmesan on top. The waitress recommended the risotto, and I can now see why. The pasta is the perfect temperature, coupled with the crab and Parmesan, it's the perfect blend to make your tastebuds dance. I can't stop licking my lips haha. So happy to say that I had room for dessert! The Sticky Toffee Pudding was recommended, and yet again, another perfect choice. Toffee was poured on top of the dessert, and it was hot, making the dish that much more enjoyable. Ok. I not only LOVE the food, but I finished all three dishes completely. They worked off each other very nicely and when I don't even have leftovers to take home, it is THAT good. Overall a joyful and delicious experience! If you ever take a trip or you are LOCAL to Scotland, definitely stop in here. The service is some of the best, if not the best, I've ever received at a restaurant, especially considering it's aesthetically upscale and the menu seems to be crafted with lots of thought and heart.

I had some sort of fried food with nduja (a spicy sausage that I forgot how to spell) for my starter and it was incredible. Then I had a beef and onion pasta that was great but the onion was completely different to what I imagined. The place looked really nice with mutti candles and other nice decor. But the best part was the service. The workers made me feel welcome. It felt like the whole restaurant was a big family gathering. However, the opportunity arose when attending a musical jazz gig during the Fringe Festival. Few people realise how far back the shop extends past the delicatessen part at the front - there's a whole restaurant and a small performance space back there! I'm happy to report that the standard of food is as high as ever, and the menu choices are a cut above your 'standard' Italian restaurant, of which there are several in this part of Edinburgh. I started with the Salmone - thinly sliced Scottish salmon with pickled cucumber, shaved beetroot, dill, capers, EVOO and lemon juice. A perfect palate cleanser before the main event. I followed this with a nice veggie linguine with Chanterelle mushrooms (I can never resist a good Chanterelle, and these were VERY good), then a rather indulgent Torta de Chioccolato (sans creme fraiche), which had a few attendant boozy Amarena cherries - yum! They have a select wine list - not hugely extensive but featuring many unfamiliar vintages; I was also impressed with the Ichnusa unfiltered lager from Sardinia; I only had a sample taste of that as we'd already committed to a Trabocchetto Pecorino, a nice fruity white with plenty of body. All in all, a delicious feast. Great service too. I would recommend booking in advance as it can be very busy, particularly during lunch hour.

Both were good portions for starters and played beautifully! For mains, we had the roasted chicken breast and a spring pasta with fresh basil and tomato. Both were delightful!
