Manny at Pomp Salon is the best! I've seen his work on his female clientele but he doesn't get as much recognition for his male clientele. Well, I'm here to say he can do it all! Back when I had extremely long hair and highlights, he was able to trim it to my liking and even fix my highlights and make them look more natural and "sun-drenched." Now that I have short hair, he is still able to perform past my expectations and make me feel great about myself when I walk out of the salon with a fresh cut. He's smooth with the scissors and steady with the clippers and is a great guy to converse with. Always willing to help and answer any questions I might have about the next style I might want to try. If you're looking for a new barber, Manny is a great option hidden amongst a crowd of mainly female clientele within Pomp Salon. i am very upset and frustrated. I had an appt scheduled with sal for 7/20 at 10am for a balayage and cut. We had scheduled this appt june 14th as i needed to request the time off work and i wanted to get my hair done before my wedding event this weekend. I came for my appt and was told i didnt have one and after showing texts they said my appt had been canceled but no one knows by who. My time is just as valuable as the stylists and it upset me that i took time off work to show up and no one can explain how my appt got deleted. There was no other availability as he was booked so i left. After i drove back to work i got a call there was an opening with another stylist, pablo. I settled for a toner refresh as i wasnt comfortable with another stylist doing the balayage i wanted for my event. At this point im done with sal and wont be returning to pomp anytime soon if the scheduling system is crap like this. Complete waste. And it doesnt seem like anyone cares how upsetting this is. Vicki is a miracle worker. Seriously. My hair was a mess, it was about 5 different colors-- dark brown grown out base, orange chunks, light blonde streaks, light brown streaks and some other oxidized pieces in there. Vicki is knowledgeable, honest and hard working! After a few hours she got all the orange out, completely evened out the color and I left the salon with hair that I loved, which hasn't happened to me in years. The location is nice but this is the worse experience that I had ever had. The hairdresser washed my hair but some of my scalp remained dry. It seemed like he barely touched it. He proceeded to cut my hair SITTING DOWN!!!! He made me feel like my hair was not worth the trouble. I had just wanted a short bob with layers. I was overcharged for something that I didn't like. He never showed me the back of my head to see the haircut. When I got home, I realized that there was some long hair left behind. This is the very first time I cried about a haircut. So as I'm laying here trying to sleep, I just can't! I'm totally frustrated right now because I have two options after getting my hair cut today.. I have to rant because it's really bugging me to the point I'm losing sleep because of the service provided. So I told my husband I wanted a hair cut for my birthday as I've been trying to get one since Covid was announced last year, and honestly had one person I would normally go to, but haven't been able to get in touch with her period. Anywho so I went online and searched reviews as I've had bad, horrible experiences before and hard to trust just anyone. Well I go to Pomp salon, which is supposedly well known, high reputation, etc. One of the managers there set me with this girl named Cassie, for a consultation because I'm looking to get the color removed to my original color and also cut before baby girl comes into the world. Now Cassie seems nice, open, honest and knowledgeable about the whole process, and by the end I've decided to wait on the color remover and maybe redo the color.. that being said I even told her, let's start the cut and I will decide on the color by the end.. she ask me about history of my hair, I explain thyroid issues, naturally curly, don't want to lose much length as it took all pregnancy to get where it was being slow growth, was considered thick, but not sure as I've had the sleeve surgery and lost tons, along with coloring from a box, and also high anxiety from people messing up while getting hair cuts before. Now I told my hubby, if they can't do the color removal , then we will go elsewhere before I even walked in the door, but again like I said being she seemed knowledgeable I gave her the benefit of the doubt.. my mistake!! She started out good, with the cut, my only concern at this point was she didn't ask how I normally wear it, in which most do to understand the way it lays and also styled.. anyways it's seems to be going well, even though my anxiety went up bad, to the point I felt sick, and hubby was asking me if I was okay cause he could see it... As she got down to the end, she broke out her blow dryer and started drying it, I was like okay, maybe she's going to show me before we start the next step as it would be less work and color if going that direction.. nope! That's when she started styling it, (never asking if I decided for the color, in which I'm glad now that I didn't the way the haircut went) and framed it around my face in which I can't wear that way because of my severe allergies.. it looks cute, don't get me wrong, but I had to instantly move it once up from her chair.. Anywho; here's where the problem lies, at the end when I thought well it looks great, just have to move it away from my face, she twist the front bangs and starts sniping. I thought nothing of it, as I thought maybe this is just how they layer it now, being every stylist has different techniques, not knowing how short it was going to make them, let along irritate me ever after that moment, because I either have to wear a headband to keep them out of my face or a high ponytail in which still doesn't hold them completely, and whether driving down the road or the fan blowing on me to sleep in which is every night, it's constantly tickling my face.. I've got a miagraine from the high ponytail trying to sleep and still being woke up from it tickling my face.. I even explained I wanted something manable being I'm 40 weeks pregnant, baby girl can come into this world at any point and just want something easy that will look good in pics but not require much work as a newborn is going to be hard enough.. I'm really disappointed with the quality and service performed. I would not recommend going there to anyone, being that's the best they offered and knowing that one of the managers recommended me to her. She's a really cute and sweet girl, however for her knowledge, I rather went to sportclips and hoped for the best there for 1/3 the cost.. then I would more then likely end up with what I paid for instead of the headache I'm dealing with now.. This is the worst service I've ever gotten first I called try to book an appointment charging me $50 just to book a fucking appointment really then I try to do walkins and say we're busy all the time really there's some hairstylist sitting in there doing nothing and I just walk in some of them are like just rude all I wanted was my tips to be cut but they said that they're booked for the whole day so this is just really a horrific experience. I really like this salon and my stylist, Courtney. She is very skilled and continues to get extra training on new techniques, which makes her an excellent stylist! The salon is usually busy with clients of varying ages, which is nice to see. The salon seems to be able to cater to every wish a client might have. This is my second time getting a haircut at this location. Both times the hair stylist was friendly and my hair comes out looking the way I want. I had about 6-7 inches cut off this weekend and noticed later that same day the ends of my hairs had white tips, like it does before a split end begins. I had half a foot chopped off to get my hair healthy again but because the hair stylist used dull scissors, I'm afraid I'm going to need it recut. The salon has probably been using the same scissors on everyone's hair for years and haven't replaced it. I'll be getting a fresh pair of scissors to give myself trims from now on. read more

I'll start by saying initially I had an appointment at a different highly rated salon days prior. I showed up at that salon and despite paying a deposit and an email confirmation confirming my appointment they "forgot" to book my appointment and when I showed up they asked me to come back the following week. With that being said, I was NOT interested in giving them my business and I decided to call POMP instead. Upon calling they told me they had an appointment available that same weekend with Hannah. Having never been to the salon before or knowing Hannah I decided I'd take a chance on them. Let me just say WOW. The salon itself is clean, modern, beautiful, and follows appropriate sanitizing covid protocols. Now, when I got there I came with an idea for my hair in mind. Hannah and another consultant looked at my current hair and explained to me that it would be very difficult for my current hair to handle what I was requesting. Their honest recommendation probably saved my hair from irreversible damage. So I needed a new game plan. Hannah helped me brainstorm other ideas similar to what I was looking for and we came up with something I was happy with. The end result far surpassed what I had originally asked for. She went above and beyond and I could not be happier with the outcome. My hair looks amazing, and has so much color and dimension that my mind was literally blown. I have been coming to Pomp ever since my hairdresser, Caitlyn Kennedy, started at the salon. She has never let me down when it comes to my hair!! I went in today and did a completely new look from what I usually do and am so happy with it. I moved to NorCal from LA last year and had to leave my amazing stylist. He used to make visits up to SF every 3 months but with Covid, he hasn't been up here in months since the quarantine. First off, let me start by saying I am VERY picky about my cuts and color and would pay any amount to have it done the way I like. So after weeks of researching online and on IG for a decent enough place, I came across an amazing colorist who worked at Pomp. So I messaged her asking if she also cut hair because if her cutting skills were as good as her coloring skills, I was happy. I wrote her a long DM explaining all of this and asking very nicely if she cuts hair, what she charges, etc. Mind you, this was before the second shutdown of businesses so they WERE open. I heard nothing. So on her IG page, it says to text her, so I wrote the exact same message to her text, assuming she's probably really busy and inundated with messages. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Nothing. So I wrote a DM to Pomp and asked the same question, just curious about who they could recommend for a cut since looking at their IG, most of the employees seem like colorists. I just asked who is their senior stylist and who they recommend for a badass cut. Nothing. Then the second shutdown happened and because I followed them on IG, I followed their stories to see if I could get some info or reach out that way. The original colorist I was trying to get a hold of, whose IG I was also following at the time, posted a story and I immediately responded to it, hoping she'd get it that way since a DM and a text did not work. Nothing. Last night Pomp posted a story about taking appointments next week, despite the shutdown, so I immediately wrote another DM expressing my frustration that no one has gotten back to me. I thought, "Oh, maybe they're just gonna re-open in limited time blocks for clients" as some places are like nail shops, etc. to stay afloat. So I wrote Pomp a message and they finally respond with: "We are currently closed by the state of California, the board of barbering and Cosmetology. Our industry is currently dissolving and may not survive. Please be patient as we respond to requests for services." Then they immediately take a screenshot of my frustrated message and posted it to their IG story with a caption that said "Am I the only one who f*cking reads the news?" I was shocked and super offended as my message was not meant to be mean or to be an as*hole. I am a legit customer interested in just getting some answers, open or not, so when they do open, I have a local place I can get my hair done. So I wrote back with: "I read the news I'm not an idiot. I'm just responding to your IG story about re-opening. I'm just trying to support your industry because I believe you all are essential and support you. I reached out to Chelsey one of your stylists before this second lockdown and I've heard nothing. So lockdown or not, the simple fact is that I am a new customer trying to reach out for your service and I've heard nothing and have been nothing but patient and respectful. Super rude to screenshot a potential client's DM and put it on blast. Not a good way to gain new clients." I checked again and they took that story down immediately. I've attached a screenshot of the IG story I was responding to. Tell me it doesn't sound like they're going to re-open and start taking appointments?! And then to top it off, they've blocked me from their Pomp IG account. HA! Ridiculous. I'm super disappointed at how childish this business reacted when all I was trying to do was to SUPPORT THEM AND GET THEIR BUSINESS. I've messaged businesses MUCH bigger and MUCH more important and well-known than a damn salon in a strip mall, and they've responded in a timely manner and have been super apologetic and helpful. I've found the 2 owners of this place and plan to spread the word on how RUDE and unprofessional they've acted and am appalled at how they treat potential new clients. I'm super disappointed because I had FINALLY found a place where I felt like their work was up to par and they treat me like this. I know these are hard times for everyone but all I wanted were some answers. I absolutely DO NOT wish them all the best and with that kind of treatment of other people, especially potential new clients, karma will get you. You get what you give and they so far, haven't given me SH*T, made me feel so ignored and made me out to be a fool on their IG. Why'd you delete your story with my screenshot? Because you knew it was unprofessional and childish? Yeah, thought so. F*cking disappointing. That's NOT how you run a business. Good riddance Pomp. More like WOMP, WOMP, WOMP.
